Republican Briefs

Top Trump Donor Ponies Up To Take Out Flake Robert Mercer is donating $300,000 to a super PAC backing Kelli Ward, who is running against senator Jeff Flake in a primary next year…

Reports surfaced several days ago that Sen John McCain has chosen his long-time protégé and former Arizona Attorney Grant Woods as his replacement if McCain’s health prevents him from going back to the senate. When Briefs asked Woods yesterday if the reports were true, Woods replied, “I'm planning on John serving out his term and being there for a long time. The country needs him.”  - ft

LD20 State Committeeman Marcus Kelley answers Karen Thomas: On July 8, you asked who owns Sonoran AllianceShane Wikfors does.  He's been State Director for Arizona Right to Life, the Communications Director for the Arizona Republican Party under Tom Morrissey, a political consultant owning Red Mountain Consulting, a guest on the Arizona Sunday morning political talk shows, and my good friend since we both went to the University of Arizona in the early to mid-`90's.  Shane worked for J.D. Hayworth in his 2010 attempt to unseat McCain in the U.S. Senate.  That's not to say my friend has a flawlessly conservative track record.  He's made some curious statements regarding immigration and he worked for crypto-liberal carpetbagger Christine Jones in the 2016 CD 5 race.  He currently works for Steve Watson, the Superintendent of the Maricopa County Education Service Agency.  Shane's policy has always been to let both factions of the party post on his blog:  even when he worked for J.D., he let McCainiacs post.  Of late, he's been rather absentee with respect to SA because he's a county employee and he doesn't need to cause trouble.  I've let him know several times that his blog has turned into a platform for establishment hypocrisy and he insists that it's still his policy that he'll let anyone post.  So, I encourage ALL of you to approach Shane to get your message out to counteract the dissembling liberal "Republicans" most often posting on SA these days...or track me down because I'll help you.  Finally, please, don't attack the blog owner, attack the individual writers because they're responsible for their own words.  As a former writer for the blog, it saddens me deeply that the forces of liberalism in our Party have taken over what was once the strongest bastion of Arizona conservatism on the web.

Russell Sias, La Paz County Chairman: I am thoroughly disgusted with the cheap shots I heard yesterday about Marianne Ferrari. NONE of them, regardless of their validity, have ANYTHING to do with the intentional ignoring of our bylaws by Chairman Jonathan Lines and wrecking crew! Not a single solitary thing. Marianne may be, or may not be, any of the things of which she has been accused. BUT, I don’t care, and neither should any of the rest of us care. These allegations are totally and completely beside the point. They are silly and misguided accusations and nothing more than an effort to misdirect our PC’s, our state committeemen/women in regard to the real issues concerning the clear and obvious corruption within our party. Attempting to discredit in this manner is a typical trick utilized by those that have nefarious intentions. Far, far, better to look at the underlying intentions of those tossing out this nonsense blather than to be sidetracked by these sorts of vicious, stupid, and beside-the-point, allegations. Keep focused on the issues at hand!

LD21 PC Randy Miller responds to "Hos" Hoskins comments 8-6-17 Briefs to me on school taxes: “Thank you for the information.  I wasn't the only one that wasn't sure how all that came about.  This was helpful.”

LD22 State Committeeman Lori Hacks: During a press briefing last week, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to rule out the possibility that the president would help finance an anti-Flake primary effort.  “Sen. Flake would serve his constituents much better if he was less focused on writing a book and attacking the president" and more involved in "passing legislation,” she said."  See jeff-flake-vs -kelli-ward..

Russell Sias, La Paz County Chairman. I have been asked, several times, what my issues are with Chairman Lines. Let me try explain some of my concerns:

· First, where did Chairman Lines come up with a quarter million dollars to pay off Graham’s debt? Shouldn’t we know? Suppose, just suppose, that this huge chunk of money came from a very few donors. Why would they donate such large sums? Of course, the next question should be, what “favors” do they expect in return? I know of few people that would donate this kind of money, and EVERY ONE of them have some sort of gimmie attached. We need to know what strings are attached.

     · Second, why is Chairman Lines raising this money? According to our bylaws, we are supposed to have a finance chairman. Appointed by Chairman Lines, no less. Why is Chairman Lines doing this very important job?

     · Third, why has the bylaws committee intentionally withheld contact information within the committee itself? Being on the committee, I have repeatedly been refused access to other committee members? What’s with that? Having been on many political committees over the years, this is a first for me! Why?

     ·  Fourth, there is the issue of Chairman Lines appointing Kathie Petsas to chair this committee. Most committees have the opportunity to choose their own chairman, it usually is first on the order of business. Our bylaws give the state chairman appointive power for committee chairs to the state chairman, but not in the case of the bylaws committee. So, why did Chairman Lines appoint Petsas? As I read the bylaws, the committee themselves should be choosing their chairman.

     · Then, there is the delay in relinquishing the records to the new secretary and treasurer. This is so in violation of the bylaws!

In short, I smell a rat. I have gotten no answers to my questions, so Chairman Lines has violated the trust I placed in him to run our party. I now must strive to see he gets replaced, so we can get the answers to these and other questions that we should all be asking.

Mitch-McConnell-Denounces-Support-For President-Trump-‘He’s-Inexperienced’ …Mitch McConnell has not been one fighting for the American people for a very long time. This has been obvious given his extreme hate for President Trump. There needs to be more done to get this guy out of his current position considering his past behavior. He has failed at passing a repeal of Obamacare and that is simply not okay with President Donald Trump. The worst part? The fact that he has started blaming in on Trump himself. That is simply not okay. But now he has come out basically calling Trump a bad president. McConnell has come out and proven himself to be a total liar and fraud. Conservatives will not be okay with this going into the future. This man has no business being a Republican. “Now our new president has of course not been in this line of work before. And I think had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process,” McConnell said.“And so, part of the reason I think people feel like we’re underperforming is because too many artificial deadlines unrelated to the reality and the complexity of legislature may not have been fully understood.”… Editor’s Note: McConnell bumbling has been tolerated long enough. It’s time to replacement him. ft

RNC Chair To Flake: GOP Candidates Who Didn't Support Trump Lost

Chairwoman McDaniel: President Trump is Delivering on His Promises: I'm traveling the country and I'm seeing what people are saying and they support President Trump and you look at the RNC fundraising even. In small dollar contributions, we had 250,000 new small dollar donors between January and March. They're not just supporting the president, they're rallying behind him. So I think he has tremendous support among his base and I think it's a tough time right now when you have I think the media's been very unfair to the president. You have democrats obstructing him at every level, he has every obstacle in front of him and he's still going out and fighting for the American people. A million new jobs, unemployment numbers at a record low, consumer confidence at a 16-year high, I mean this is a president who is delivering on the things he promised to the American people.
