7-30-17 Briefs

Former LD13 Chairman Robert Branch: How many Cowardly Senators hid behind McCain's vote knowing the bill had no chance of passing? You know that Flake and Graham would never have voted for that bill if they thought it would pass, who else?

LD20 Chairman Colleen Lombard has announced their meetings scheduled through the end of the year. Meetings dates are Aug. 14, Sept 11, October 9, November 13, December 11. Meetings are open to Registered Republicans only. Non-LD 20 PCs will need to bring their Voter Registration card for presentation in order to gain admittance. Guests who would like to speak at an LD 20 Meeting must contact the Chairman at least 2 weeks in advance of any meeting. Contact: Lombard

LD29 PC Mike Meacham: Based on Sen John McCain's speech the other night, there is no denying that his intention was to stick it to Republicans, but yesterday, Louie Gomert was on Rush Limbaugh with Mark Steyn, and said that the "skinny" bill was so bad that the Senate leadership told the House leadership that they would only pass it (to get to conference) if the House promised to shoot it down. They removed the individual mandates but kept the requirement that anyone who did get insurance had to have the complete package, (including maternity care for men), which meant that the cost, with fewer takers, would sky rocket. Getting to conference with something so bad is placing far too much faith in Paul Ryan and not worth the risk. If may be that McCain's evil deed had unintended consequences that actually benefited the Republicans. We need total repeal first, and do not forget that Gov Doug Ducey shares as much guilt here as McCain.

PC Art Olivas, Jr: I was asked last week about Congressman Paul Gosar! My answer was, I like others, don't know about him. Well, I had two very good conservative Republicans come to his defense. And as always Frosty gave first hand info on her Briefs-  “to see what he’s been doing for Arizona go to official web site at Click on his press release or newsletter section to get updated on his activities.”

I ask, why is he not in the forefront in the news - like the Democrat Ruben Gallegos’ fighting, stomping and raising cane on TV on behalf of illegals who are beating the hell out of us with their free gimmes from taxpayers. One Democrat beating the hell out of all the Republican congressmen that have been in office over 10 yrs. This is Ruben Gallegos first term! Can you imagine what he will be able to do to us while our Republican congress is dormant or partying - as Schweikert and the rest of them are leading me to believe!! I think we are on the road to becoming Mexico with Ruben Gallegos leading the way as I don't see any Republicans stopping him! As a matter of fact our silence and lack of leadership may get us killed as illegals get more rights than us for now. We have been going down this path for over 10 yrs. Our self-serving politicians got us there. We keep voting for them and I can assure you they will deliver us to where the Gallegos and Democrats want us. If you are Republican and thinking of running for office in South Phoenix - forget it. I ran for City Council twice and got ZERO help from any Republican. NONE at all. Not from the GOP or any one from my own LD!  In my eyes the John McCain and his RINOs are in the Democrats and Soros dark money pocket!! I say what I think will wake you up or they will put us to sleep forever!!

PC Clair Van Steenwyk:   The time has come to face the facts that the GOP in DC aren’t the same GOP candidates campaigning at home. They have finally shown the entire nation their true color - which is purple. They fit the mold of swamp managers.  AZ’s Sen. McCain has always been for big government. His joining RINO Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, (the chosen three to stop the Repeal of Obamacare) gave political cover to all the other GOP senators who couldn’t afford to vote against it with the 2018 primary election season. Those two who are in safe states and McCain (who’ll never run again) became the scape goats for the other GOP senators. I hope this political theater doesn’t escape all those who’ve supported many of these Senators in the past like Sen. Flake, Hatch, McConnell - just because they say they’re Republicans. In states having primaries to re-elect GOP candidates (many of whom are RINO’s) will find qualified, dedicated, honest supporters of the US Constitution to run against all of these incumbents in the 2018 Primary, or you may as well kiss a final good bye to the small amount of the Republic we have left. DC has now sunk to a new low of nothing more than a septic tank in dire need of a DRAINING. We must read the US Constitution and realize that Education, Healthcare, Housing, Commerce, Interior and all the other departments, except for Defense, Treasury, State and Attorney General are States Rights and the Federal Government must remain out to those areas. The States must exercise those rights and stop taking Federal Welfare Funds which is enslaving all of US. We can be thankful Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus are out of the White House. Hopefully, their replacements will be loyal to the President & the US citizens; not the GOP Elite RINO’s in DC and elsewhere. gop-wins-vote-skinny-repeal

Navajo County Chairman Steven Slaton; I completely agree with 1st Vice Chairman of La Paz County Jade Jones’ 7-29-17 Briefs I am disturbed as well that someone allegedly turned over the state committeemen list to State Senator Sylvia Allen and Bruce Ash! It sure is interesting Chairman Lines CANNOT SEEM TO get these records to Gabby Mercer but others have access to them.

Navajo County Chairman Steven Slaton E-mail Exchange With Sen. Sylvia Allen:

     · Slaton-This is not a Letter war! It’s just so happens you sent out your e-mail letter, the day before mine was ready to send out. As to your questions: Allen-I would just ask you to consider the consequences of a recall.  Let’s say it happens.  How long do you think that it will take to get the signatures and then the date for the election?  Say three months, four?

     · Slaton- Signatures and date is set, money is being raised for it. Allen -Then what if Lines is re-elected? Then will you support him?

     · Slaton- To be honest with you I do not know if I can support him! Allen -If not who can unite us?

     · Slaton- Tim Horn! Allen -Will the Lines supporters refuse to work with the new leaders?

     · Slaton- I believe they will. Tim is a very honest and committed conservative who is not going to have John McCainites and oligarchy running the party! Allen -What about the people who donate the huge dollars amounts watching this all take place and refusing to donate due to lack of confidence in the Party?

     · Slaton- Huge Donors (just a few) are running the party! Confidence being placed back into the hands of PC’S has been proven to be effective. By the way, the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE will not release the names of these Donors! Do you know who they are? Allen -So now we are somewhere in January/February and still not organized still not united, still fighting.  I have thought the consequences of a recall that is why I sent my letter.

     · Slaton- I appreciate your concern. We’ll be ready here in Navajo County. After speaking with many other chairmen’s, I’m quite confident they’ll be ready as well. Chairman Lines brought this on the Party by lying. Sorry I’ll say misrepresenting the TRUTH! Allen- I say again we have serious problems and if we lose in 2018 the problems will be much bigger than the ones you feel you are fighting.

     · Slaton- We have huge problems NOW! With a dishonest party leadership! I can’t tell you how many people come through our TRUMPED STORE and express how fed up they are with the RINO’S, the McCainites and the do nothing Republicans! Support for President Trump is huge. If we do not clean this mess up we’re no better than Democrats! Allen - I could go through your letter line by line countering your points, remember I was at that meeting also.

     ·  Slaton- Yes you were at the meeting, and to be very honest Sylvia, I was quite surprise that you did not support my motion for Chairman Lines to turn over records to Gabby along with the problems Bob was having! If you don’t want to follow the bylaws, state statues then why do you want to be a state senator? Allen- But, sadly I don’t believe you want to find any possible middle ground or way to resolve this peacefully.

     · Slaton- Common ground is Chairman Lines stepping up doing what the bylaws and statues require him to do! Really, Linda White has the records? This is Chairman Lines excuse “The Dog Ate the Home Work”! Come ON SYLVIA. Allen- We have lost civility in our country and party.  Calling someone a liar is wrong.

     · Slaton- I call like I see it Sylvia! Will you feel better as I have using Misrepresenting the TRUTH much Better? The AZGOP Leadership has not only misrepresented the TRUTH to me and our Committee, they have been Misrepresenting the TRUTH to many, many other county chair’s and LD Chairs. I’ve talked too many of them. Allen- Refusing to believe them when they tell you their side only shows that we are doomed to fail.

     · Slaton- Sylvia their side is not the TRUTH! TRUST BUT VERIFY!!! There’s plenty of Documentation, personal conservation, and failure following bylaws and Statues! That’s why I don’t believe them! Allen- Something is going to have to change and if you think it is a re-call you will be sadly mistaken.

     · Slaton- Why would we be sadly mistaken for holding our elected representatives accountable for their actions and inactions?

AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines to AZGOP Executive Committee Members: Over the last few weeks, you may have seen some dishonest allegations against me and my staff. You may have even been approached about signing various petitions or “calls.” Obviously, our members are free to sign, or not sign, any public document that they wish. But I hope everyone will consider the facts before entering the party into a costly attempt to change leadership in the middle of a crucial election cycle.

The most serious concern revolves around the $235,000 debt that I inherited when I was elected chairman in January. I can’t imagine that anyone receiving this believes that we should NOT be fighting against the practice of ballot harvesting. I do understand that some wonder why, as the treasurer in 2015-16, was I not aware of this debt? As all of my predecessors can attest, the treasurer is ONLY aware of those invoices and expenses that are approved by the chairman. In this case, Chairman Graham chose not to share these legal bills with me. I can’t speak to why that was, only that I had no knowledge of these invoices until I assumed the role as party chairman. I am thrilled to report that, in just six months, we are on the verge of retiring all inherited debt. I will keep you updated and look forward to letting you know when the debt is officially retired.

On our telephone town hall last week, it was implied that the party is preventing our Secretary from doing her job. This is false. First off, it is the responsibility of the past Secretary to hand over all permanent records to the current Secretary. In order to be helpful, I’ve reached out to our former Secretary multiple times through email, phone and even sent a letter by certified mail with a prepaid envelope addressed to Gabby Mercer to facilitate the transfer of records. Second, my staff reached out to Secretary Mercer and asked if she needed any information or files. She declined, and I would be happy to share this e-mail with anyone who wishes to see it. Let me say publicly what my staff and I have told Secretary Mercer: The Secretary is welcome to come to the AZ GOP headquarters at any time. She is welcome to whatever permanent records that she desires, to be handed over by her predecessor. And she is welcome to inspect any documents related to doing her job that she wishes.

We are running the most transparent and open state party operation in years. Our treasurer, Bob Lettieri, has access to far more records than I had as treasurer, far beyond what is required in the bylaws. I provided those to him, because I want him to be able to effectively do his job, and to ensure party solvency in 2018 and beyond. And Bob is doing a tremendous job; we may have run on opposing slates in January, but I’m proud to call him a colleague and friend.

It’s time we unite as a party and place 100% of our energy behind electing Republicans and defeating Democrats. Make no mistake about it, the Democrats are hard at work preparing for the midterms elections and have high expectations. We cannot let our guard down for one minute, if we do, we will spend 2018 asking ourselves “what if!”

Fellow Republicans, the election is over. And just as the Democrats and Fake News media refuse to acknowledge Donald Trump as the lawfully elected President of the United States, some in our party refuse to accept the outcome of our chairman’s race. It was a close race, it was spirited, but it’s over. It’s long past time to bury the hatchet, and place 100% of our energy behind electing Republicans and defeating Democrats.

Now for some real news: We have shattered fundraising records for a new chairman in the first six months. We have empowered more PCs than ever before, providing unprecedented levels of data access, training and technology. We are putting Democrats on the defensive, exposing their hypocrisy and calling them out for their failed, left-wing policies. And we are working overtime to support the agenda of our President, Donald Trump. From repealing ObamaCare to protecting our citizens, the Arizona GOP has been an unflinching supporter of the President; when I visited with him in Washington, DC, he made it a point to thank me, and by extension, all of you, for the steadfast support for his agenda. In his words, we’re doing “one heck of a job,’ although he didn’t really say “heck!”

Please take advantage of our trainings, voter data base access and encourage your fellow PCs and fellow leaders to do the same. Register voters, sign up for our newsletter, submit articles and meeting dates and let’s get back to the business of electing Republicans. As always, it is an honor to serve as your chairman. I am hopeful that you will reject the forces within our party who are creating a massive distraction, and instead focus on leading, organizing, and winning in 2018. Together, nothing can stop us.

Editor’s Note: Due to various allegations against Lines over the past few months and the Recall Lines movement that is currently underway, Briefs opted to run Lines entire letter to the Executive Committee. Complaints that surfaced several days after the June 17 Executive Committee meeting in Flagstaff can be viewed starting with the 6-20-17 Briefs archives
