8-15-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

A New Gallup Poll Notes that a rare phenomenon has occurred in which a politician has received better ratings from supporters of an opposition party than from those of his own party’s base. After Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain voted against the GOP’s efforts to repeal Obamacare, his favorability rating has shot up to 58% – with the majority of it among Democrats. The Gallup poll, conducted August 2-6, was taken soon after McCain joined forces with 46 Democrats, two Republicans, and two Independents to sink a last-ditch effort by the GOP to repeal Obamacare. As a result, McCain now has a 71% approval rating with Democrats, a 22-point increase from their view of him in August 2015. In comparison, McCain’s approval among Republicans has plunged by 10 points over the past two years, from 61% in August 2015 to 51% in the latest poll. Retired Col Alan West: This past weekend I was honored to be in a most picturesque place with some great and hospitable folks in Prescott (Yavapai County), Arizona. I was there to address the Republican Women of Prescott, the nation’s largest Republican women’s club, on their 75th anniversary. The scenery there was just breathtaking and there was just a sense of solemnness that we all need experience from time to time. How great a contrast it was from what was happening across the country in Charlottesville, Virginia… See full article at here’s-really-happened-in charlottesville

Former LD13 Chairman And Supt Of Public Instruction Candidate Robert Branch: Pres. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize! – Pres. Trump brought China and Russia into the N. Korea problem like no other president could have, and now N. Korea is backing down. Thank God for Pres. Trump! Editor’s Note: Branch also serves on the Maricopa County Parks Board. - ft

Attorney Larry Klayman: I want to say at the outset: As a young boy, my heroes included Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali and the Temptations. I am not a racist, and indeed I cherish among my many friends Alan Keyes, Larry Elder and Armstrong Williams, all African-American conservatives who, like me, believe that all of us — in the words of our Founding Father and President Thomas Jefferson, who hailed from Charlottesville, Virginia, and his nearby estate at Monticello — are equal under God. And, as a Jewish Christian, I have a personal stake in making sure that the Neo-Nazis and other white supremacists who perpetrated the heinous deadly car attack in Virginia this last weekend go severely punished, as Attorney General Jeff Sessions correctly pledged just Monday. But I am troubled about the continuing hypocrisy and dual standard of justice in the nation as a whole. In addition to Neo-Nazis and white supremacists in attendance and who engaged in violence at the pro-Confederacy rally, also present were counter-revolutionaries from Antifa, a radical leftist hate group, and of course Black Lives Matter, by and large a black vigilante group, to name just a few. These hate-filled agitators also participated in the violence that predictably erupted. Continue Reading...

Activist James Alberts: President Trump is correct when he stated that Mitch McConnell should resign, right along with John McCain, Jeff Flake and Paul Ryan. They have had seven years to work on a repeal and replace of the ACA and none of them has done anything.

Dale Gohr of Clarkdale: When are we going to stop placating wrongdoers and allow our law enforcement personnel the latitude necessary to actually enforce the law? Jumping to conclusions to make headlines is not the answer either; the previous administration did more than enough of that, which was expensive in some cases. [In July 2009, Professor Gates arrested for ‘disorderly conduct’ and President Obama saying the “police acted stupidly”, which was wrong and “We Taxpayers” were privileged to pay the bill for Dr. Gates and Sargent Crowley to be transported and accommodated in Washington D.C. for a “Beer Summit” with the President. Because the President spoke stupidly; without knowing the situation]. That is only one of the times President Obama engaged his mouth without having his brain in gear. Now the Press wants President Trump to condemn the supremacist before we know the facts. I personally despise any supremacists, regardless of Race, and it sounds as though a “White Supremacist” was driving. It is wrong to brand anyone as a villain, without having at least some semblance of proof or a viable suspicion.

Back to the start of this: Didn’t some group obtain a legitimate Permit to Protest? Was there any permit for a Counter Protest? Did the City Mayor Restrict the Police Presence? No Protest or Lawful Assembly is entitled to do any Property Damage (Public or Private) nor are they entitled to impede traffic (Motorized or not; unless they are supported by the appropriate Law Enforcement entity). The First Amendment allows only for the “People Peaceably to Assemble”: all of them; should be arrested at the first sign of property damage. This garbage of the city officials withdrawing the police is as much or more to blame for some cases - which Charlottesville looks like a classic case; albeit far from being unique.

AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines: As Americans, I know we were all horrified by the terrible and tragic events in Charlottesville, VA this weekend. Our hearts ache for the two state troopers, Jay Cullen and Berke Bates, killed when their helicopter crashed. And we mourn the loss of 32 year old Heather Heyer, killed by a domestic terrorist and coward who has no understanding of what our country is all about. I applaud the President and Vice President for condemning the violence, and would point you to the words last night of Vice President Mike Pence: “We have no tolerance for hate and violence, white supremacists or neo-Nazis or the KKK.” Attorney General Jeff Sessions has directed the Department of Justice to open a Federal investigation; the driver of the vehicle will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and may face the death penalty for his crime. And just now, President Trump was direct and succinct: “Racism is evil.”

I want to make clear that the marchers carrying Nazi flags and chanting racist and anti-sematic phrases are not “conservative,” they are not “Republicans.” Deplorably, I saw some in the media and on the left attempting to equate these disgusting actions with our party of Lincoln. We disavow them, and we reject any attempts to lump them in with our conservative coalition. I will not allow the fake news to define what it means to be a Republican. Period. Friends, as the President said, we are all Americans. We all honor the same flag. And we all reject the violence that we saw this weekend in Charlottesville. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue. As Americans, we must unify, reject hate and violence, and work together to honor our great nation. We stand together. And we WILL Make America Great Again.

Green-Berets-Amazing-Response-To VA-Violence Going Viral …While the president’s remarks were necessary in the wake of increasing division in America, one Green Beret veteran had already said it all in a Facebook post that is quickly going viral.
