Republican Briefs

LD23 State Committeemen Will Be Credentialed And Allowed To Vote at today’s AZGOP Statutory meeting in Phoenix per an agreement reached late this week between AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham and LD23 Chairman Nancy Ordowski, regarding a feud that had gone on since early December 2016 over the operational procedure of LD23s Dec 1, 2016 Organizational Meeting. See Letter of Understanding below:

GOP Leaders may have come to an agreement, the campaign camps of the two remaining AZGOP Chairman candidates – Jim O’Connor of Maricopa County and Jonathan Lines of Yuma County - continue their campaign efforts to make sure their team takes over the GOP headquarters in Phoenix for the next two years.

Last Night (AFA) Sent Out An Alert it had received that reads: "The church parking lot at tomorrow’s meeting place, which was once huge as been reduced in size. Lines’ voters have been told to be parked in the Church parking lot by 6 AM in order to force O’Connor voters to walk several blocks in the cold. Plan on being there and parked by 6:30…."

Editor’s Note: Folks, I don’t care whose cutesy, clever idea it is to purposely fill the parking lot to force state committeemen to walk several blocks in the cold is damn inconsiderate to the more mature segment, who suffer various health problems -  surgery recovery, breathing problems, etc or are otherwise forced to use scooters, walkers or canes to get around. Never mind the inconvenience to volunteers who are attempting to direct traffic in and around that parking lot before sun up. Shame on you. Will next year’s conventioneers find the handi-capped bathroom stalls locked shut with directives to port-a-johns at the far end of the block? -ft

The Turbulence Of Last Year’s state convention remains in the minds of many state committeemen, as they wonder if outgoing Chairman Robert Graham is bringing in the same outside parliamentarian whose rulings are still questioned.

Briefs Had The Pleasure of working with all three chairman candidates as Briefs sent 20 identical questions to them for posting, in an effort to help the State Committeemen become better acquainted with each of them. Candidate Frank Thorwald withdrew from the race on Thursday. The two remaining candidates – Lines and O’Connor, each have their strong points. Each has their weak points. Briefs does not endorse candidates. We have provided as much information as possible to our readers. It’s time for the State Committeemen to cast their ballots for the new chairman. Let’s hope common sense and civility prevail.- ft

The AZGOP Chairman’s Awards Dinner was held last night. Briefs has not received the award winners at post time.

AZGOP Chairman candidate Jim O’Connor: “Regarding my statement of having recruited 135 new PCs; my file is available for audit by anyone who wants to see the actual appointment forms. These appointments were made between January 2015 and March 2016.” 1-27-17-briefs Contact O’Connor at 602-538-9387

AZGOP Chairman candidate Jonathan W. Lines: “As I have learned during this campaign, people will lie and rumors will be spread. So you heard it from me first, if I am elected as state chairman I will not serve as the Yuma County Chairman.” 1-25-17 Briefs

You Have To Hand It To any/all candidates for putting themselves through these campaigns. They are subjected to all kind of verbal abuse, name calling, speculation, accusations – true and false, some hilarious rumors, some not so hilarious rumors, flat out lies, lost time with family and loved ones, jokes and fun poked at them, and lack of sack time. They must be exhausted by now.

On The Flip Side, when they enter a campaign they must expect well-kept secrets to come crawling out of the woodwork, speaking out of both sides of their mouths to catch up with them and they sometimes must carry the blame (shame) for the misbehavior of overzealous team members… And when intimidation tactics don’t work, pols and overly dedicated campaign team members invariably think reporters are biased in favor of the other guy when cold, hard truth gets printed. They also tend to get equally testy when their overly zealous, down right nasty, mean, and often times inaccurate commentary is rejected by an editor.- ft

LD4 2 Vice Chair Walt Steiner: Mr Robert Graham, what a wicked web you weave and have now been exposed in the act of manipulation. You are supposed to be the face of Arizona Republican integrity and fairness yet your true colors have shown again and again. As a State Committeeman for the great state of Arizona I demand that you personally chair a fair and constructive AZGOP meeting on Saturday the January 28th with no shenanigans. This job belongs to you and you alone and no other individual you so select such as a Parliamentarian, etc. If you feel you are incapable of this position requirement I ask that you step down from your leadership position in the party prior to the start of said meeting and not to bring embarrassment or division to the party. Way too many indicators point to deceit, harassment of duly elected State Committeeman, and behind the scene maneuvering in an effort to bring fraud to the election process for the Arizona State Chairmanship.

Chris Herring, Maricopa County Republican Party Chair, is calling for PCs to help Phoenix City Council candidate Chris De Rose (R) by walking for DeRose every Saturday between Feb 4 – March 12. Volunteers will gather between 9-10- am at AZGOP headquarters, 3501 N 24th St., in Phoenix. DeRose is running for the seat vacated by Bill Gates. Then a Democrat was appointed to replace Gates. Volunteers are asked to contact Whitney Lawrence Wnlawrence1@gmail.com. Also contact Whitney to have PCs set up to make phone calls from home.

A Little Confusion On Driving Directions resulted in “George Washington” aka Dr. Lance Hurley making a 140-mile round-trip drive while the Ahwatukee Tea Party thought they had been stood up. He promises to be back another day.

And Speaking Of Famous Ole George, he had a very successful appearance in Wickenburg on Inauguration day hosted by Marsha Hill, Scott Powelson and RJ Morris. Folks are still singing his praises.

We wish Asian American communities who are celebrating the start of the Lunar New Year a blessed and prosperous new year,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “Today is a time when many Asian American families will renew their hopes for the future, reflect on their accomplishments from the past year, and celebrate the contributions they have made to our country. Holidays such as today underscore how America is home to many rich cultural traditions, and we will continue to build an inclusive Republican Party which celebrates our diverse American heritage. As the Year of the Rooster begins, we wish all families who are coming together to ring in the new year ahead a joyful time of celebration.”

Jana Jackson, former Maricopa County Supt of Schools candidate, will speak at the Feb 8 Arrowhead Republican Women’s luncheon about her new book "Forgotten Soldiers - Children of Carpi”. The story is about a group of African-American U.S. soldiers who buried Jewish children who had died from abuses while in concentration camps. The book will be available for purchase at the luncheon.

Who Was the Real Margaret Sanger? will air at 6 pm (EST) on EWTN. The video is hyped as unmasking the contraceptive mentality and Planned Parenthood’s racist and eugenic roots. The goal is to teach high school students about the impact of abortion and contraception on society, about the connection between the eugenics movement and the Nazis, and about the ties between the sexual revolution and the destruction of the feminine genius in society. Feedback should be sent to Mary Flores at mflores@all.org. This special showing probably won’t appear on your TV daily schedule. (DIRECT TV is ch. 370, DISH is ch. 261, and COX is ch. 113)

President Trump Signs Executive Actions ‘To Keep Radical Islamic Terrorists Out' And For 'A Great Rebuilding Of The Armed Services.’ "I am establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America. We don't want them here," Trump said at the Pentagon as he signed the vetting order. "We want to ensure that we are not admitting into our country the very threats our soldiers are fighting overseas. We only want to admit those into our country who will support our country and love deeply our people."

Editor’s Note: Candidate announcements or statements are limited to 300 words. If longer, they will be edited to conform to policy.

Attention Republican Group Leaders: If your event announcement is not posted within 24 hours from the time you submitted it - Briefs did NOT receive it. Please resend it to either frostytaylor@cox.net or repcomm@cox.net. – Editor Frosty Taylor
