3-20-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net          Web Master John Strasser

More Than 150 Republican Women Leaders from across the nation gathered at the National Federation of Republican Women's (NFRW) spring board meeting in Memphis on March 17-18, where they pledged support for President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch. The NFRW board unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the U.S. Senate to confirm Gorsuch immediately. Gorsuch, who currently serves on the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, is known as a champion of religious liberty and is considered to be an originalist in his interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to begin hearings on his nomination next week. "Neil Gorsuch is eminently qualified to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court as Justice Antonin Scalia's successor," NFRW President Carrie Almond said. "President Trump is setting a course for a renewed, greater America, and the historic selection of Gorsuch to the Supreme Court will help ensure that our constitutional liberties are protected and preserved for generations to come. Republican women are 100 percent behind this nomination, and we urge the U.S. Senate to confirm Judge Gorsuch without delay." See resolution here www.nfrw.org/board-spring2017. Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is the largest and most influential Republican women's group in the nation, proudly representing the party that first made it possible for women to vote in the U.S. The NFRW works to increase the effectiveness and relevance of women in the cause of good government. Our mission remains to recruit and elect Republican candidates, promote the principles of the Republican Party, educate the public, and inform the media.

While attending a LD meeting last week, a PC commented that she thought $55 was a bit steep for the upcoming Maricopa County Republican Luncheon. She was informed it is a “fundraiser for the party and that she should be glad to help out.” Geez, does anyone remember when the Lincoln Day luncheons were held to recognize and show appreciation to the PCs for all their work the previous year? $110 per couple for many of our retired PCs is a bit beyond their stretch. The MCRC used to go so far as to provide complimentary tickets to deserving PCs who could not afford tickets. Ah, but those were the days of former Maricopa County grassroots chairmen Lyle Tuttle, Tom Husband and Ron Haney… Back before so many of the worker bees were purged from their districts leadership positions.  How things have changed. - ft

Jimmy-Breslin-Iconic-Newspaperman-Dead-At-86 Jimmy Breslin, the no-nonsense Pulitzer Prize-winning New York newspaper columnist whose correspondence with ‘Son of Sam’ serial killer David Berkowitz in the 1970s offered chilling insight into the mind of a murderer, has died at 86.

James Alberts: John McCain is an example of why we need turn limits!

Activist Milvia Stokes: As a young girl, I survived Fascism and Nazism during WWII, followed by Communism, choosing to abandon my beautiful home for refugee camps in Italy and Germany , with a temporary stay in a third country. After a total wait of 10 years, I became a legal American, holding with pride my precious American flag and citizenship. Our new Maricopa County Sheriff Penzone needs to apologize to legal, loyal immigrants for recently calling illegals – “guests.” My sacrifice to come the USA was not for opportunistic reasons, but ideological ones - rejecting dictators. This made me a grateful American, loyal to the core, respectful of our nation’s Founders and Constitution. Sheriff Penzone, we are a nation of Laws, not corruption.

PC Art Olivas Jr: I just received a letter from Old Jonathan! Asking me to help him raise $100,000 to support Soro's reported Water boys John McCain and Jeff flake who are and have been running the AZ. GOP!! I don't know if he is smoking or has his head stuck some place that it is not supposed to be! He states The Republican Party is strong and united! If Robert Graham left the Party dam near broke how strong is Jonathan? He needs to stop drinking John McCain's Kool-aid? Jonathan Line has to take a stand and lead the purging of the Arizona Republicans in name only and all the self serving corrupted career politicians that are a parasite on the people of Arizona.!! A good leader will not hold on to anybody's coat tails to lead! Jonathan, The Only Person Making You Look Bad Is Your Self!! Now this is the way I see it. It's easy to prove me wrong.

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: Below is a copy of an email that was sent to county chairmen.  Notice, and invited a response from all of them.  Whether or not any agreed or not was not an issue, a response was invited.  For the record, the response was lacking.  For all of you who have written and agree with some observations, perhaps now one can see how the leadership in this party works! When the county chairs who have purview over the PCs just don’t want to get involved in the party operations and step up to the plate, what can we do?? “There was talk about recalling Graham.  Now, there are rumblings about recalling Lines.  Then what?  The current situation?  First, Lines was the AZ GOP treasurer under Graham but didn’t know about the party debts until after he took over as chair.  Now what does that say about attention to duty??  Has he followed the autocratic bylaws and appointed a Finance chair and committee?  His first meeting with the ExCom was in the furthest city in SW Arizona, and barely had a quorum, what does that say about consideration?  The newly elected Treasurer and Secretary of AZ GOP being refused access to records.  Is there something to hide?”  Again, if we can’t expect the county chairs to step up to the plate, we can probably expect more of the same!
