LD4 PC & Buckeye Elementary School District Governing Board member Richard Hopkins.  I invited Bob Branch and the other candidates for state school superintendent to the BESD Community Tour on Oct. 4.  I also invited several state legislators and others.  Contrary to what has been printed previously, this tour is open to the public with a prior RSVP so we know how much food to prepare and how many buses to have available.  Ours is probably the most transparent district in the state and everything we do (except mandatory statutorily exceptions) is open to the public, especially showing off our new technology rich school, built under budget and ahead of schedule.

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: This is probably the first we read in “the only official newsletter of the Republican Party” a comment by the AZGOP Chairman Johnathan Lines on the bylaws committee thing, “My thanks to Chairman Kathy Petsas (Maricopa LD28) and Co-Chairman Cindy Coleman (Pima LD10) for their skillful leadership and ability to engage a diverse group to find common ground.” That may be a little contradictory to some other reports received. Anyway, while the current AZ GOP bylaws doesn’t identify  who can submit amendments to the AZ GOP bylaws, the bylaws simply says, “An amendment to these bylaws may be proposed at any meeting called in accordance with these bylaws.“  So now we have a committee set up to submit amendments.  Then the current AZ GOP bylaws state, “A copy of the proposed amendment together with a statement explaining the purpose to be achieved and the reasons in support thereof shall be mailed to each member by the secretary with the notice of call for that meeting.”   The mailing and that meeting??  Will the secretary mail the proposed amendments; and when and where will that meeting be held?  Will it be a special meeting or the next official meeting mandatory meeting next January?   Only the shadow knows!  And then the current AZ GOP bylaws states, “A two-thirds vote of the members present in person or by proxy shall be necessary to pass any motion to amend.”  Finally, that’s when WE THE PEOPLE are heard to vote on Chairman Lines and Ms. Petsas amendments!  It’s time for the state chair to keep us up to date on the  progress on our “standing orders.”

When you state committeemen get your copy of the amended bylaws from secretary Mercer, read them carefully!  Of all the autocratic authority given to the state chair in the current bylaws and the lack of any corrective measures for bylaw violations, consider whether you rather have your county chairmen run the executive committee and hold the state chair responsible for representing WE THE PEOPLE or continue letting the state chair run the AZ GOP as he/she sees to do so?

Editor’s Note: As of yesterday afternoon, AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines announced that “…a form which allows anyone to provide input regarding the current bylaws and the proposed changes” can be obtained at bylaws form by clicking HERE.

La Paz County 1st Vice Chair Jennifer “Jade” Jones-Esposito: What a farce. Lines has received my emails regarding the mind numbingly unprofessional manner in which Petsas has handled herself and his official response is to prop her up rather than address anyone's serious concerns. I had high hopes for him initially, given that he was from neighboring Yuma rather than the megalopolis, but any remaining credibility was lost with the statement "The openness and transparency of their process should also be commended." This is a Committee where the members were not allowed to have each other’s contact information. At the July meeting, Petsas admonished us about even discussing the proceedings, stating "If something gets heated it's not to get out of here" and admitting that "Minutes are only for things we vote on". I now feel that Lines is not fit to lead even a local troupe of Girl Scouts let alone the AZGOP as I may need to buy a pair of muck boots at Tractor Supply to wade through all this b***s***.

LaPaz County Chairman Russell Sias: I told you before there was ever a bylaws committee, that Petsas was, well, I will be tactful...inept and deceitful.  She intentionally, as far as I am concerned, lied to me about "standing rules"  which she FINALLY admitted did not exist.  In my opinion, her invention of "standing  rules" was both intentional and nothing more than her own invention to stall me with BS to shut me down from suggesting a bylaw change.

Author Tom Morrissey: A new book, co-written by Steven Seagal and myself titled "The Way Of The Shadow Wolves" is now available on Amazon.  It is a  fiction based on fact and some events in the plot, although written over the past two years, are actually in today's headlines. In this novel you will see a storyline far different from the slanted and unrealistic storylines of many of today's books and Hollywood films. This is an action thriller, set in Arizona, which tells the story of an elite group of Native American trackers who are also tribal police officers. They stumble onto one of the biggest cases of corruption in American history.  "The Way Of The Shadow Wolves" is available now in Kindle on Amazon and will be available in paperback within a week

PC Dan Schultz: U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton has ordered the Justice Department and the attorneys representing pardoned former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to appear before her at 10am, Wed, Oct. 4, in court to present oral arguments on whether his criminal conviction, set aside by President Trump, should be set aside.  The Justice Department filed briefs, as did the attorneys representing Sheriff Arpaio, arguing that, unquestionably, the presidential pardon sets aside the conviction.  Only “friend of the court” briefs have argued otherwise.  Would you be able to make the time to attend this history-making proceeding, and bring your children, in support of our former Sheriff?  Would it not be wonderful if the courtroom was full of supporters of Sheriff Joe Arpaio and that the overflow crowd out in the hallway was huge?  Hearing information:  Please check the web site late in the afternoon the day before the hearing in case Judge Bolton cancels the hearing.  Please arrive at the door of the court house at least 30 minutes before the 10am starting time, as you will have to go through a metal detector.  The courtroom is at 401 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ  85003.  There is metered parking on the streets around the courthouse as well as public parking garages nearby.

Radio Talk Show Host Clair Van Steenwyk: The spoiled overpaid & uninformed NFL players seem to have the owners love of money over national pride figured out or at least they think they do. I don't believe the owners thought Americans would react in the manner in which they have cost them millions. Now let’s see how they respond. Hopefully it will be with a message of having their entire team in the NFL become totally committed to ending the violence in their own streets like Chicago, rather than demonstrating such disregard for Our National Anthem & Flag.

LD24 PC Tristan Manos sharing Phoenix City Council Meeting information and related resources: "Here's a good opportunity for you to see some of what's going on at Phoenix City Hall (in plain sight, anyway), maybe even going so far as to taking action on it yourself: working with stakeholders, working with city council members, and addressing the city council at city council public meetings. Maybe, you'll run for office in the future. At Phoenix City Hall, there's 8 Council Members and 1 Mayor. Only 3 of the 8 city council members are Republicans (REPs). The remaining 5 and the mayor are Democrats (DEMs). That makes 6 DEMs to 3 REPs. As per the Phoenix City Clerk Department: 'Click Phoenix City Council Meeting Mailing List to subscribe and keep up-to-date with information about Phoenix City Council Meetings. The City Clerk Department encourages Phoenix residents and businesses to register for the Council Meetings mailing list. By doing so, individuals will receive the meeting materials (both meeting agendas and meeting results) via email. The meeting materials are typically available on Thursday prior to a City Council meeting.' For an example of what you'll be getting via email  today's (Wednesday, 10/4/17) meeting agenda.
