Newly Elected AZGOP Chairman Johnathan Lines told Republicans in yesterday’s AZGOP Update that the AZGOP “is spearheading a national legal battle over ballot harvesting and voter abuse.” You may recall that Gov Doug Ducey signed legislation in March 2016 outlawing ballot harvesting in Arizona. That signature prompted AZ Dems to file suit against the GOP backed legislation in April - that wound up with the Supreme Court ruling in November 2016 in support of the Arizona law us-supreme-court-oks-arizona-ballot-collection-ban. Reports have circulated in political circles for several weeks of a large AZGOP debt owed to a prestige’s law firm. Lines wrote yesterday “…And as I learned in my second week as AZ GOP Chairman, our party has incurred some legal bills that must be paid.” Lines mentioned neither legal counsel, nor amounts owed. Lines asked for donations for his newly created Special Legal Defense Fund to pay existing legal fees and keep the party moving forward.
Briefs readers are wondering why Lines, the immediate past two-year AZGOP treasurer who was sworn into the chairmanship on Jan 28, 2016, is just learning of the legal bill that was growing throughout 2016. Former Maricopa County Republican Chairman Lyle Tuttle (now a LD21 PC) verified that he e-mailed Lines yesterday afternoon, asking, “How much, to whom, and for what? Does any of this debt have to do with the LD23 debacle?” Lines responded, “No, this is only for the ballot-harvesting suit. The state party does not have any legal fees for the LD23 issue.”
As the AZGOP Executive Committee meets with Lines in Yuma on March 11, they should be asking exactly how much legal debt the Party has incurred, who the debt is owed to, and whether the Party has any other large foreseeable bills. They must be wondering why they weren’t informed of this debt during the Jan 28 State Convention? Precinct committeemen should expect that information to be provided to them by their LD chairmen at their next legislative district meetings since PCs (the worker bees) are being asked to dig in their already campaign drained pockets to help pay off this debt. – ft
Ironically, the newly elected AZGOP Treasurer Bob Lettieri, didn’t learn until the evening of Feb 27, that his new role doesn’t include handling the 2017-18 AZGOP budgets. During his presentation to the Wickenburg Republican Club, he mentioned that while driving to Wickenburg, he had phoned Chairman Johnathan Lines regarding his duties as the new treasurer and learned that the Party Chairman controls the budget. Lettieri reported that he can’t access the immediate past treasury books because of an audit in process. Fresh books are currently being set up. Lettieri, who has “been responsible for providing shareholders, investors and regulatory agencies with information demonstrating accountability at the highest level in the private sector for the past 23 years” said he plans to be in the AZGOP office Tuesday and Friday afternoons. - ft
Movie Producer Dinesh D'Souza writes: Apparently I Made The Worst Film Of The Year -- This week, Hillary's America won four Razzie awards, including Worst Film, Worst Director, Worst Actor, and Worst Actress. I couldn't be more thrilled! You see, my audience—you and your friends—love the fact that the Hollywood elite hate me! Winning an Oscar would be the death-knell of my career, but a Razzie? I'll take it! If I had won an Oscar from these Hollywood clowns I'd Really be embarrassed! Sweeping the Razzie Awards isn't actually a reflection of our movie, it's a reflection of the politics of Hollywood. Hillary's America continues to draw out the Left's fury because it deals with themes they have been covering up for the better part of a century: their complicity in slavery, segregation, lynching, the KKK, and almost every other sin they now try to lay at the feet of Republicans. Stream Hillary’s America for yourself. In winning this award, I want to thank you for helping to get our message out. In fact, because of your hard work, I now have over 2 million friends on Facebook! This huge milestone symbolizes the way our movement has grown over the last few years: from the bottom up, and with the help of each and every one of you. Because of your passion for truth and the restoration of America, people are taking notice.
Former Fountain Hills Republican Club Chairman Chris Brant: Survey: First 40 Days -- For those who worked the Republican booth at the Fountain Hills Great Fair we had many happy Republicans visit us over the three days and a few disgruntled Democrats. This was reinforced by the results from the short survey that 67 visitors to our booth filled out.
Two Republicans and one Democrat were not happy with Donald Trump’s performance. One of the Republicans gave no reason and the other one suggested that he, “tone down his hyperboles”.
One Democrat and one Independent were very happy with the Donald.
All the other Republicans (63) were very supportive and their answers to the question, “Why”, had a common thread: “He followed up on campaign promises”; “He is doing what he promised”; “Doing what he said”; “Has my interests at heart”; “He is doing everything he said he would do”; “Doing what he promised on the campaign trail”; “He is doing exactly what he said he would”; “He is standing by his promises”; “Does as promised, doesn’t care about the popular opinion”; “Speaks his mind doesn’t sugar coat anything” ; “He is keeping his promises and doing what is best for the Nation”; “First time in my life someone cares about the people”.
Another frequently expressed sentiment was, “Working hard”; “Getting things done”; “Trump has done more in one month than Obama did in 8 years”; “Best working President ever”.
Names that consistently came up when addressing the question about “Best Appointments”: Secretary of State Tillerson; Secretary of Mattis; Home Land Security Kelly; Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch; Sessions; Carson; Kelly Ann; Scott Pruitt; Secretary of Education; all of them.
The last question on the survey was, “Top 3 Priorities”. Those most mentioned included: Tax Reform; Build the Wall; Welfare and Immigration Reform; Obamacare Repeal; Economy (Jobs); Seal the Border; Education; Illegals out! Brant is a long-time LD23 PC and former Fountain Hills Republican Club Chairman.
Floating Around The Net: Why people voted for Trump -- I was the silent citizen. I’ve watched our schools turn into liberal propaganda breeding grounds and I kept silent. I watched our military vets suffer while more and more money was allocated for welfare, food stamp and illegal immigrants and I kept silent. I watched jobs and factories leave the USA for decades and I kept silent. I heard President Obama inflame racist hatred towards law enforcement and I kept silent. I watched as an 100% Democratic Congress passed Obama Care while stating we needed to pass it to find out what’s in it, and I kept silent. I watched President Obama lie straight to my face about keeping my doctor and current health plan, he lied about lower premiums and deductibles, I lost my doctor of many years, but still I stayed silent. My pay check continued to shrink while my taxes were raised, but still I stayed silent. I watched my own Governments refusal to call terrorism what it truly was, but still I stayed silent. I finally heard a candidate named Donald Trump begin to say the things out loud that I was thinking and I’m NO LONGER the silent citizen. I am now the empowered citizen that will voice my opinion and stand up for what’s just and right. I will now do all I can to help secure the American dream for my family and for generations to come! I AM A LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZEN AND WILL NOT BE SILENT ANY LONGER!
LD23 PC Lynn Breyer: Your article in the 3-3-17 Briefs from the Arizona Corporation Commission reminded me of something people should know. I recently had a conversation with a precinct committeeman about his problem with APS. His home just outside Payson lost power in January due to a big storm. The whole neighborhood was without power but eventually every home had their power restored - except this PC's. For weeks he tried to get APS to restore his power (imagine his refrigerator and freezer after weeks with no power), hearing one excuse after the other. In frustration, he contacted a LD23 PC and Corporation Commissioner Doug Little, for help. The same day, this PC got a call from APS and within hours, his power was finally restored. We are quick to criticize our elected officials. I think it's appropriate to publicly thank them when they go the extra mile to help a rate payer. Thank you, Commissioner Little, for your service to the communities of Arizona.
Arizona Town Crier Jim Ely: Wouldn't it be something if our AZ GOP Executive Committee had the authority to hold the state chairman responsible for party values and bylaws? In ‘The Only Official Newsletter of the Arizona Republican party’ the chair said, “Unfortunately, over the last few weeks, a small minority of PCs have chosen to use their time and energy to attack our fellow Republicans. There has been name-calling. There have been exclusions. There have been political scores to settle. And, of course, fake news designed to pit one group of Republicans against another. It is unacceptable. It should not be tolerated, and if we don't put a stop to it, it will be our downfall.” Some do not know what he is talking about. What does one expect when Republican state legislators side with the Democrats to pass ‘Obamacare’, and a censured US senator gets re-elected. Where is the AZ GOP leadership when some are still trying to undermine the selected POTUS? He didn’t mention letting the new secretary have immediate access to the old office records! The chair says, “I'm not interested in who started it. I'm not worried about personal vendettas. I frankly am only interested in one thing: winning elections.’ His prognosis is: “If you are dedicated to registering more Republicans. If you are committed to recruiting more PCs, to knocking on doors, to making calls and turning out the vote I will have your back, every single time.” When does the AZ GOP ever hold the elected elite accountable? Where is the effort to unite us? Who wants to ‘carry water’ for the chair’s own aggrandizement? This diatribe will probable get the old Town Crier kicked off his email list, but until he changes the bylaws, it’s not the bickering that will be our downfall. It will be the lack of leadership!
Homeland-Security-Considering-Separating-Families-Illegally-Crossing-Border The Department of Homeland Security is considering a proposal to separate women and children who illegally cross the U.S. border together in an effort to deter undocumented immigration, a senior Homeland Security official confirmed to ABC News. The plan was first reported Friday by Reuters, which noted that "part of the reason for the proposal is to deter mothers from migrating to the United States with their children. It is something that is being considered," the Homeland Security official said

3 MAIN OBJECTIONS TO SB1314
- No Parental Consent Provision, leaving parents without an opportunity to make an informed decision about the information that private, multi-billion dollar corporations have about their children. internet confusing-consumers
- Student Browser History is Unprotected. Google is used by 66% of Americans. This Bill allows Google and other Big Tech businesses to know which search terms, page links, page clicks, bookmarks, and more, that a student uses in real time. Google has a history of lawsuits in the US and EU accusing the Tech Giant of violating their own Student Privacy Pledge and misusing student data!
- Sensitive PII (Personally Identifiable Information) is accessible for adaptive learning without Parental consent.
- Adaptive learning means a student is using a computer which adjusts the curriculum to the user. PII can be used for educational research as well as for commercial R&D, to benefit the tech company. Parents should be asked to Opt In for this and told which information is being used, how, and why.

Democratic Virginia Gov Terry McAuliffe vetoed a bill that would require investigations of jurisdictions in the state whose voter rolls contain more registered voters than citizens who are eligible to vote. The bill, first introduced by Republican state Sen. Mark D. Obenshain, was prompted by a report that shed light on eight Virginia counties that had more registered voters on their voter rolls than eligible voters. Obenshain’s bill would require “the local electoral boards to direct the general registrars to investigate the list of persons voting at an election whenever the number of persons voting at any election in a county or city exceeds the number of persons registered to vote in that county or city,” according to its summary.
