Condolences To Long-Time GOP Activist Eric Johnson. His mom, Sallie, passed away May 1.

Territorial Days Arizona Game and Fish Commissioner John McCarty was added to the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial on May 1, 2017 at the Arizona Peace Officers Ceremony at the Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza in Phoenix. The Game and Fish Honor Guard participated at the service. McCarthy was a commissioner from 1898-1901. In 1901 he met his demise when his 10 gauge shotgun blew-up while he was collecting band-tail pigeons and "tassel-eared" squirrels in the Clint Well area.  Apparently a bear consumed most of his body. The remains were buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Phoenix. Link to the ceremony:

Activist James Alberts: I was at Sky harbor airport the night of May 4 waiting for my wife's flight when RINO John McCain arrived, he was walking through the concourse waving at people like he was some type of celebrity . People just sat there and laughed as he walked by, no one waved back and no one stood up to talk to him. Apparently he forgot we censured him at the county meeting and we still think he should register as a Democrat ! The guy just does not get it !

Navajo County Republican Committee Steven Slaton: This is a follow up from my April 24 e-mail exchange in regards to the AZGOP’s failure to comply with the Party Bylaws audit requirements. Recap - Below are the e-mail comments from County Chairman of Graham County John Rhodes.

Slaton sent a Thurs, April 20 e-mail to GOP County Chairmen - asking for support of potential request by the AZGOP Executive Committee for a forensic audit of the former AZGOP Executive Committee - which has drawn both support and fire from fellow county chairmen.

About a half hour after Slaton’s April 20 memo went out, Russell Sais, La Paz County Chairman, who is also a AZGOP bylaws committee member (which has not yet met.) wrote: “Not only is the delay to turn the treasurer's job over to the new treasurer, but it is a violation of our bylaws (such as they are), AND there are ALSO violations of state laws involved with this monkey business. We really need to get our act together and start playing by the rules!” Sais had distributed a similar plea asking for an audit on March 30, 2017.

This drew fire from Graham County Chairman John Rhodes, who responded at 3:29 PM, April 29 with, “Please remove me from your subversive email list I do not like your Adolf Hitler comments at the end of everything.”

3:57 PM, April 20: Slaton responded telling Rhodes that as a county chairman, it was his responsibility “to stand up and protect the integrity of the Arizona GOP….If you don't like my message at least your response can be respectful of my comment.  You’re talking to another county chairman. We’re supposed to be on the same side. This will be brought up in the ethics committee and you are responsible under ARS-16-1801-16-927. My letter is not Adolf Hitler Comments. Nor will I remove you from my E-Mail list. If you do not want to take your responsibility as a county chairman you should resign!”

4:21 PM, April 20, Rhodes phone message to Slaton reads: “If your ultra-right-wing types spend as much time focusing on defeating the enemy the Democrats and working with the Republican Party and those that were duly elected we would have a much better and stronger party.  I pull my weight and Graham County we get our Republicans elected we have outstanding voter registration and donate to the state party rather than taking money from it. Under my leadership Graham County has been a strong red county I would suggest you do a fact check before you go spouting off. Thank You.”

Slaton responded, “Congratulations for all of your success, we’re very happy for you! This has nothing to do with that! Where asking for an audit. This is not difficult. You should be on board, it’s your responsibility!”

Since this Exchange, I have gotten other County Chairman wanting the state AZGOP to comply with the bylaws. Fellow Chairman Russell Sais of La Paz County wants the AZGOP as well to comply with the State bylaws, along with Pinal County Chairman Michael Burke, Apache County Chairman Tom Samoff. With added support from LD16 Chairman Jerry Clingman, Peter Mains, Gene Klund, Nancy Ordowski and many more.

Furthermore it’s been brought to our attention that the newly elected AZGOP Executive Committee has to sign non-disclosure forms. Now this may be standard operating procedures, however with the AZGOP not disclosing any negative revenue losses, or profits from fundraising this makes one ponder…. what’s going on with the AZGOP not having the audit’s performed as per the bylaws requirement.

We were looking forward to having Chairman Lines visit us in Navajo and Apache County for his voter Registration drive which was set up with Irene Littleton. We were going to take this opportunity to question Chairman Lines on our concerns of the lack of the AZGOP Executive Committee to fulfill their elected duty. However he has cancelled his scheduled appointment with Apache County twice in the last 2 months.

I once again CALL for all of the County Chairman’s, to Stand up and demand the AZGOP Executive Committee to follow the AZGOP Bylaws. We as elected Republican, leaders of our Party have the responsibility to see that the rules are followed and set the example to all of our citizens that the party stands for the rule of law… at all levels. - Steven Slaton

Pastor James Dutton Responding Activist Stephen Sivigliano’s “Now that The Donald has signed the executive order allowing priests, ministers, rabbis, etc. to speak out on "political issues" without fear of losing their tax exempt status, let's see how many of them will speak out on abortion and demand it's total ban.  I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. . . Steven” Apparently you have been attending the wrong church.   There are many pastors, such as myself, who refused the IRS volunteer gag order (called the 501c3 Letter of Determination) and have not only been preaching against abortion but also showing from the Scriptures the government sponsored and protected practices that are abominations to God. Many of the members of our congregation are Precinct Committeemen, State Committeemen, AzCDL members and their Pastor is a former GOP County Chairmen and the current President of the Prescott Chapter of AzRA.  Hopefully this response will help you in the future by giving you some hope and also preventing you from lumping people together in your stereotypical baskets.

Tom Morrissey Past Chairman AZ GOP: Uh oh, here we go again - down the road to that huge cave that our leadership seems to always run toward after the biased media starts their deluge of criticism aimed at whatever positive legislation comes out of our party.  After observing what is flying around the Internet, other social media, radio and TV following the House passing the "Please Lord, Save Us From Obamacare Bill" I can't help but grimace in pain.  The Liberals have their usual tight talking points, woven into their well-focused message, as they scream, "people will die"!  Yes, that is a logical conclusion to the fact that people will die.  But it's not because of the lack of the Nanny State no longer providing Unaffordable Health Insurance, (Healthcare "for those in Rio Linda") it's because people do not live forever. What these boisterous "useful idiots" are missing is the plain fact that the government cannot provide everything to everyone, every time the words "people will die, or it's for the children" are flooded across the country, by said media.  So I suggest we help these poor lost souls with this simple analogy - picture an armada at sea during a powerful storm and all of the ships in this armada, but one, sink.  So all of the people on the sunken ships swim to the one remaining afloat and proceed to board it.  What will happen?  Answer - that ship will also sink, from overload. Lesson here is - whenever something is pushed beyond its level of ability, it will eventually fail.  That's what happened to the Soviet Union, is what is happening today in Venezuela, what happened to the VA, Post Office and...Obamacare.

AZGOP Executive Director Matt Kenney: Ineffective Phoenix Congressman Ruben Gallego consistently puts personal ambition and partisan politics over serving Arizonans, and now he's taking his show on the road to Tucson. "Southern Arizonans will see right through Congressman Gallego's cynical partisan stunt," Kenney said. "Why is he in Tucson advocating for legislation that has FAILED Arizonans, when he should be representing his own district in Phoenix? He's been a weak and ineffective voice for his constituents. While Arizona's 7th Congressional District faces an unemployment rate that is well above the national average, Representative Gallego has not sponsored one piece of legislation that has created jobs or opportunities for constituents in his district. In fact, since his election in 2014, he's sponsored exactly one bill that has become law: renaming a post office in Phoenix. It's an embarrassingly ineffective record. While he's in McSally's district, Ruben can learn a thing or two about effective representation. Martha McSally voted FOR the VA Accountability Act and has been a champion for southern Arizona's veterans, for the A-10, and for our security. She's widely seen as one of the most effective members of Congress from either party. I hope Martha McSally's constituents -- many of whom are active military or veterans -- remind him of his terrible voting record on veteran issues while he's grandstanding in Arizona's 2nd congressional district.   As a veteran myself, it's hard to believe a Congressman -- and fellow veteran -- has refused to meet with certain veteran groups to discuss VA reform, and was one of the only Arizona representatives to oppose the VA Accountability bill that Senator McCain and others championed last year. Get back to your district, Ruben. Southern Arizonans don't need a weak politician to tell them how to vote."

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after the National Park Service (NPS) released an Initial Bison Herd Reduction Environmental Assessment (EA) and announced commencement of a 30-day public comment period on a new plan to address the invasive “beefalo” population within Grand Canyon National Park (the Park): “The Park Service has been twiddling their thumbs for more than three years trying to develop a plan to address the ‘beefalo’ population in the Park. Today’s proposal was supposed to be published last summer. Unfortunately, the NPS has continuously pushed out half-cocked and costly management suggestions a day late and more than a few dollars short, failing to reduce the herd to sustainable levels and protect the Park from utter devastation,” stated Gosar. “After years of badgering, the NPS has finally warmed up to our proposal to put Arizona hunters to work and allow these skilled volunteers to keep the meat. While this is encouraging, the plan announced today is far from perfect. Legislation is still likely necessary as this proposal fails to provide a long-term management plan, creates a new 1:1 sex ratio goal to encourage future breeding, provides too much flexibility for the NPS to scrap lethal culling, and fails to allow skilled volunteers to keep the entire bison.” The text of the 201 page EA published today by the NPS can be found HERE

Senator John McCain: “While the President has the legal authority to remove the Director of the FBI, I am disappointed in the President's decision to remove James Comey from office. James Comey is a man of honor and integrity, and he has led the FBI well in extraordinary circumstances. I have long called for a special congressional committee to investigate Russia's interference in the 2016 election. The president's decision to remove the FBI Director only confirms the need and the urgency of such a committee.”

Senator John McCain on the U.S. Court of Appeals’ ruling today regarding Sharon Helman: “I am deeply disappointed in the U.S. Court of Appeals’ ruling today and disagree with the court’s opinion that a key accountability measure in the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act is unconstitutional. I am working with my colleagues in Congress to soon introduce new bipartisan legislation that will strengthen accountability measures of the Choice Act and expand authority the VA Secretary needs to remove bad actors within the VA. It’s past time we prioritize the health and wellbeing of our veterans over the job security of a federal bureaucrat.”
