James-T-Harris’ Interview With AZGOP Secretary Gabby Saucedo-Mercer, Recall Lines petition spokesman John Backer, and Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit.
LD20 State Committeeman Marianne Ferrari: In early March, I started organizing a “Special Meeting” to Remove Chairman Jonathan Lines by working with others throughout the state to gather the signatures of State Committeemen for the Official Call. This meeting will be called by the State Committee, in accordance with the AZGOP By-laws. It will be the first time in history that the membership has felt the need to exercise its absolute authority to remove any elective official by a simple vote to that effect.
Why did I take on this project? I must thank Jim Ehl, the Arizona Town Crier, for his clarion voice on the indispensable Republican Briefs. Ehl is a tireless servant of liberty who deserves all our thanks for throwing himself repeatedly against the wall of the AZGOP fortress. Jim’s stem-winders motivated me to do something about the horrible dereliction in our Arizona GOP. When Jim talked, for the 12th time, about the $220,000 or $250,000 of so-called “debt” that Robert Graham announced to his former Treasurer, Jonathan Lines - after Lines was elected our new chairman - I realized I could no longer participate in a party whose systemic dysfunction makes a mockery of every PC, State Committeeman, and voter in the state! Nor could I abandon the party!
Since March 3rd, I’ve steeped myself in the myriad details and By-law requirements involved in organizing a Special Meeting. I’ve reached out to experts, arranged for a meeting location, and related details. During that time, I have developed new friendships with an eclectic group of conscientious conservatives from different counties – people of intelligence, skills, integrity--and the determination to put the party back into the hands of the membership. This post is intended only to announce our effort publicly. Over the next week or two, I will present The Case for Removal in a series of articles to be submitted to ArizonaFreedomAlliance.com and the Briefs. If you are a State Committeeman and wish to sign the Call, please email to: Advocacy@indepthcritique.com Editor’s Note: Ferrari’s announcement has been condensed to closer conform to the word limit policy. See her complete statement at The Case For Removal - ft
Kevin Dang, Chairman of the GOPs Arizona Asian Coalition, responds to LD30 First Vice Chairman Timothy Schwartz: I was very disappointed to read your attack on Matthew Kenney. 7-11-17 Briefs archives For a party officer, someone who should be working to unify our Republican Party, to write such a divisive and belligerent letter was a disgrace. I was also personally offended by your attacks on my fellow Vietnamese-Americans, many of whom became PCs for the first time when Chairman Graham and Matt Kenney visited our community and urged them to become Republicans. Many of them have very little knowledge on voting rights and have never registered to vote, and those who have registered were enlisted as Democrats. Thanks to the inspiration and positive messages delivered to members in the Vietnamese community by Mr. Kenney, hundreds of Vietnamese-American have joined the Republican Party. Should we, Republicans not be celebrating that?
I am a first generation American migrated from Vietnam at the age of nine. I love this country, and I love my Republican party, as much as you, as much as other Americans. I’m currently serving my second term as President of the Vietnamese Community in AZ, was recently appointed by Chairman Lines as the Chairman of the Arizona Asian Coalition, and I proudly serve as a member of Governor Ducey’s AZ State Board of Pharmacy. This country has given me, and so many other Vietnamese-Americans tremendous opportunities for advancement, the freedom to live, to speak, to pray as we choose, and to support the leaders who we choose. We are, sir, as American as you are. Your attack on Mr. Kenney speaks derisively and disrespectfully of those Vietnamese PCs who “did not speak the English language.” I also find it incredibly hypocritical to attack Mr. Kenney for signing up PCs when you also harassed many of those “non-English speaking” PCs. While they denied your attempts because of your rude and aggressive nature, you arrived at their homes offering to notarize their forms.
Mr. Schwartz, do you know who once did not speak the English language? Me! And yet I felt a love for this country from the first moment I learned about the history of this great nation, the land of Freedom and Opportunities! As a freedom-loving Vietnamese-American, I embraced the principals of Ronald Reagan and the first President I ever cast a ballot for, George W. Bush. I’ve always worked hard, realizing the American dream and being able to provide financially for my family. And yet, to you, I should not be a PC…should I not be a Republican, either? We should embrace those who are new to this country, who so love America that they want to get involved with our party, to make a positive difference in our community. This is why I have taken a leadership role with the AZ GOP, and why I will continue to recruit as many new Republicans as I can to join our ranks. I have seen how you conduct yourself publicly, and how you strive to tear down so many of our fellow Republicans. I am hopeful that you will take a step back and recognize how destructive your actions are to our great Party. Editor’s Note: Briefs made an exception in allowing Dang’s letter to exceed the 300 word limit in an effort to get both sides of the story. Dang’s letter is the first time the Vietnamese-American community has responded to reports regarding alleged Establishment PC recruitment shenanigans. The statewide cleansing of grassroots conservative PCs from party leadership roles via recruitment of “shadow” PCs - whose proxy are reportedly harvested to control state and county convention elections - has been a source of major strife within the party (statewide) for several years. A petition is currently being circulated requesting the state legislature to prohibit or limit the use of proxies.- ft

LD4 PC Richard Hopkins open letter to Paul Ryan & Mitch McConnell. Gentlemen: The American people are sick and tired of you and business as usual in Washington. The same people that voted for you also voted Donald Trump as our nation’s President. It is past time for you to knock off your crap and help our president achieve what we, the people, elected him to do. The people of America are suffering immensely under the oppressive provisions of “ObamaScare.” Each and every day that you refuse to completely repeal every provision brings us closer to socialized medicine for all. Each and every day that you refuse to completely repeal every provision brings us closer to their goal of the complete destruction of our health care industry so that the government is the only thing left. It is time each of you grow a pair and do what the people of America are desperate for. I call upon each of you to pass a bill within the next 30 days completely repealing each and every provision of ObamaScare effective December 31, 2018.This will allow all Americans to see which Republicans vote no and remove them from office in 2018, and also force the Democrats to stop their obstructionism and actually do something constructive for a change in working for something that is acceptable to all Americans to fix the health insurance crisis we have been in since ObamaScare was enacted. Remember, 63,000,000 people voted for our president. Just think what $5 from each of them to your primary opponent next time would mean for you.

William Geresy - Moderator Patriots Heart: Yesterday was the 48th anniversary of the landing of Eagle with Astronauts Armstrong And Aldrin on the moon. The first words uttered from the moon were, "Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed." Later when Neil Armstrong stepped off the landing pad at the base of the landing leg to set foot on the Moon, his words were, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." This was the fulfilment of a challenge put forward by President Kennedy in 1961 when he said we would land on the Moon before the decade is out. We rose to the challenge and did it. There were false starts, setbacks, close calls, and tragedy along the way. We never quit. We licked our wounds and for three in the Apollo 1 fire, buried our dead. We learned from the mistakes. We made rockets and spacecraft even better. Because we didn't quit, Apollo 11's Eagle Lunar Module with two astronauts did what in 1961 seemed impossible. So what seems impossible today, if we don't quit, will be a proud moment in our history tomorrow.

Sen John McCain (Chairman of the Armed Services Committee,) on reports that the administration is ending a program to assist the Syrian opposition: “If these reports are true, the administration is playing right into the hands of Vladimir Putin. Making any concession to Russia, absent a broader strategy for Syria, is irresponsible and short-sighted. The administration has yet to articulate its vision for Syria beyond the defeat of ISIL, let alone a comprehensive approach to the Middle East. A key pillar of American strategy must be the removal of Assad from power as part of an end to the brutal conflict in Syria, which has fueled ISIL’s growth through its cruelty, extended malign Iranian influence, and undermined broader regional stability. Six months into this administration, there is still no new strategy for victory in Afghanistan either. It is now mid-July, when the administration promised to deliver that strategy to Congress, and we are still waiting.”
