Highway 69 Republican Club Thomas Thurman: Our leadership decided that we will be closing the Highway 69 Republicans and Conservatives Club. We have been here since 2003 and sincerely appreciate all of you who have supported the Club. The money that the club has left will be given to the Yavapai County GOP, as we are an offshoot of the group. I would like to personally thank Matt Zurcher, Sen Judy Burges, Jim Edmonds, Frances and Mike Siavelis, my wife June, Jack Smith and many others for all the hard work and time they did for the club.

Frances Emma Barwood: After almost 15 years, the Highway 69 Republicans and Conservatives Club of Prescott is shutting down. Tom Thurman started the evening club in 2003, when there were no other Conservative clubs in the area.  See his statement http://www.highway69republicans.com. I joined and created a website and sent out the notices in 2007.  June Thurman took over the website 3 years ago. Jack Smith became co-chair around that time also.  It is hard to say goodbye to all our many friends from over the years.  However now there are many other Republican clubs all over the area and rather than compete, it is time for new places, faces and speakers.  Keep active and join with making America Great Again.  Thank you.

AZ GOP Chairman Jonathan Lines to Precinct Committeemen: First and foremost, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your chairman. Whether you supported me or my opponent, at the end of the day it is my job to serve every single Republican PC, and I take that charge very seriously. Everyone will have a voice, because everyone has a stake in our success.

In my remarks to the State Committee on Saturday, I made several promises of what we would accomplish over the next 100 days: an enhanced training program, data accessibility and transparency, and fundraising. I'd add that we are also going to put increased focus on voter registration, youth recruitment, and coalition building.

Each of these areas of focus will take buy-in from our entire committee, but I know that together we can do it, and strengthen our PCs even more. We’re unstoppable if we work together.

To that end, I'm asking each Precinct Committeeman to view and Click here to complete AZGOP PC Survey. I want to know, from YOU, what you consider to be the most important area of focus. I also want to know if you'd consider serving on one or more committees that my team and I are going to create, to help guide the implementation of our 100 day plan. Thank you for your continued dedication to our party, to our state and our nation. I am excited to be working with you.

The White House plans to appeal U.S. District Judge James Robart’s Friday evening ordered a halt to President Trump’s travel ban on citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries. The White House says the Justice Department will file an emergency request to stop a court order temporarily halting President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration. "At the earliest possible time, the Department of Justice intends to file an emergency stay of this order and defend the executive order of the President, which we believe is lawful and appropriate. The president's order is intended to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people," White House press secretary Sean Spicer said in a statement.

Pima County Republican Party Chairman David Eppihimer, was scheduled to be on Andrea Kelly's political TV show on PBS, KUAT-TV CH 6 at 6:30pm last night with Jo Holt, his counterpart for the Pima County Democrat Party.

Peoria Activist Dennis Zinke: My wife and I volunteer at the Republican Office in Sun City. Recently I have been hearing rumblings against Robert Graham, the former AZGOP Chairman. I came to know Graham when he came to our office to give us a pep talk and to offer his support on how we can have a ‘POSITIVE’ influence in our communities. He has been back to our office on numerous occasions to discuss various issues. In all this time I have never heard Graham attack or demean another Republican. There may be issues or differences, but the only time he would make mention is if someone would bring up the issue and then Graham would only mention why he believed as he did and move on. Graham has always been positive and up lifting. Do I agree with him on everything, no; but I will also admit that I do not have his background or experience. Since attending the meetings at the West Valley Republican office I have seen the party grow. What started out as a place for people to come in to discuss their concerns, the West Valley Republican Office has grown from 5 to as many as 50 people for the Tuesday morning ‘coffee’. Mr. Graham walk on water, no; Can those who disagree with Mr. Graham walk on water? Again, can any of us walk on water? The answer again is ‘NO’. None of us are perfect. Where we disagree, can’t we disagree peaceably? So let’s pull together. We can’t afford to have little things tear us apart. Let’s stay focused, let’s stay one and let us move ahead in the coming days as a united party.

Minnesota-Towns-Residents-To-Carry-Their-Cross-Battle-To-City-Council Atheists wage war over cross in veterans memorial. Residents prepare for battle Hundreds of Belle Plaine citizens are expected to crowd the city council chambers on Monday evening to back a motion allowing a contentious cross to be welded back onto the steel statue of a mourning soldier in the city’s Veterans Memorial Park.

The veterans’ club, which installed the metal sculpture last year, removed the cross (depicting an overseas U.S. military gravesite) early this month to save the city from a lawsuit threatened by the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

Trump-Threatens-To Cut -Berkeley-University Funding; Receives-$370-Million-Federal-Funding UC Berkeley last year received $370 million in funding from the federal government, underlining the seriousness of President Trump’s threat to withdraw funding following leftist riots at the college yesterday. The riots, which were a successful effort to prevent Breitbart Senior Editor MILO from speaking at the university, were condemned by President Donald Trump, who earlier threatened to take away the university’s federal funding. “If U.C Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?,” Trump wrote.

McCain-Makes-Nice-Australia-After-Trum’s-Blunt-Talk-Pm Senator John McCain on Thursday blasted President Trump's "blunt" telephone talk with Australia's prime minister as "unnecessary and frankly harmful" and then tried to mend fences with the longtime ally.

Former LD13 Chairman Robert Branch: John McCain Does not speak for the United States! Trump is our President!...Australian “Refugees” - Why? Why did the courts in Australia rule those refugees can’t stay in Australia’s Refugee camp? Australia is a free country, Australia is a democracy, and they have plenty of land and resources. Why don’t the people of Australia open their arms to those refugees? One reason, Australia cares about the security of its people....
So, why did Obama agree to accept them into the United States?

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

300 word limit policy. If statements exceed the limit, it will be edited

Congresswoman Martha McSally after the Treasury Department announced new sanctions on Iran. “It’s about time we got serious about holding Iran accountable for its dangerous and destructive behavior. These sanctions send a strong message that Iran cannot continue to test ballistic missiles and fund terrorism with impunity. Reversing the feckless Middle East policies of the last eight years will not happen overnight, but this is a good start.”

Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on President Trump’s decision to impose additional sanctions on Iran: “I welcome President Trump’s decision to impose additional sanctions on Iran. For too long, a myopic focus on the Iran nuclear deal blinded the United States to Iran’s persistent campaign to destabilize the Middle East and undermine America’s national security interests. Iran has been given a free pass to detain U.S. sailors in clear violation of international law, conduct ballistic missiles tests in violation of United Nations resolutions, support terrorist groups across the region, and prop up the murderous Assad regime in Syria. It is long past time for the United States and the international community to hold Iran accountable, not just for its commitments under the nuclear deal, but for its destabilizing behavior across the Middle East. I hope the measures announced today by the Trump administration will serve as a first step towards a comprehensive strategy to counter Iran’s malign influence and protect America’s national security interests.”

COUNCILMEN SPEAK

300 word limit. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio: Phoenix to Vote on Sanctuary City Status, I Will Vote NO. Phoenix City Council will vote on a request for Sanctuary City status on February 15th at a formal council meeting. I am firmly opposed to the effort to make Phoenix a Sanctuary City.  I don't believe any local government should be able to pick and choose the laws they want to enforce.  Additionally, I believe such a move would be illegal and would put our officers in the unethical position of having to ignore their oath to uphold state and federal laws.
