Dr. Bob Branch, Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for Maricopa County (district 4) says he will vote “No” on the proposed park fee increases. Branch said that the Parks Department has not made a compelling argument to the Commission Board that these proposed fee increases are warranted. At the September Parks meeting, Branch asked specific questions to the Parks Department regarding the continued effectiveness of the Parks Department to deliver an outstanding experience to the public if the fees were not increased.  The Parks Department said there would be no impact. Branch is but one vote on the board, so let your voice be heard at 9a m., Tues., Nov 14 at the Cave Creek Regional Park

Andy BiggsLast night, the Justice Department announced its intention to evaluate the appointment of a special counsel to investigate matters surrounding Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation, responding to two requests from the House Judiciary Committee. Congressman Andy Biggs, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, responded to the breaking news:"We have been waiting for a response from the Justice Department since our first letter on July 27. Tonight, we received a response that is encouraging but far from the decisive action we requested. We must have an unbiased, independent special counsel to investigate the matters we have raised. We have spent long enough on meaningless evaluations and empty promises."

Don Shooter LD13 SenDems Are Having A Hey-Day with the headlines LD13 Rep Don Shooter has made the past few days. With accusations of sexual harassment exploding all across the nation, one can’t help but wonder which ones are true and which ones are political hit jobs. There was a time in this country when the accused were considered innocent until proven guilty…but in today’s world opponents (even those within your own party) are most anxious to hang the accused before investigations even get started. Has everyone forgotten the escapades of former Dem Presidents John F Kennedy and Bill Clinton???- ft

Dems Leslie McClendon and Karen Watts have been elected to the Yuma City Council – replacing Republicans who held the positions.

Steve Smith CD1 candidate 2017GOP 1st Congressional District Candidate Steve Smith has been awarded the 2017 Golden Apple Award by Arizona Parents for Education. AZ Parents for Education is a statewide group of parents committed to ensuring Arizona children have the tools they need to be successful. The Golden Apple Award is given in recognition of a legislator’s strong and continued support for public education. “I am very grateful to Arizona Parents for Education for this award and for the hard work they do at the State Capitol working to constantly improve our public education system. It has been great working with them and I will continue to make public education a priority." said Smith.

Yesterday afternoon, Tempe Republican Club chairman Jessica Merrow reports that all of the Supt of Public Education candidates were to be in attendance at their forum last night.

LD23 PC Gina Swoboda: Keurig wants to play politics and pull ads from @SeanHannity over fake news. Call their customer care at 866-901-2739 and let them know if they want to pull their ads from Hannity, we’ll #BoycottKeurig just like we boycotted the NFL.

Fountain Hills PC Nancy Plencner: Frosty, am enjoying reading the Republican Briefs daily and sincerely appreciate all your hard work to compile such interesting pieces.  Although I have been around politics for many years both in my professional and personal life, I've been retired for a period of time now.  It would be helpful to me and perhaps to other newer readers if in some of your writings when there is a reference to LD#16 or other LD's, could you add where those are located?  Perhaps adding a location of say Tempe, Fountain Hills, NW Phoenix to the LD District would help as well.  It would help myself and others to become re-educated on where these specific LD's are located.  Also I would love to read a background piece about what created the Lines issue?  Why is there so much dissatisfaction with him and what were the issues?

Marianne Ferrari, LD20 PC and State Committeeman: No one should be surprised by the many reports of conservatives, duly elected as replacement state committeemen, apparently being ignored by the state leadership, thus, effectively blocked from taking their rightful positions on the State Committee. I’ve heard there were some reports of this kind of thing back when John Kyl was senator. But, under John McCain, it certainly looks like a systematic pattern of purging conservatives from any position that would allow them to influence party decisions or actions. There is a name for this: Disenfranchisement. In the AZGOP, we’re now seeing an increasingly curious uniformity in the political identification of those in positions of power: We’ve reached the point, now, where the controlling power seems clearly to rest with Republicans-in-Name-Only (RINOs). How much more obvious does this situation have to become, before someone utters the heretofore unutterable speculation--“Our party is no longer in the hands of people with republican convictions, but of people who are NOT REPUBLICANS?” And what is the next obvious conclusion that a patriotic Republican should come to? I think it would be that, clearly, something is systemically wrong, when the people for whom this party was established--i.e., people who believe in republican principles, i.e., Republicans--are being systematically prevented from rising to positions in the leadership, and also being purged from positions they have long held. It’s time for the main body of principled state committeemen and precinct committeemen to get to the bottom of three very serious questions: 1) Has our AZGOP been hijacked by RINOs who are now purging all conservatives from every possible position of authority or influence? 2) Is this a deliberate effort to destroy the party from within? (Sure looks like it with Independents getting well over 50% of new registrations, and Republicans now barely ahead of Dems, according to a recent report on new registrations by Secretary of State Reagan.) 3) An attempt by whom? (The term "globalist" comes to mind.)  To put a point on this, I will quote a recent conversation I had with a former tea-partier in Kentucky. I phoned him to ask this question: “Is Mitch McConnell to Kentucky what John McCain is to Arizona?” His answer: “Well, by way of answering, let me just say that you are now speaking to the last, and ONLY, conservative State Committeeman in the state of Kentucky.”
