Republican Briefs

Statement from the President: "I applaud the Senate for taking a giant step to end the Obamacare nightmare. As this vote shows, inaction is not an option, and now the legislative process can move forward as intended to produce a bill that lowers costs and increases options for all Americans. The Senate must now pass a bill and get it to my desk so we can finally end the Obamacare disaster once and for all."

Correction: Yesterday Briefs 7-26-17-briefs carried a post attempting to provide readers with both sides of the story regarding reports circulating of alleged absence of Chairman Jonathan Lines and Executive Director Matt Kenney from the AZGOP Headquarters office for a couple of weeks following the June 17 Executive Committee meeting. The post errantly says that Briefs sent a note to Lines/Kenney on Monday evening (7-24-17) and received a response from Communications Director Torunn Sinclair on Tuesday(7-25-17). Briefs four questions were dispatched to Lines/Kenney at 11:58 AM (not PM) Monday 7-24-17 and Sinclair responded at 2:54 pm the same day. Briefs apologies for the time/date mix up. – ft

LaPaz County Chairman Russell Sias To AZGOP Bylaws Chair Kathy Petsas: Sorry...I have not seen ANY of your rules that you feel I must agree to, to be part of this committee.  Nor did your message this time come with these rules attached, either. I find it really strange that you feel you have some right to limit or restrict bylaws committee member's behavior in this manner; that they must submit to your rules -- before you make the decision to let them participate, EVEN THOUGH they have been appointed or elected, and as such are designated members of the committee via their local counties or LD's, no less! I assume justification for your action must be in our bylaws or in Robert's Rules somewhere, though, right?  Are you willing to tell me where I might find such a permission granted you to require such constraints to be placed on committee members?  Perhaps I need a refresher on Roberts or our bylaws. Still, not having seen your "participation" rules, when do you intend to forward them to me, so that I may watch for them?  Just asking....

On Wed, Jul 26, 2017 at 3:17 PM, Kathryn Petsas e-mailed Sias: Access to the site will be  provided when you agree to the protocols sent to you by email on June 30 and again on July 11.  You needed to reply by email as everyone else did.  I will forward you the email again.

The AZGOP ByLaws Committee will meet July 29 to discuss proposed changes to Articles I, 11, and III LD20 PCs. Contact: Bylaw Chairman Kathie Petsas

Tom Morrissey, AZGOP Past Chairman: The audit I referred to   7-26-17 Briefs is a “forensic audit” which is far more reaching than a general audit. A forensic audit will lay bare everything that went on in the AZ GOP - making it almost impossible to manipulate the records.  This is the one thing that will absolutely put to rest any and all questions that are causing so much suspicion, turmoil and anger within our state party. This has gone on far too long and is destroying trust in our state party.

Steven Slaton, Chairman Navajo County Republican Committee to Bruce Ash, Arizona’s Republican National Committeeman: We received your letter 7-23-17 Briefs in regards to Chairman Lines. Nice try, but no sale. However let me explain to you unless he performs his duties as Chairman I cannot support Chairman Lines for the following reasons.

  • His refusal to provide the duly elected Secretary, Gabby Mercer, access to the permanent records as required.
  • His refusal to provide the duly elected Treasurer, Bob Lettieri, access to the financial books and records, as required.
  • His refusal to open the books of the previous AZGOP Executive Committee to Treasurer Lettieri, as required.
  • Lying to members of the AZGOP members, PC’s and Executive Committee members about hiring Matt Kenney.
  • The failure to properly delegate Roberts Rules or Order in the Executive Committee Meeting in Flagstaff. Appointing a parliamentarian to run the meeting and others, without authority which is a breach of the bylaws. The 1st vice chairman was present at the meeting, but was not engaged … she was the only one who had the authority to run the meeting.
  • Rulings on motions were declared “out of order” in Flagstaff Ex. Comm. Meeting under “Other Business” which is where motions are made according to Roberts Rules of Order in reference to other party business…. Again, the Parliamentarian had no authority to do so.
  • Chairman Lines was in breach of the By-laws by appointing a Parliamentarian, instead of following the bylaws regular procedures which require the 1st Vice Chair, or second vice chair to take over his duties.
  • Matthew Kenney misrepresenting both the date and the content of a conversation with Mercer about her attempt to gain access to specific permanent records and contact information of the state committeemen at the Flagstaff meeting.
  • Failure to provide an operating budget to be approved by the State Executive Committee required at the Flagstaff meeting…
  • Chairmen Lines failure to keep his word when he said he would not hire Matt Kenney, but did so.
  • The recently elected AZGOP State Chairman Jonathan Lines, and his appointed AZGOP executive Director, Matt Kenney, are in serious breach of these AZGOP bylaws and AZ. State statutes. (2005 Arizona revised Statutes – Revised Statutes 16-823 Legislative district Committee Referencing Organization: 38-431, 38-431.03, 16-807, 16-827, 16-906, 16-907)
  • The Arizona Attorney General’s office has been contacted to review the above breaches of the AZGOP Chairman and further documentation sent to the AG’s office by PC’s, State Committeemen, County Chairman and LD Chairman in Arizona.
  • The call has been sent out to recall Chairman Lines.

Your statement “that PC’S are being given the autonomy and power not previously seen in years” is baloney. If that were the case, then the PC’s and State Committeemen would not be shut down at these Executive Committee meetings. Until, Chairman Lines fulfills his duties as Chairman, he will not get support from us. Contact Slaton at 602-300-5376.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: "We have to get to the bottom of this, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz has obstructed at every level on something that affects potentially our national security. So to have this gentlemen try and leave the country yesterday, and now we know there is bank fraud and we know he destroyed these hard drives, when you read story about the Marine that found them in the apartment he was trying to rent. I mean, it is a long story but something we have to get to the bottom of. We are not hearing the Democrats talk about it at all. Where's Debbie Wasserman Schultz? And we also need to know why the DNC never turned over their hard drive to the FBI to review it as to their hacking situation. So the Democrats are on TV and they're grandstanding every chance they get, but they're not complying and they're not being forthright with their role." Jeb Bush Just Said The UNTHINKABLE About Trump, Now Everyone Is Pi$$ed! Jeb Bush is back at it again. Jeb had probably one of the most disappointing campaigns of any candidate, Democrat or Republican. And instead of turning his support to the party he has decided to criticize...
