Branch, a strong support of Trump, said, “Through President Trump’s vision, we will being education back to the people of Arizona. Volunteers should go to www.Vote4Branch.com or contact Michael at mdeianajr@gmail.com

Volunteers Have Kept political parties Going For Decades. They are even more important in today’s world where people like leftist George Soros are pouring millions of dollars into efforts to turn red states to blue. Republicans can NOT afford to lose any congressional or legislative seats to the Dems in 2018. We need strong Republican leaders, not officials who bad-mouth the President at every turn. Nor do we need whimpering, whining Mitch McConnell in a leadership role in DC.– ft

Activist Lolly Hathhorn: I thank Steve Slaton for his letter in the 8-17-17 Briefs He hit it right on the head. I just couldn't believe that Jeff Flake had been invited to the dinner. It is an insult to Dr. Pual Gosar as far as I am concerned. Flake has demonstrated again and again what a RINO he is and most of the people in Gila County that I know do not like him! Knowing what we know about Flake, why would he be invited? I question the reasoning behind it. As far as I am concerned, that was a good way to NOT sell tickets! I have had calls from friends here in Payson who ask 'what the h…l'?, and I have to say that I am not involved in this (soooo glad I'm not). I might need to do some signs for that evening. Just saying. On a much brighter note, congrats to Tom Morrissey on his radio show. Thanks for all you do for us Frosty. God Bless.

Arizona Dems are gearing up to turn this state blue, starting with today’s 15 county organizing plan including local office candidates in their “Statewide Day of Action.”

Firearms Preemption Upheld: On August 17 the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that the City of Tucson's policy of destroying forfeited and unclaimed firearms was in violation of state law.

GOP Data Training is offered for PCs every Thursday at GOP Headquarters, 3501 N 24th St in Phoenix. Contact Political Coordinator Kyle Pierce at Kyle.Pierce@azgop.org or call AZGOP HQ 602-957-7770 www.azgop.org

AZCDL Update: How is this possible?  Thank AzCDL: One of AzCDL's goals has been to strengthen state firearms preemption and add teeth to the law. In 2010, through AzCDL-requested legislation, we were successful in securing major improvements to the state's firearms preemption laws, including a ban on the destruction of seized firearms.  The ban on firearms destruction was strengthened again in 2012, through AzCDL-requested legislation, after cities like Tucson exploited loopholes in the wording of the law and continued to destroy firearms they obtained.  In 2013, with the passage of HB 2455, sponsored by Representative (and AzCDL Life Member) Brenda Barton (LD 6), all remaining loopholes in the law were closed.
In 2016, via the passage of AzCDL-supported Senate Bills (SB) 1266 and 1487, we were able to have cities held accountable for their continuing violation of state laws.  SB 1266, an NRA-requested bill, allows for injunctions, fines and civil suits when political subdivisions (e.g. cities) disregard preemption laws.  SB 1487 requires the Attorney General to investigate when one or more members of the Legislature allege that a county, city or town has violated state law or the Arizona Constitution.
Following the passage of SB 1487, Representative (and AzCDL Life Member)
Mark Finchem (LD 11) asked the Arizona Attorney General to investigate the City of Tucson for the routine destruction of firearms in violation of ARS 13-3108.F.  After the Arizona Attorney General found that Tucson may have been in violation of state law, the case was referred to the Arizona Supreme Court which, on August 17, unanimously upheld the statute and ruled against the city.
We thank our members who have supported us with their donations and emails to legislators that resulted in this momentous decision.  Want to see more laws that restore and protect your right to keep and bear arms?  Support AzCDL through your
membership and activism.
