"Without the National Federation of Republican Women, there would be no Republican Party."  - Barry Goldwater, from an NFRW news release, ca. 1955

Graham-And-McCain-Need-To-Get-A-Grip While the rest of the Republican Party is busy celebrating the Make America Great Again movement and hoping for good things to come out of the Trump era, Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain can apparently not come to terms with the new direction of the conservative movement. Every time they get in front of a microphone, we can only conclude that they would have been much happier with President Hillary. Last week, it was McCain’s turn to tell our friends in Germany that Trump’s ideas were not those of America. This week, he’s letting Graham take the lead with an uncalled for assault on the new White House budget proposal. Graham told reporters, “It’s not going to happen. It would be a disaster.”…

John McCain, Lindsey Graham Get Emotional describing friendship: 'I love him to death' …Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham both ended a CNN town hall wiping away tears Wednesday night, coming as the two leading Republican foreign policy hawks explained their close, years-long friendship. "I feel like I'm on Oprah now," Graham joked.

Former AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey: I beg to differ with the comment that the AZ GOP "has never underwritten" the Emancipation Proclamation Anniversary Celebration.  To the best of my memory, when I was chairman, we did help to begin the tradition of the celebration of this, the greatest proclamation in the history of our nation, by underwriting the event.   Along with that, we applauded the efforts of Chairman Clyde Bowen and Dr CT Wright for making it all happen.  This is not an easy event to produce and it behooves all of us to support Chairman Bowen and Dr Wright to make certain that this celebration goes off without a hitch every year. Editor’s Note: Morrissey refers to e-mail messages between Bowen and AZGOP headquarters that circulated after Bowen submitted several invoices on Thursday to the AZGOP for reimbursement for the March 25 “5th Annual Emancipation Proclamation Observance/Official Black History Month Celebration” in Phoenix. Friday morning, Will Smith at the AZGOP office informed Bowen that the AZGOP has agreed to give Bowen $500 to help with expenses for the event. Friday evening Bowen sent an e-mail to former Chairman Robert Graham that reads, “So, there we are! What passes for underwriting. We will address the shortfall. Perhaps it was our misunderstanding. After all, every past chairman has welcomed the efforts of the AAARC in the arena of EPOD, etc. The event was a success for the Party! Chairman Lines rode the bounce. We will move on. If you would like to help, we don't even have a donate button, just 21 years of donating our time to AAARC & the Party. A check to AAARC would help.”

Activist Richard W Hawkins of Lake Havasu City, AZ: Too many Republicans have succumbed to the brain numbing mantra's of the fake news mainstream propaganda machines and fail to focus on what is important.  This has allowed too many of our elected representatives to wander far from their oaths of office.  What is required is our reclaiming us, We the People, the sovereigns of this nation and putting those we elected into office back to their rightful positions as our servants.  We have allowed them to become our masters along with the entrenched, unelected bureaucrats of government departments and agencies. My suggestion to turn our national and state failings around is for us to greatly minimize wasted time watching and listening to the mainstream propaganda machines and focus on the 2016 Republican Platform along with spending time reading and truly understanding the Organic Laws of the United States.  The Declaration of Independence to understand the purpose of civil government.  The US Constitution to understand the structure and organization of civil government.  The Articles of Confederation and the Northwest Ordinance to help elucidate the meaning of the Constitution and Declaration.   To purposely and regularly meet with each other to help encourage and teach the deeper meanings of these documents and become a unified force before those we put into office. Soliciting the help from Jesus Christ would be most appropriate and putting our trust in Him once again to bless this nation is essential.  In God we Trust.

Gov Doug Ducey: Frosty -- In February, DHS Secretary John Kelly joined us to tour the Arizona-Mexico border in Nogales. CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

300 word limit policy. If statements exceed the limit, it will be edited

Congressman Paul A. Gosar in response to bogus accusations from Democratic leaders falsely accusing Attorney General Jeff Sessions of lying to Congress: “Democrats appear to be stuck on the denial stage of grief in the wake of getting shellacked in the 2016 elections. The latest accusations against Attorney General Jeff Sessions are clearly a desperate attempt to distract from President Trump’s widely praised Joint Address to Congress. There is zero evidence to suggest Attorney General Sessions acted inappropriately for doing his job as a Senior member of the Armed Services Committee. To interpret his answers during his confirmation hearing as ‘lying to Congress’ requires a stunning level of ignorance and deceit. While I am glad to see that Democratic leaders in Congress have started caring about government accountability once again, their dishonest actions to undermine the president are disgraceful. I’m proud to stand by the Attorney General and I call on all members of Congress to stop wasting time on sideshow distractions and personal attacks and focus instead on border security, tax reform and restoring the free markets--the very issues Americans support and deserve.”

Congressman Andy Biggs was named FreedomWorks’ Member of the Month for March. Congressman Biggs received this recognition for being an advocate for individual liberty and federalism throughout his first two months in Congress. FreedomWorks specifically mentioned Congressman Biggs’ work on the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, the Right to Try Act, and H.R. 899, which eliminates the Department of Education. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement: “I am thankful for this recognition from FreedomWorks, which highlights my work in Congress. Last year, I promised my constituents that I would fight to achieve six major goals in the 115thCongress, and I have fought to bring those issues to the forefront of national conversation. Americans expect nothing less from their representation in Congress, and I am honored to be the voice of my constituents from Arizona’s Congressional District Five.”

Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Paul A. Gosar after U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke signed a Secretarial Order overturning a midnight United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) directive that banned the use of traditional lead based ammunition and tackle on federal lands: “On his first day on the job, Secretary Zinke has shown that he is here to listen and to serve; a welcome departure from the actions displayed by the Department of the Interior over the past eight years. By repealing this misguided  Fish and Wildlife Service directive that failed to involve those closest to the issue, our hunters and fishermen can continue to enjoy the outdoors and help maintain healthy population levels of wildlife,” said Gosar. “I couldn’t be happier to see reason and logic prevail and look forward to the many successes we will accomplish with Zinke holding the reins. Background:On March 2, 2017 Department of the Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke issued a Secretarial Order 3346, which increases hunting, fishing, and recreation opportunities nationwide. The orders deliver on promises made by both President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Zinke to expand access to America’s public lands. The action was hailed by representatives from sportsmen, conservation, and recreation organizations. The order overturned a midnight directive issued by the Obama regulation that banned lead ammunition and fish tackle from being used on USFWS waters, facilities and lands. Secretarial Order 3346 Here.

Congresswoman Martha McSally yesterday introduced legislation to require a stress test of U.S. government protection and prevention programs against terrorist travel. The bill implements a recommendation made by the Task Force on Combating Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel, on which McSally served. The Task Force investigated U.S. security vulnerabilities and the threat posed by ISIS for six months and released a report last Congress containing 32 key findings and over 50 recommendations to keep Americans safe. “The last major test of our security systems aimed at preventing terrorist travel was done in 2009. Since then, ISIS’s rise and spread across the globe has created new challenges for law enforcement, and we must be able to ensure we are prepared,” said McSally. “This was a top recommendation from a task force I served on focused on combating foreign fighter travel. We should not delay in moving this critical legislation forward and taking the necessary steps to ensure we are doing all we can to keep Americans safe.” The last major government exercise on terrorist travel was conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 2009. The test focused primarily on terrorists attempting to infiltrate the United States. In their Task Force recommendations, McSally and her colleagues found that law enforcement today should also be addressing the threat of Americans leaving the country to train overseas with terrorist groups as foreign fighters. Last Congress, McSally introduced similar legislation, which passed the House on June 11, 2016.

Sen Jeff Flake, chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power, this week welcomed representatives from Arizona's counties to Washington. To mark their arrival, Flake began his "Earth, Wind, and Fire Week," an initiative during which he introduced a total of seven land, air, and forestry bills designed to ease burdensome regulations and provide for more economic development and infrastructure investment in rural Arizona. Flake kicked off the week by reintroducing three "Wind" bills to rein in overreaching and economically harmful Environmental Protection Agency air regulations. bills here. “Arizona ratepayers and businesses shouldn’t be forced to shoulder the burden of EPA’s costly, convoluted regulations,” said Flake. “By holding EPA accountable for its actions, we can keep our air clean without creating job-killing regulatory uncertainty.” Flake also reintroduced three "Earth" bills that will provide for more private land ownership and local control over rural roads in Arizona. bills here. “With nearly half of the land in our state under federal control, Arizonans miss out on the economic opportunities and property tax bases that help bolster communities in other states,” said Flake. “These bills will empower Arizonans to diversify our local economies and improve rural road systems that are essential lifelines for rural communities.” Flake concluded his "Earth, Wind, and Fire" initiative by reintroducing legislation to prevent catastrophic wildfires and promote healthy forests. Read more about the bill here. “Long-term stewardship contracting needs to be in the federal government’s toolbox to combat catastrophic wildfires,”said Flake.“We should be using all tools at our disposal to restore Arizona’s forests and protect our communities.”

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

300 word limit. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

2018 US Senate candidate Dr. Kelli Ward: Earlier this week, President Trump made his first address to Congress where he outlined his agenda to restore the rule of law, freedom, health care, rights and to secure our borders. With his leadership, our country is taking a step in the right direction. But the fight has just begun. The Washington establishment has ignored the will of the people for far too long. Americans are sick and tired. That's why I am running. While fake conservatives and liberals try to shut us down, we must stand together to fight for the values that make this country so great. defeat the DC machine We don’t have the corrupt big money donors that they have, but we have the will of the people on our side. Our biggest strength is in numbers, and conservative champions like you are going to power this campaign to victory. It’s time to start electing fighters, not liberals masquerading as conservatives — together, we’ll make Arizona great again!
