REPUBLICAN BRIEFS

Bob BranchDr. Robert Branch, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction, will attend a 6 pm., Sept 13 round table discussion with the Verde Valley Joint Government Board – consisting of Beaver Creek Elementary School District, Camp Verde Unified School District, Clarkdale-Jerome Elementary School District, Cottonwood Oak Creek School District, Mingus Union High School District and the Valley Academy of Career and Technology Education JTED in the Sedona Red Rock High School Cafeteria and Auditorium, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road, Sedona, Arizona  86336.

Editor’s Note: Please keep opinion pieces to 400 words.

The AFA Team: We go quietly to bed tonight knowing that 5.6 million Floridians are in the path of the mighty storm, Irma, please pray for them.  Ask God to calm the waters and the winds by His mighty hand.  Ask His protection for those who are evacuating and for those who have chosen to stay. We pray for all of those friends and family who are facing such destruction as to be unimaginable.  The power of prayer and unwavering faith in God's mercy will be with all in the storm's path. In the Light of God's mercy.

Senate Judy Burges: DEA agents confiscated 30,000 counterfeit pills at a traffic stop near Tempe, the largest seizure of fentanyl tablets in Arizona history. The Tucson News reported the drugs were connected to the Sinaloa drug cartel. The fake pills were designed to look like oxycodone with an "M" and a "30" were stamped on the blue tablets. "This massive seizure removed thousands of potentially lethal doses of this powerful narcotic off the streets," said DEA Special Agent in Charge Doug Coleman.

Phoenix Councilman Sal DiCiccio: New attack on our #Police planned for Mayor’s policy agenda this coming Tuesday. After losing their last call for an investigation of our brave men and women in blue, the radical left is planning another all-out assault on the integrity and conduct of our officers at the upcoming Phoenix City Council session this Tuesday, September 12th. “It is time to tell these radicals that enough is enough: Phoenix stands behind the thin blue line. These agitators are the same people who caused the problems at the rally, and now expect to be rewarded for bad behavior,” said Sal DiCiccio. The Phoenix City Council is planning on hearing and voting on the creation of a citizen review panel overseeing police actions. Unfortunately, the history of these panels in other jurisdictions is clear: they do nothing to improve public safety, hurt morale in the police force, and work to create – rather than settle – controversies. This is the last thing Phoenix needs. Right now, a thorough review of the incidents of August 22nd is already underway, and any effort to subvert that process would be a mistake. This item will be added to the Mayor’s Policy agenda which is set for Tues, Sept 12 at 2:30 PM at the Phoenix City Council Chambers which is located at 200 W. Jefferson St. It is expected to be a packed house.

Francine L Romesburg: Opposition to Article 5 Balanced Budget Amendment Convention - Citizens of Arizona – Want to Save our Country? Be Aware, Be Vigilant and Ready to take a Stand for our Freedoms, our Liberty and the US Constitution. You said it would never happen. Tues, Sept 12, 2017 our Arizona State Legislators are hosting an official National Convention to authorize rules to be proposed to the First Article V approved Convention of States. We The Citizens must protest against this sham Convention. We, our Senators and Legislators have been deceived! HB2226 conveniently called Balanced Budget Amendment was passed and signed by our Governor. Sounds like a great idea, right? It isn’t. Read the bill. First know and understand it has been taken out of We The People’s hands. Delegates being selected and authorized to convene and vote at this Convention will be Governor’s from each State. We have no say so. If you thought as I did originally we citizens would have control over what transpires at this Convention of States, we were wrong. Want to get back to what our Founding Fathers intended with an Article 5 Convention; be in control; guarantee no ‘runaway’ convention, then make sure our voices are heard by being down at the Capital at noon, Tues, Sept 12, 2017, for the start of this Rules Planning Convention for 2018. It goes thru 3 pm., Fri., Sept 15. This 7 page Balanced Budget Amendment is actually a massive Tax Increase that we have no say so in. It is also a way to destroy our US Constitution, and throw in an Unconstitutional Unauthorized so called ‘impeachable’ offense of a sitting President if said President doesn’t sign on to the Amendment. Be there with signs and let your voices be heard in opposition to this Legislative piece of Deception.

AZGOP Secretary Gabriel Saucedo Mercer: My take on the Barack Hussein Obama's unconstitutional DACA program is that it is wrong to protect and make emotional examples of the unfortunate circumstances that surround these "children" who, through no fault of their own, ended up in the USA.  (The average age of dreamers is 25 or 26 years old-hardly children.) They should be grateful that they got a free education.  They should go back to their respective countries and start using their education to better themselves in their countries of origin and perhaps help their countries become great as now they have tools they can use. The United States does not owe them anything.  It is not the United States' responsibility to repair what these children's parents did.  I am sick and tired that our government that is not willing to stand for lawful Americans who cannot afford healthcare and repeal Obamacare, but now they are saying that 800,000 illegals have rights to get free education, free welfare, free food stamps, free medical care as all they have to do is go to the emergency room and they will not be denied medical care.   When is our government going to do the right thing for We The People, The AMERICAN PEOPLE? (Borrowed from the Colorado River Tea Party Newsletter.)

Warren Woodward of Sedona: Last week the administrative law judge at the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) filed her Recommended Opinion and Order (ROO) regarding the "smart" meter issues in the APS rate case. The ROO is her recommendation as to what she thinks the commissioners should do. Yesterday was the deadline to file "Exceptions" to the ROO. "Exceptions" are what an intervenor does not agree with. Her ROO gave APS everything it wanted regarding "smart" meters, so I filed an Exception to the whole thing yesterday. Among other issues, in my filing I expose the massive amount of bias and prejudice the judge engaged in both during the rate case hearings and in her ROO. I also expose what looks like an attempt to cover up accounting fraud. Persons interested in "smart" meter issues and the never ending injustice and lawlessness that has come to define the ACC will want to read my filing in full. docket.images.azcc.gov/0000182579.pdf The ACC commissioners will be deciding what to do this coming Tuesday, September 12. There is no agenda item for public comment at the meeting. It's clear from the first APS rate case meeting the commissioners held last month, in which they voted for the rate increase and the rest of the dreadful rate case proposals, that the commissioners don't listen to the public. So it's probably just as well that no one wastes their time going to speak anyway. An Arizona Republic story posted today reports on a poll that shows two thirds of Arizona voters think the ACC is corrupt. It's here: poll-arizona-voters-say-corporation-commission-corrupted

Rally For Law Enforcement along with other police supporters are urged to attend the 2:30 pm., Sept 12 Phoenix City Council policy meeting at the City Council Chamber, 200 W. Jefferson Street. Rally For Law Enforcement’s founder Nohl Rosen is encouraging police supporters to stand in support of the Phoenix Police Department at the meeting and also encourage the Phoenix City Council to vote no on the issue of creating a citizen review board to oversee Phoenix PD actions as well as set policy. “We will press for a no vote on creating a citizen review board. The last thing police officers need is citizens dictating how they should do their job. The police department already has an internal review process, they don’t need another one. This idea to create a citizen review board is just another plan by the left to demoralize police officers and render the police department ineffective. We need to stand by our cops and have their backs and we will be attending the meeting to show them our support,” Rosen said. Rally For Law Enforcement is encouraging police supporters to wear blue or pro-police shirts to show support for Phoenix PD at the meeting. For more information about Rally For Law Enforcement visit the movement’s web site at www.rallyforle.com or email catprotector@rallyforle.com.
