Republican Briefs

A group Payson, AZ clip_image002residents came together for a few hours Saturday morning to shout out their support for newly elected President Donald J Trump. They stood on the sidewalks of the main highway through town and were greeted by honking horns and "thumbs up for President Trump" signals from a multitude of drivers and passengers.  It was uplifting and encouraging to those of us who strongly support him.  This is small town America in action. Newly elected AZGOP Treasurer Bob Lettieri provided the Wickenburg Republican Club with some interesting data during his Feb 27 presentation. Referring to his campaign research notes, the soft-spoken, non-nonsense, 23-year professional numbers cruncher, opened his presentation with, “Hypothetically, if you were a shareholder in a company that in six years lost 61% of its customer base I think you would be concerned. If the same company six years ago generated 14.7% of its revenue from major customers and this fiscal cycle generated 76.4% of its revenue from major customers that should be cause for concern.  Your concern would be that a loss of any one major customer could lead to financial instability of the company. Additionally over the most current reporting cycle the total receipts of this company were 30% less than its closest competitor. He continued, “This exactly what’s happening to the AZGOP.

  • In the election cycle of 2012 the AZGOP received 1,539 Itemized Individual contributions from 1,055 contributors.
  • In the 2016 cycle, 597 itemized individual contributions from 378 contributors. A decrease of 64% in contributor’s
  • In the 2012 cycle, 14.8% of Itemized Individual contributions came from major contributors.
  • In 2016 the AZGOP received 76.4% of Itemized Individual contributions from major contributors. This represents an increase of 62% in Itemized Individual contributions from major contributors.

He pointed out, “In the election cycle of 2016 the AZGOP received $1,133,729 of itemized individual contributions from 378 contributors with the Republicans representing 34.6% of registered voters. By contrast in the election cycle of 2016 the AZ Democratic Party received $1,233,239 of Itemized Individual contributions from 1,830 contributors with 30.4% of registered voters being Democrats.

“Doesn’t this mean that the Democrats are getting more participation and broadening their base of active supporters while our AZGOP are content to rely on fewer and fewer while allowing the AZGOP to rely on larger but fewer Republicans that are contributing there financial resources,” said. He noted that in the election cycle of 2016 the AZ Democratic Party received 30% or $2,265,751 more in Total receipts (from all sources which includes Itemized Individual contributions) than the AZGOP.  He is working on a plan to reverse these negative trends. “We can do much better,” he said.

While driving to Wickenburg, he had phoned Chairman Johnathan Lines regarding his duties as the new treasurer and learned that the Party Chairman controls the budget. Lettieri reported that he can’t access the immediate past treasury books because of an audit in process. Fresh books are currently being set up. Lettieri, who has “been responsible for providing shareholders, investors and regulatory agencies with information demonstrating accountability at the highest level in the private sector for the past 23 years” said he plans to be in the AZGOP office Tuesday and Friday afternoons. - ft

James Alberts: I think Dinesh D'Souza should make a movie about John McCain’s America, don't think it would be much different the Hillary’s America!

Gary Ripley: Hmmmm...supposedly obama couldnt get a FISA warrant in June to wiretap Trump. He was able to get one later though, with timing extraordinarily close to mccain giving a phony "dossier" on Trump to the FBI. Coincidence?

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ely: From 3-4-17-Briefs “Ironically, the newly elected AZGOP Treasurer Bob Lettieri, didn’t learn until the evening of Feb 27, that his new role doesn’t include handling the 2017-18 AZGOP budgets. During his presentation to the Wickenburg Republican Club, he mentioned that while driving to Wickenburg, he had phoned Chairman Johnathan Lines regarding his duties as the new treasurer and learned that the Party Chairman controls the budget. - ft

Look’s like Letteri’s hands may be tied.  According to the autocratic bylaws, “The treasurer shall receive all monies provided for the state committee, be custodian of the funds received, and disburse same upon order of the state chairman.”

New state chair in AZGOP Update: “And as I learned in my second week as AZ GOP Chairman, our party has incurred some legal bills that must be paid.”    Looks like Graham left Lines ‘a bucket of worms.’  And Lines said, “I am committed to raising the funds necessary to pay off our existing legal bills, and to fund the case going forward.”  Is he going to try that himself or direct his Finance Chairman/ Committee to come up with such a plan? 2. Finance Chairman : The finance chairman shall raise funds for the party.

Executive committee:  “The executive committee shall approve the annual budget and review and counsel the state chairman on all programs relating to the state party.”  It would be assumed that if the Executive Committee has the authority to approve the AZ GOP budget that they would have some authority over the spending.

Side note - - Has the new secretary seen the AZ GOP records, yet??  The AZ GOP autocratic bylaw is overdue for a review if apathy doesn’t prevail.  How many county chairs will step up to the plate?? (Editor’s Note: The secretary now has copies of the official minutes from 2003 – but not the other requested records.)

Bob Richards of Glendale: Remedy for Religious Myth --  Political pollution coupled with the art of miss-communication to destroy freedoms have now become the hallmark of PC types behaving in unreasonable ways such as rioting in streets across the Nation sowing discord where they can to avenge grievances for the loss of power politically in the last election cycle. Cruel and oppressive government regulations imposed by bureaucracies are being exposed and are swiftly being dealt with by the Trump Administration. The fear that citizens bettering themselves and becoming economically free via jobs appeals to persons wanting to move from one rung of the economic or social ladder to the next disarms the previous hierarchy power hungry political elites. So, what’s left for the left? The "Fake News Artist" promotes discourse at length about racial minorities, women’s rights, gender identity, and have become practitioners of apparatchiks smears. Obama hold over’s embedded in bureaucratic agencies leak to media mind control freaks classified data as fodder to perverse truths, corrupt speech, and promote propaganda against the current Administration. To cap such chaos they play “The Race Card”. Someone has said, "In the last decade America has had a black president, two black secretaries of state, and three women secretaries of state, achieve law enforcement officer who was black and so forth, and so on.” This racial radical creed is a religious myth—the most destructive religious myth in the history of our Nation or perhaps mankind.  What can be done? Pray!“May God arise and his enemies be scattered”.

The Ongoing Investigation Of At Least Four Cases of E.coli in Maricopa and Coconino counties is part of a larger multi-state investigation of 12 cases in five states. In Arizona, all cases are children under the age of 5 years old. Half of the Arizona cases have been hospitalized for this disease; each one of the reported cases have recovered from their illness. E. coli infection ranges from mild to severe, with symptoms lasting about five to seven days in most people. Symptoms of E. coli include diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, and abdominal pain. Young children, the elderly, and the immuno-compromised are at risk of developing Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), a potentially life-threatening illness that can cause kidney failure. “Individuals with symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping should seek medical attention if they develop bloody diarrhea or cannot drink enough fluids to keep hydrated," said Dr. Rebecca Sunenshine, medical director for Maricopa County Department of Public Health. “We are asking healthcare providers to get stool cultures if they suspect E. coli especially in young children.” For more information about E. coli, please visit our website to view answers to frequently asked questions.

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after introducing H.R. 1341, the Stop Foreign Donations Affecting Our Elections Act, a bill that closes certain loopholes in order to prevent the campaign donations of foreign nationals from influencing American elections, a practice which has been banned since 1966: “In recent years, our federal election laws have garnered much debate from across the ideological spectrum. One part of the campaign finance issue that has become commonplace in the 21st century is the receipt of campaign contributions paid by credit cards online. Current disclosure requirements for online donations make it easy for bad actors to violate federal contribution limits, or worse, for foreign money to influence U.S. elections. As technology advances, we must continue to stay ahead of the curve in thwarting those who wish to inappropriately influence our political processes. Full disclosure of online contributions will ensure that the American people know the sources of campaign money and will greatly assist with maintaining a system of free and fair elections.” Full text HERE

Congressman Paul A. Gosar in support of La Paz County’s efforts to develop one of the largest solar power generation centers in the country: “La Paz County ranks as one of the top solar regions in the entire world. Developing this abundant resource will not only make southwest Arizona a top renewable energy producer in the country, it will also result in widespread economic growth and job creation. The massive size of the federal estate in La Paz County presents real obstacles to the proposed solar generating project. This is an opportunity for common sense legislation that will allow for local officials to responsibly utilize this vital resource. I will continue to work with the County on legislation in the 115th Congress to ensure this project can maximize its positive impact for local jobs, revenue and renewable energy development.” Background: Congressman Gosar introduced H.R. 6491 during the previous Congress which would have authorized the Secretary of the Interior to convey land to La Paz County, Arizona, in order to create economic development opportunities and facilitate renewable electricity generation in La Paz County. Click HERE for more information.County leaders led by District 3 Supervisor Holly Irwin have been working with Congressman Paul Gosar to request the purchase of 8,000+ acres of property from the BLM with the intent to develop large scale, solar generation facilities. The La Paz County Board of Supervisors’ intent is to create long-term, lease contracts with renewable energy project developers that respond to national demand. Such actions will increase renewable power generation while also helping to create new sources of revenue. This project will help address the economic challenges inherent to a jurisdiction with almost 95% of the County’s property owned by Federal, State or Tribal governments. There are a number of precedent-setting examples of other Western Counties using legislation to seek the conveyance of federal lands to stimulate economic development in rural locations. La Paz County proposes to use a similar process to acquire a parcel of property that would allow for the project to interconnect with the Ten West Link.

Congressman Trent Franks: On Thursday, March 2, the House Budget Committee held a Members' Day hearing to give Members of the House of Representatives an opportunity to give their thoughts and suggestions for the FY2018 Budget.  Franks testified before the Committee in support of a higher defense budget topline and pointed out that during the Obama Administration our adversaries developed and tested new high-speed maneuvering weapons to exploit the gaps and seams in our missile defense architecture. Franks further explained the desperate need to modernize our nuclear deterrence even as Russia, China, and North Korea expand their nuclear weapon arsenals and capabilities. “[I]n order to revitalize our military – to maintain a nuclear deterrent, which is effective, reliable, and credible, and to build a missile defense architecture capable of meeting identified emerging threats – we require a defense budget topline of $640 Billion. The $603 Billion topline, visits a modest 3% increase above Mr. Obama’s projected FY18 defense budget of $584 Billion, and, if we intend solve our readiness crisis, a budget of this size it will force us to underfund key capabilities such as Nuclear Arsenal and Deterrent, Defending National Security Space Assets and Ballistic Missile Defense just to name a few. If we are to Make America Safe Again, a 3% increase will not suffice.”.
