3-22-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net      Web Master John Strasser

PC Marsha Hill: Talking with people, esp "Republicans", I ask if they subscribe to the Republican Briefs. Many are excited to do so as I preface it with "You won't need a newspaper, radio news or leftist news". Lately, I've heard rumor that it is biased. "Biased?" I incredulously ask. "Yes, articles posted are biased." I ask if they ever submitted an article the answer, No. I encourage them to write something, and likely it will be published. They don't!!

The Briefs editor, Frosty Taylor, publishes articles sent to her. Rarely, she editorializes. She's a journalist, for heaven’s sake with integrity. Even PHX journalists on the left, give her kudos for posting articles she does not agree.  I have heard that some leaders think only positive, “pleasant” articles about the GOP should to be posted. WHAT? That sounds biased to me!

AZ's GOP needs unity and should be 100% behind our elected non-politician President. Elected Republicans should create party unity, not dissent against our President. An example of division was the LD meeting a week after the election. Opening with a prayer (pleasant) and pledge . . . not ONE word of Trump's win was spoken and no words to God thanking Him for our (Republicans') win. You would have thought there had not been an election won by the Republican Party. If we don't take into account, even in our own sources of information, what is wrong and what is right we will be as blind to the truth as our counterparts in the Democrat Party. Lack of critical thinking has led the GOP the wrong way for years and we have lost many good Americans to the Independent label because of it. Continue reading the unfiltered truths found in “Republican Briefs”.

In the March 17 Briefs, mention was made that George Weisz used to bring green bagels to the Attorney General’s office where we both worked a long ago. Briefs has since learned that Weisz still delivers green bagels almost every St. Paddy's Day to the Governor's Office, Secretary of State's Office, the Senate and House, and a host of other places. He can't give up a fun tradition! No wonder he is such a popular guy. - ft

The AFA Team: Yesterday in the MCRC Briefs, MCRC Chairman Chris Herring made the following comment in response to some who have questioned paying $55 for lunch.   They believe $55 is a lot to pay for lunch.  That means a couple would pay $110. See his response at  3-21-17-briefs We know that many of the PCs in Maricopa Country are seniors and some are on a fixed income.  These are the PCs who work as unpaid volunteers to do the work of the PCs. They don't get paid to do Get out the Vote, door knocking, working at events, etc. but it costs them out of pocket to do it. However, Chairman Herring conflates other counties who had DINNERS with his LUNCH. We all know that LUNCH costs a lot less that DINNER so his statement cannot be taken at face value.  Most of the counties have Lincoln Day Dinners.  Most of them are at very nice venues with good food selections, not just the rubber chicken.  The price of $60, in most cases, has been for dinner, meaning that a nice private evening out to dinner with friends would run close to the same amount.  Not so with lunch at $55.  Said one AFA member: we just had a top quality white-table-cloth lunch for three for a birthday at a great restaurant in Scottsdale complete with dessert for just over $100 + tip, including valet parking. We agree with those who point out that $55 is a lot to expect for those on limited incomes, seniors and others who already donate their money and time to MCRC or other Republican efforts. Lincoln Day observances are a long honored tradition in the Arizona Republican party. Let's don't get carried away by putting these events out of the financial reach of the more active members who do the work and should be recognized for that at these events.

Attorney Larry Klayman: Thanks to yet another runaway hack federal judge, now all of the world's 1.6 billion Muslims have a constitutional right to enter the United States -- unrestricted at any time. That is the shocking but preposterous ruling of Judge Derrick Watson in Hawaii v. Trump, issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO) against President Trump's rewritten executive order temporarily suspending travel from the world's most dangerous terrorist countries, to allow time to devise a strict means to vet potential terrorists... (more) Impeach Obama's hack Hawaiian judge!

While The Trump Administration focuses on securing the southern border, most illegal immigrants enter the United States legally and stay after their visa expires, a new study  reveals. That’s because, incredibly, the U.S. doesn’t have an adequate system to assure the foreigners leave when they’re supposed to. This has been a serious problem for years and in fact some of the 9/11 hijackers overstayed their visa to plan the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. More than a decade and a half later little has changed. Securing the famously porous southern border is essential to national security but so is a reliable system that cracks down on visa overstays.

Judicial Watch has published a series of articles  documenting how Middle Eastern terrorists have joined forces with Mexican drug cartels to infiltrate the U.S. and train in southern border towns near American cities.

In 2011 Another Federal Audit confirmed that the U.S. had lost track of millions who overstayed their visas and two years later the crisis intensified when DHS lost track of 266 dangerous foreigners with expired visas. The government determined that they “could pose a national security or public safety concerns,” according to the director of Homeland Security and Justice at the GAO.
