7-23-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Archie Dicksion, the anti-proxy petition spokesman, says the petition is posted at http://bit.ly/2rZG2w8 Just filled it out and submit it to Dicksion electronically. The petition requests that Arizona State Legislature “prohibit the use of proxies at political party votes, or limit their use to no more than two (2) proxies per carrier.” Dicksion can also be reached at 949-233-0009.

Activist John Backer: Friday, Marianne Ferrari’s posts to recall AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines appeared on MCRC Briefs 7-21-17 Briefs and Arizona Freedom Alliance The Case For Removal. I applaud and support Ferrari's recall efforts, and I am willing to help in any way she wishes. I am requesting a blank copy of the recall petition to assist with getting signatures from those in southern Arizona; however, I understand that most of you know Ferrari personally and might feel more comfortable contacting her directly to sign the Recall Lines petition. Her posts references  Advocacy@indepthcritique.com to arrange to sign the recall petition. It is critical the recall effort be a united one to avoid confusion. If you want to drain the Arizona Swamp, the time has come and you can and should be a part of the process. The time is now!

Correction: Yesterday morning Briefs errantly credited a letter written by La Paz County Republican Committee Chairman Russell Sias to former Sen. Russell Pearce. A correction was made about 10 am. Apologies to Pearce. See Sias letter at 7-22-17-briefs – ft

Former PC Lolly Hathhorn: “I am glad to see that so many PCs and SCs are responding to the call to have Mr. Lines recalled.  The scandalous way that the AZGOP has treated duly-elected officers is really beyond the pale.  However, why has it taken so long for someone (anyone) to start the process?  Also, just put out a call for ALL Republicans to send letters to the Attorney General of Arizona for the resignation of Mr. Lines.  I don’t believe you have to be a PC or SC to ask for his resignation.  As a faithful Republican, and neither a PC or SC anymore, I am asking for his resignation.  This and other things are why I am no longer involved as a PC or SC.  I am a loyal Republican, Patriot and supporter of President Trump.  I am not ashamed to mention GOD in anything I do.  I believe in the Constitution and what it stands for and I am not ashamed to say that.  What is wrong with this Nation when the mention of GOD turns people apoplectic!  Let’s all go back to what we stand for and get rid of people who don’t follow the rules (are you listening AZGOP) and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”  Support our duly-elected officers and let’s clean out the swamp! Editor’s Note: Marianne Ferrari says she is making sure they do everything legally and in accordance with the bylaws as she proceeds with the recall of Lines.

PC Art Olivas: I guess I have been saying this for over 15 yrs. If you keep voting for the same self-serving RINOs, things will never change. Just keep on following their endorsements like sheep while true Grassroots conservatives are  purged from the Arizona Republican Party by John McCain, Jeff Flake, Jon Kyl and Bruce Ash with the help of lobbyist Constantin Querard. All these “Republicans In Name Only” dangle and feed us their BS to our faces and we still vote for their disastrous leadership! Case in point, I just got a letter from Bruce Ash - who in my eyes was helping John McCain's gofer boy Robert Graham run true grassroots conservatives out of the old Sun City office. At that time I asked, “Is Bruce Ash going broke?” He didn't like that and like a true Democrat, all he did was start calling me names. I still read his email for a laugh! In his letter, he praised Jonathan Lines - ignoring us conservatives like Gabby S. Mercer who can't do the job we elected her to do. What we need to do is band together go after these RINOs before they and their Democrat co-harts disgracefully destroy our city, our state, our country! All this I believe. Hell read his letter to me yourself.

ash letter

LD 22 State Committeeman Lori Hack: In response to Bruce Ash's Facebook post dated 7.22.2017, 4:04 PM with a Time.com article and disparaging and perverting words about Dr. Kelli Ward's campaign against #FakeFlake ... It appears that over the last 10 yrs. in elected office, Bruce has only learned how to live and be amongst the swamp monsters rather than represent the Republican citizens within the State of Arizona by reflecting the platform and duties in his day to day dealings. For the good of the party, I believe, Bruce needs to resign if he can't recalibrate his moral compass and start doing his job as National Committeeman for Arizona. Just maybe we need to look into his removal process in addition to Jonathan Lines. Ya, think?

LD22 State Committeewoman Karen Thomas:  Hats off to Marianne Ferrari for spearheading our desire in AZ to follow President Trump’s lead to drain the swamp.  From what I’ve read and heard from various sources, we have a lot of work to do which can only be done under new leadership.  I encourage everyone who feels as we do to please sign the Call. BTW I, too, am disappointed in Bruce Ash’s remarks.

Russell Sias, La Paz County Chairman: I have been carrying on a conversation with a person on FaceBook. It explains part of the problem we have with those that would manipulate our bylaws. Read the twisted reasoning in this excerpt:

G: … I won't answer your claims when you have no proof of any wrong doing. I've read the bylaws no actions have gone against the bylaws….

Sias: ….the pertinent bylaw in Gabby's case is listed under the duties of the secretary (last sentence). It is as follows: "...He/she shall be responsible to preserve all permanent records of the state committee and relinquish them to his/her successor."

Sias ... How come the previous secretary didn't just hand over the ... records ... as the bylaw directed...? The bylaw clearly states that this is supposed to happen, why didn't it? Was the previous secretary prevented from doing their responsibility the same way...? How long has this bylaw been being ignored ...? WHO IS BEHIND THESE CLEAR VIOLATIONS OF OUR BYLAWS? ... perhaps it is time we ALL figured out why our bylaws are being ignored.

G: They were available to her she just can't remove them from the office.

Sias: ... someone has decided that she cannot remove them. WHO??? BY WHAT AUTHORITY??? ... WHOEVER is denying her access is in CLEAR violation of our bylaws! WHY were they, ... not handed to her by the previous secretary when she took over??

G: I've worked in corporations for years the companies records were never permitted to leave the building. ... The bylaws don't state she can remove them from office. ... I'm not wasting any more time on this. You're pig headed.

Editor’s Note: During AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines 7-18-17 tele conference he talk one caller that the transfer of the secretary records are “secretary to secretary” and that he had put in a call to former AZGOP Secretary Linda White that morning. Long-time AZGOP Secretary Linda White resides in Tucson. Briefs sent a note to White last night asking why she hasn’t turned over the records to Mercer. However, the e-mail bounced back – apparently due to an out-dated e-dress .- ft

LD11 Rep Vince Leach was selected to participate in the 2017 Emerging Leaders Program, sponsored by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Leach is one of 50 state legislators chosen from a nationwide pool of over 200 outstanding nominees. This prestigious program is held every year on the campus of the University of Virginia for a select group of state legislators who have been nominated by the Speaker of the House, President of the Senate or Minority Leader from their state. Leaders are asked to nominate one or more members who by their actions have demonstrated those qualities we associate with leadership—integrity, compassion, intelligence, vision, and common sense. As Stephen G. Lakis, President of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation, has noted “These legislators represent the best in our legislative institutions, and are destined for future leadership roles in their state. Spending time with these up and coming leaders renews my confidence in our country’s great democratic experiment.”

Arizona Citizens Defense League AzCDL Update: H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, a major pro-rights federal firearms bill filed this session  has been assigned to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations. H.R. 38 has 205 co-sponsors, including Arizona Reps Trent Franks, Paul Gosar, Martha McSally, Andy Biggs and David Schweikert. As written, if H.R. 38 becomes law it would require any state that allows people to carry concealed firearms to recognize permits issued by other states or allow a person to carry without a permit if they are "entitled to carry a concealed firearm in the State in which the person resides..." (i.e., Constitutional Carry).  Where you would be able to carry when visiting other states is still subject to their laws.If H.R. 38 becomes law it appears that, as a resident of Arizona, you would be able to carry in any state that allows concealed carry, with or without a CCW permit, since Arizona issues permits and is also a Constitutional Carry state. H.R. 38 contains provisions that place the burden of proof on each state to show that a person discreetly carrying a firearm did not comply with their laws.  It also provides for the award of attorney's fees and damages to victorious plaintiffs.  However, the proposed federal law does not prevent you from being arrested in states that refuse to recognize your right to carry.  It only means that, if you can get your case to federal court, the law is more apt to be on your side. A final caveat about H.R. 38, or any similar bill, is that once national reciprocity is covered by federal law, future congresses could potentially amend it with virtually insurmountable permit issuance requirements in order for a state to qualify for reciprocity under federal law. As written, and without modifications, AzCDL supports H.R. 38.

White House Petition - AzCDL writes: As we've seen with other high profile legislation, progress on federal bills makes the movement of glaciers seem speedy by comparison.  The Virginia Citizens Defense League has created a White House petition asking President Trump to urge Congress to pass H.R. 38 as soon as possible and get it to his desk. White House petitions are time sensitive.  For this petition to be considered by the President, 100,000 signatures are needed by August 17, 2017.   If you would like to add your name to the White House petition, click on the link below and follow the instructions Petition: National-Reciprocity-Nations-17-Million-Concealed-Handgun-Permit-Holders

CITY COUNCILMAN SPEAKs OUT

300 word limit. If statement exceeds the limit, it will be edited

Phoenix City Council incumbent Sal DiCiccio: There are a couple of big things I need to make you aware of and to ask for your help. First, the City of Phoenix just finished its fiscal year.  Here’s a link to a video that I’ve put together to highlight some good, some bad and the need to continue to work on solutions yet to come” The Good, The Bad And The Solutions Or www.SalForCityCouncil.com Most importantly, you know where I consistently stand and what I’m going to fight for – fiscal accountability at the City of Phoenix. And there’s more to fight fiscally than ever before. I have a plan to cut the interest on Phoenix’s out-of-control pension debt that will save billion of dollars for the taxpayers and help keep our pension promises. This past week, I was pleased to have former Congressman Jason Chaffetz join me for a campaign event all about how pension debt threatens the fiscal future not just of Phoenix but our nation. Jason is taking up this cause nationally and I look forward to working with him – and with you – to battle Phoenix’s pension problems.  I want to take Phoenix from being a poster child of bad decisions on pension debt to being the national leader of reforms that will save our city from the fiscal cliff we’re facing. Quite frankly, if we don’t – and the “WE” I’m referring to is YOU and I – it’s not going to happen. And that’s why I need your help right now.

Phoenix City Council Incumbent Sal Diciccio: Early ballots for the City Council race are hitting mailboxes on August 1st.  So I’m asking for your help three ways.

    · May I please have your vote.  Less than a third are expected to vote. Your vote is precious. Without it, I can’t win and there won’t be anyone on the City Council dedicated to fiscal sanity.

    · Please put up a yard sign to show your support. You can get a sign by emailing, calling or texting my campaign at nate@SalForCityCouncil.com or at 480-599-3179.

    · Please join me Saturday, August 5th as we take our message of Solutions and Success to voters throughout the district. Here again please email, call or text to get the information. I really hope to see you then.

You know Fox 10 News said, “Sal DiCiccio is on a one-man crusade to fight government waste at the City of Phoenix.”   I take that as a badge of honor. Thank you for your friendship. Thank you for your vote.
