4-12-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor       Web Master John Strasser

Congrats To Phil Lovas on his new position as the Region IX Advocate for the US Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy with the Trump Team. Lovas will stay in Phoenix and work throughout Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii and Guam. If anyone from the AZ team deserves it, he does. Every time we needed something in Wickenburg he delivered – while some of the others didn’t bother answering phone or e-mails. - ft

LD22 Blue Sky PC Capt Frank Carroll has announced he will be seeking the appointment to fill  LD22 Rep Phil Lovas’ vacancy. Carroll said, “Thanks Phil for serving the best legislative district in Arizona. We wish you much success in this opportunity.” Contact: (602) 363-5821.

LD22 will meet at 5:30 pm., Mon., April 17 for spaghetti and meatballs with Congressman David Schwiekert, prior to the 6:30 pm meeting at the Westbrook Village Association Recreation Center, 18825 N Country Club Parkway ,Peoria, Arizona  85382. $5 donation per plate. Contact Heather Morgan of what you will bring as food items such as salads and desserts.  The money earned defrays the cost of the room fee. The legislative vacancy resulting from the resignation of Rep Phil Lovas requires that LD 22 PCs submit a list of three candidates to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.  The date of the special meeting at which PCs will elect the three candidates to be submitted tba. Potential candidates are asked to notify LD 22 Chairman Rae Chornenky as soon as possible.

As Of Yesterday, four candidates have surface:

· Frank Carroll, LD22 PC

· Miryan Gutier-Elm, a former lobbyist and principal at Gutier Group;

· John Heep, former member at-large rep on the Maricopa County Community College District; and

· Rodney Moffett, a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Former LD22 PCs Wayne & Patricia Blair: Frosty, did not get to know you well except at the LD22 mtgs once in a while. Never thought that you were at the wonderful age you have come to. Always thought you were younger than I which will be 76 this summer. Guess that shows you that fine things improve with age. You are admired by more than you are aware of. Pray that you have many more yrs of health, happiness, & peace.

Russell Sias, La Paz County Chair: I read somewhere, that our government was a government of the people, by the people. One reason why I am a Republican is that I have felt party principles followed this line of thought. Of the people, by the people, I mean. Frankly, I think that I must have heard this phrase long before I arrived in Arizona some 10 years ago. It most certainly had to before I got involved in the current party! I believe in open, honest, and frank discussions. I believe in, of the people, by the people governance. I believe in honoring and respecting our laws. I believe that though honesty, thoughtfulness and consideration of ideas of others, that we can come to the best conclusions. I believe that when open and honest dialogue is hindered, things must change, or the organization is doomed.

Let me ask a few questions: Do you believe a:

· CEO be allowed to place the organization into a $220,000 debt without approval?

· An incoming newly elected treasurer should be prevented from seeing the books?

· Committee members should be prevented from discussing committee issues outside formal meeting?

· Committee member information should be withheld from other members? I want each of you to ask yourselves, why this is being allowed. The answer is actually pretty simple. The problem is within our bylaws.

The solution, while not simple, is still possible. We must get involved. If our LD or county, has not yet chosen a representative for our bylaws committee, we need to select someone that will actually work to resolve these issues. I am a bylaw committee member. Let’s discuss these and other issues. Email me at, and join my growing list of those willing to discuss these (and their own) issues.

The BBQ starts at 3pm and will end at 6pm or when the meat runs out (whichever comes first). 100% of the donations go directly to the charity, for I am donating all of the food and drink.” Contact: 602-334-6519.
