Condolences to the Ron Gosselin family. Ron’s wife, Louise, passed away yesterday morning after a two year battle with cancer. Ron has been active in politics most of his life, first in New Hampshire and later in Sun City West as a GOP precinct committeeman, Tea Party member, issues at the Capitol, and candidate volunteer. He can be reached at email@example.com to let the family know of your concerns.
Send Trump Support post cards today: Sent A Post Card To The White House on March 15 expressing support to President Donald J Trump. As this campaign, started by a Los Angeles Republican Women’s Club, their message gathered steam while its circulation throughout the country. Trump supporters are urged to write one postcard. Write a dozen! Take a picture and post it on social media. On March 15th, mail your messages to: President Donald J. Trump, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500. Flood that box!
LD26 State Committeeman Joe Neglia: Considering the talk of a recall amid the current debt and secrecy situation, it is significant to note that LD26 passed a Censure of Jonathan Lines at their District meeting Tuesday night.
An AZGOP Fundraising Legislative Salute is scheduled on March 31, starting with a 5 pm reception followed with a 6 pm dinner, at Chateau Luxe, 1175 E Lone Cactus Drive in Phoenix – featuring Gov Doug Ducey and AZGOP chairman Jonathan Lines. Tickets range from $200 per individual to $5,000 table sponsorships. http://az.gop/tickets-for-2017-legislative-salute/
Something To Think About: Some farsighted readers cautioned that giving your email to those holding tele-town halls just gives them easy access to you for their future campaign fundraising requests and campaign literature.
Encouraged By Feedback from the recent tele-town hall, AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines plans to conduct a telephone town hall each quarter.
Congressman Trent Franks Tele-Town hall is scheduled at 6:30 pm., Thurs., March 16 with CD8 constituents. RSVP Here
A Gentle Reminder: Each precinct needs to elect a Precinct Captain and provide the Captain’s name and contact information to the Legislative District Chairman. It the precinct doesn’t select a Captain by March 30, the LD Chair will assign captains. A precinct captain should reside within the precinct they represent.
The AFA Team: An AFA member went to the post office on Monday to purchase postcards. The clerk said, "all of a sudden we are selling a lot of postcards. What's going on?" Apparently, post office personnel don't pay attention! Don't forget: mail your postcards tomorrow - or right now since they will be picked up tomorrow now in most mail boxes. Deluge President Trump with you support and good wishes. Write something creative! In case you forgot: President Donald J Trump, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20500
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich after the Arizona Supreme Court unanimously upheld the constitutionality of Proposition 206. The Attorney General's Office defended Prop 206. “As Attorney General, my job is to uphold the rule of law," said Brnovich. "The constitution is designed to protect our rights. It's not a tool to be used to undermine the will of the people." See Arizona Supreme Court's Order, Click Here.
A Couple Weeks Ago, AZGOP Secretary Gabby Mercer was invited to participate in a roundtable interview with CNN’s Van Jones that aired March 8. Mercer says, “One of the things they left out was what the woman next to me said right after she said immigration is a complex issue. Right away she started attacking Republicans. She said (paraphrasing) ; ‘what drives me crazy is that Republicans are such hypocrites, you see I live in a very affluential part of Phoenix and there are not many Latinos. So all my Republicans friends - when something goes wrong with their houses, when something breaks down, guess who they call? They call me so I can send them ‘one of my Mexicans’ to do the work for them!" Yup! That is what she said, "My Mexicans" then she went on to talk about tomatoes. I responded, "Wow, I cannot believe she just said that! My Mexicans? I am offended by that! When did they become "her" Mexicans?” See The Messy Truth interview.
LD13 PC Scott Powelson: Former Congressman John Shadegg was a very interesting speaker at LD13 last night. His insight into the “health care” issue was very enlightening. Lots of questions and answers were thrown and handled with stories and good solid logic as far as I am concerned. I can see how Paul Ryan and many of the Republican congress want to handle this task and I am sorry I cannot agree with their solution as I understand it. I offered a solution which Mr. Shadegg seemed to agree with, calling it brilliant. I only wish it was my idea. A patriot, lawyer and political strategist of long stand, who lives in Florida came up with this and I think it is the solution to a long sticker problem. His idea is to leave ObamaCcare in place, let it fall on its own; if we touch it we will take the blame for all its ills and ultimate failure. “If you like your ObamaCare you can keep it.” Write a separate bill allowing anyone who wants to leave them out, and authority to use the “free market” approach which works so well for everything else we buy. The second half is to allow anyone who does not have a plan the ability to deduct from their taxes the cost of his or her plan just like the employer can do now. This keeps the free market involved and hopefully medical care within reach of working men and women whether they work for an employer who can afford to provide it or not. Obama care is swirling the drain now but if we Republicans touch it, which we have not so far, it will be to our own detriment.
LD23 PC Boe James: On February 26, LD23's Executive Committtee sent to all LD 23 PCs the draft "Quisling" resolution authored by PC Ardith Hildebrant.
On February 27, an LD 23 e-mail titled "More on proposed resolution" said in part "Also please understand that, in accordance with our bylaws, we are obligated to communicate properly submitted resolutions from a PC to the District membership. " (A very similar statement was also used when a PC made a motion to cancel the May 12th endorsing election last year.)
On March 8, the LD23 Executive Committee announced its unanimous decision for “the withdrawal of the proposed resolution from any discussion or action at the March 9 meeting and any further consideration.”
On March 12, an “LD23 Policy Update” was distributed that reads: “District 23 Republican Committee Executive Committee Policy, Review and Approval of PC Resolutions - Effective March 8, 2017. In order to avoid the inclusion of defamatory or unsubstantiated content, all resolutions submitted to the Executive Committee shall be subject to review and approval before any further consideration of the resolution by the District membership.“
Is the LD 23 Executive Committee trying to circumvent or contravene the District's By-Laws with the new policy statement? If the By-Laws are as stated in the February 27th e-mail, it would appear that the new policy is not acceptable since nothing there gives the Executive Board authority to not forward a resolution if they feel it is defamatory or contains unsubstantiated contend. If the By-Laws are as stated in their own e-mail of February 27th the only authority the Executive Committee has to not forward a proposed resolution is if it is not properly submitted. I would argue that the Executive Committee did the right thing by withdrawing the proposed "Quisling" resolution since it was not properly formatted and was one of the worst written resolutions that I have ever seen. The LD 23 Executive Committee did the right thing by withdrawing it, but perhaps for the wrong reason.

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ely: We read in the MCRC Briefs that “State Committeeman Constantin Querard says that Coconino County will host the next AZGOP Ex Comm meeting in the cool pines in the summer”. Does that mean that CQ has taken over the ExCom chairmanship? (Editor’s note: That was merely a passing comment by CQ, but it should put to rest questions regarding the destination of future AZGOP Ex Comm meetings as it indicates they will rotate throughout the state.) So, will there be a detailed agenda posted rather than a general outline like the last one? And better yet, will there be a report of the business accomplished instead of, like the last report, ‘managed to get plenty of important business done as well’ which we are still waiting to hear about? Just wondering! And also notably from the MCRC Briefs, “Grahams-Legacy-Continues-To-Plague-AZGOP; Lines-Under-Fire After former AZGOP chair, Robert Graham, left the Republican Party in financial shambles Jonathan Lines was handed control. In office less than three months, Republican grassroots are reportedly calling for a recall of Lines as AZGOP chair.” If this doesn’t point our incompetency, it’s hard to see what does. Is this what we’ve to look forward to for at least the next couple of years?? While the ExCom and county chairs stayed laid back and let Graham do whatever he liked in face of opposition, is that still going to be the case in the future? Until the ExCom is comprised of the 15 county chairs (who have purview over the thousands of PCs) electing their own chairman and holding the state chair responsible for his duties, if you do what you’ve always done, you’re going to get hat you’ve always got!

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) voted yesterday morning to approve the one-time expansion of the existing Arizona Universal Service Fund (AUSF) to assist in the state matching investment. The new grant will allow Arizona to receive $10 of funding for every dollar the state invests into the initiative. Ultimately, the project could bring hundreds of millions of dollars in services to the state. “Equal access to broadband services is critical to the success of a child’s education in the 21st century,” Supt Diane Douglas said. “This program is an incredible opportunity for underserved children from small schools in rural parts of Arizona to have the same technology opportunities that are afforded to other children in the state.” Last March, Arizona was one of the few states to be awarded the 2016 K-12 Broadband and Digital Learning Policy Academy grant through a partnership between the National Governor’s Association (NGA) Center, EducationSuperHighway (ESH) and the K-12 Broadband and Digital Learning Policy Academy. “I commend my staff for making this opportunity a reality,” Douglas said. “My Public Information Officer, Stefan Swiat, wrote the grant application, while State E-Rate Controller Milan Eaton has signed up many schools.” It is designed to provide nearly every student with access to high-speed Internet. A review estimates that the state match for this program may range from $8-13 million and that internet connectivity projects may span more than two years, benefiting nearly 100,000 Arizona students. The state investment will draw down significant E-rate funds, which, in a majority of school systems, may pay for the entire cost of infrastructure construction. Schools and districts are encouraged to apply through an easy and straightforward process that is also available for the following fiscal year. Those interested in applying can contact ESH Outreach Coordinator Alyssa Cubello at email@example.com or State E-Rate Controller for Schools Milan Eaton at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Sen John McCain/Lindsay Graham: “On Sept. 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorists murdered 3,000 innocent civilians on American soil while under the sanctuary of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. In response to that attack, U.S. and NATO forces deployed to Afghanistan to hunt down those responsible and ensure that Afghanistan would never again be a haven for terrorists. Since then, more than 2,000 Americans and more than 1,000 troops from our NATO allies have given their lives to that mission. But after more than a decade-and-a-half of war, Gen. John W. Nicholson, commander of U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan, told the Senate Armed Services Committee last month that the war in Afghanistan is in a stalemate. President Trump and his administration must treat Afghanistan with the same urgency as the fight against the Islamic State, or this stalemate risks sliding into strategic failure.” –The Washington Post

US Senate candidate Kelli Ward: For years, fake conservatives have promised to fully repeal Obamacare - they even campaigned on this promise. But now when given the opportunity, they refuse to! Not only are they not planning to fully repeal the disastrous bill (even though they promised!) the proposed plan includes expanding the Medicaid program according to the Congressional Budget Office's report, costing the taxpayers millions. Medicaid should be completely turned over to the states, not expanded by the federal government. As a physician, I have seen first hand the negative ramifications of Obamacare. That's why I created the Patient Power Plan, which puts the power back where it belongs, in the hands of the patient. It's time for Republicans to follow through and keep their promise to fully repeal Obamacare. And if they don't, then it's time to replace them! It's time to send a message to the Establishment once and for all - repeal MEANS repeal, you promised it, now deliver. kelliward.com/obamacare
