CALL TO ACTION: Activist Archie Dicksion is calling for supporters of legislation to limit the carriage of proxies to two per political meeting - to be in attendance at 9:30 am., Thurs. The Bill proposes an amendment to Arizona Revised Statute 16-828 to limit the carriage of proxies to only 2. If you do not know how to use the Request to Speak feature, the names, email address and telephone number of all of the republican members of the government committee are listed below:

Americans for Prosperity’s Tom Jenney is calling for taxpayers to support
Rep Vince Leach’s House Bill 2099 requiring the legislature to send out a news release warning taxpayers if it votes to increase state government spending faster than the projected rate of growth of population plus inflation. The House Appropriations Committee will hear HS 2099 at 2 pm., Wed., Jan 31. Jenney said, “Truth in Spending will serve as a ‘speed bump’ for future legislators, letting them know when spending growth outpaces the ability of the state economy to pay for that spending. If Arizona had stuck to a spending guideline based on population plus inflation since 2003, our deficit problems would not have reached the crisis proportions they reached during and after the Great Recession. Truth in Spending can keep Arizona from getting back on the spending rollercoaster that destroys state finances. contact your state Legislators
NOTES FROM READERS

Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. – ft
Political Activist Lolly Hathhorn:  “Thank you, Thank you Congressman Dr. Paul Gosar.  You are truly my hero with your views on Tucker Carlson on 1/30/18!  I stand with you 100% and anyone who had a different opinion is just sooo out of touch.  Thanks you for putting it so succinctly.  I just don’t understand what part of “ILLEGAL” people don’t understand.  I stand with you all the way.  Count me in!  Miss Lolly thinks you are fantastic!

Past Chairman AZ GOP Tom Morrissey: The growing influence of Proxy voting at our county and state meetings is a cause for great concern.  Although there are occasions which call for LIMITED use of Proxies, there is no justification for the violation of the principle of "One person. One vote".  When someone takes on the responsibility of becoming a Precinct Committeeman, they should do so with the understanding that they will called upon to attend meetings. Under no circumstance should they become a Precinct Committeeman expecting to send their votes to said meetings through someone else. When coupled with the newly adopted method of voting through electronic devices, leaving no way to audit an election, the possibility of fraud and abuse of the election process is practically impossible to prevent or detect. I'm not attributing blame or accusations on this to anyone, but I am saying that many of us are not happy with it. I urge our legislators to limit Proxy carrying to one per person carrying a proxy and to our PCs and SCs I urge you to eliminate the Electronic Voting process.
Activist Francine L Romesburg : Randy Miller is a good friend whom I respect highly and does research. Clair Van Steenwyk is a good friend whom I respect highly and does research. If you’re a Psychology student you understand the 4 Personality Types based on teachings of Dr. Florence Littauer (MCPS), and Dr. Robert Rohm (DISC). Both men fit ‘Choleric’ / ‘Domineering’ type. Mine type also. I guess both fit ‘Meloncholy’ (detailed Perfectionist) type as secondary. I’m Choleric, Meloncholy, Sanguine. Sanguine- fun (where’s the party), forgetful (where’d I park my car) type, ‘oh look, shiny object – easily distracted. That said, Randy has some excellent points on his observation of Van based on his personal conversational experiences with Van. Randy at least recognizes and admits it is his opinion. Van, however, justifies his personal ‘opinions’ ‘perspective’ on his research only. Van admits it is his ‘perspective’. ‘Perspective’ ‘opinion’ – different words, same meanings.
In my many conversations with Van over the years I’ve had disagreements and agreements. I value and respect our friendship, so I’ve learned to stay quiet when we disagree just to keep the peace. He is a strong personality in a nice friendly way. As a businessman he learned to smile while hitting people over the head with a hammer. Some don’t feel the hammer, some do. Politicians don’t listen to hammers. Politicians can be sharks who eat each other. Randy pointed out in his comment, Van is not good at listening to other person in the conversation. Van wants to convince you to his way of thinking. If you don’t, moves on to next who listen to his way of thinking. That’s who he is. You either accept that or not. Doesn’t make Van a bad person. Van is a good person with a good heart. Is he good for political office? In my humble opinion, Randy Miller is correct in his opinion. If one is unable or unwilling to listen/hear their constituents; what they’re asking, needing, and wanting go get done, there’s a problem. In life it’s more about others than self. Huge difference. In case you ask Van, yes I took 2 college terms in Psychology and got A’s. I don’t claim to have all the answers. I’m not perfect; I’m fine with that. I’ve learned to keep on learning. Have you? You do great research. We all come away with different perspectives. That’s how God made us.
Former Ca Congressman Frank Riggs: Don't know when it became a "thing" for members of Congress to bring a high-profile guest to the State of the Union. I was delighted to have my wife (my favorite Republican Woman!) as my "guest," because without her, I never would have won election and had the extraordinary privilege of serving three terms in Congress. Cathy and I attended my (our) first SOTU under Bush 41!  And by the way, I always attended Pres. Clinton's SOTU addresses out of respect for the office, even though I vigorously disagreed with almost all of his policies! Editor’s Note: Riggs is currently a candidate for Supt of Public Instruction. – ft
Activist Art Olivas: Arizona Freedom Alliance does a fine job of setting the stage for the AZ GOP Statutory Meeting, which took place Saturday, Jan. 27. This back story is necessary reading for a complete picture of what GOP “leaders” think of the conservative, elected state committeemen. The site also exposed the subterfuge engaged in by the state party regarding Bylaws, issuing an alert regarding the weaponizing of the Bylaws against PCs.
Check in later with Frosty’s 1-29-18 Briefs and 1-30-18 Briefs for reports on the meeting. As I said at the meeting Saturday, I don't have any rose colored glasses! So I do my best to tell it like it is. I believe John McCain, Jeff Flake, Jon Kyl, Bruce Ash, Robert Graham, Jonathan Lines are AZGOP swampers!! The sad part of it is that every LD chairman and State PC who has stayed silent were aiding and abetting their actions and allowed them to lead us like herd of sheep to slaughter. We have a lot of inexperienced LD chairman. Some LDs have their little clicks and play musical chairs with their positions, driving away the hard working grassroots members. They are good at telling each other what has to be done but nobody’s doing anything. My own LD has gone from about 85 members to 14 at most meetings. I do not believe in political correctness, neither do the GOP RINOs as they treated us like sh*t last Saturday. Do you have any idea what to say to your kids when asked why you didn't fight for them to have a safe home, city and state? Do you think no fighting under the tent will keep them safe from McCain and his gang? Hell no, we better wake up fight to take back what belongs to our children and family! I will be going back to protesting them. If anybody has the cojones to fight back, email me at tudyo@yahoo.com to get started! Their agenda has no room for us. You can take that to the bank!!!

Attention Republican Group Leaders: If your event announcement is not posted within 24 hours from the time you submitted it - Briefs did NOT receive it. Please resend it to either frostytaylor@cox.net or repcomm@cox.net. – Editor Frosty Taylor

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels will be the guest of Congresswoman Martha McSally at President Donald Trump’s State of Union address tonight. Dannels has served nearly 34 years in law enforcement.  In May 2017, he was appointed Immigration and Border Security Chairman by the National Sheriff’s Association, representing more than 3,000 Sheriffs across the United States and speaks on their behalf to the Department of Homeland Security and President Trump’s Administration. Dannels also serves on the Board of Directors for the 24 member Southwest Border Sheriff Association, and is the President of the Arizona Sheriff's Association.

Congrats To AZGOP Non-Statutory Officers elected during the Saturday mandatory meeting include:

First Vice-chair Parralee Schneider,

Second Vice-chair Cindy Coleman ,

Assistant Secretary Jack Clark,

Assistant Treasurer Joshua Askey,

Sergeant-at-Arms Alberto Gutier and

Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Leanna DeKing.

It Has Been Pointed Out That former AZGOP chairman Robert Graham was the only former AZGOP chair in attendance at the AZGOP Mandatory meeting on Saturday. Hmmm, wonder how he felt as the assembly watched PC/Parlimentarian Joe Neglia take Graham’s yesteryear’s hand-picked parliamentarian (“presiding”) Al Gage to the mat over parliamentary technicalities. Gage’s ruling over the past few years have been a source of a lot of frustration and anger as Establishment RINOs have manipulated the mandatory event to fit their purpose. It’s refreshing to hear Neglia took a stance and made the party bullies adhere to Roberts Rules of Order.

Secretary Gabby Mercer At The AZGOP Mandatory Mtg Mercer tells the assembly, in no uncertain terms, that she has not been allowed to do the job she was elected to do by the state committeemen. See 1-28-18 Briefs for more eye witness commentary/reports on the AZGOP meeting. Also see:

A Reader Notes That AZGOP Chairman Jonathon Lines closing paragraph in yesterday’s GOP’s “only official” newsletter reads, “Last, but most definitely not least, we would like to thank everyone who had a part in making both the Chairman's Awards Dinner and the Mandatory Meeting successful! We could not have done it with you. Freudian Slip???

AAARC Chairman Rev Clyde Bowen 602 309-6015 : The “D’s” are mobilizing! We Republicans, keeper of rights for all. I’ll listen at the Forum. Maybe I’ll get the chance to remind them; who fought for them, who freed many of their ancestors, who fought a war for them, who spread moral integrity upon the planet, who died for them? “R” GUY! Calling on other AZ Republicans to join me. Panelists: Senator Leah LandrumTaylor, Quiana Dickenson - Arizona African American Caucus, Adrian Fontes - Maricopa County Recorder, Michael Ingram - Greater Phoenix Urban League Young Professionals and Roy Tatem - East Valley NAACP (facilitator for panel discussion). That Bill proposes and amendment to Arizona Revised Statute 16-828 to limit the carriage of proxies to only 2. This is important so that we can keep the effort to limit proxy use to a minimum.

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: On reading reports about the Jan. 27 meeting of the AZ GOP Mandatory meeting in the MCRC Briefs, Arizona Freedom Alliance, and a direct observation by LaPaz County Chairman Russell Sias, one can easily see the decline of the AZ GOP.  There are numerous good conservatives fighting for the return of the party to WE THE PEOPLE -  but the lack of good Republican Party leadership is missing.  Here is what we see happening.  We have:

· More and more RINOs as State Committeemen and party officers,

· Incompetent party leadership more given to being controlled by the elected elite than presenting WE THE PEOPLE,

· Apathy of the State Committeemen,

· Control of the party being taken over by non-elected officers,

· Too many County Chairmen who apparently don’t give a damn.

We need someone with credentials to organize the 15 county chairs, and if there are more than 50% of them who are not RINOs and have any leadership ability take control of the party and represent WE THE PEOPLE!  The other thing is for the County PCs elect chairs accordingly.  But that has never happened so far. For you conservatives --- It’s so easy not to try.  Let the world go drifting by, If you never say hello you won’t have to say good by.

PC Art Olivas: The racist good all-white boys GOP of Arizona came out of the swamp in full force last Saturday! Why am I saying this? Because I did not get elected? Hell no, I knew I wouldn't, nor did I expected to. What we all saw was John McCain's, Jeff Flake, Jon Kyl, Bruce Ash, Robert Graham, Jonathan Lines, Jim Click, and Raul Grijalva's Democratic Machine in action! The legally elected secretary of the Republican Party Gabby Saucedo Mercer is stopped from doing her job by John McCain's boy Jonathan Lines and his pack of RINOs. You should have seen our congressmen Martha Mc Sally, Paul Gosar, Andy Biggs and David Schweikert - the guy who bribes us with coffee that we pay for. They all gave us a song and dance and fantastic lip service, assuring us that they are all doing a great job by riding the coat tails of President Donald J. Trump. Just like they did with Sheriff Joe Arpaio when he was in office. Lines and his pack of McCain self-serving RINOs. didn't let Sheriff Joe on stage to speak but you just wait; they will be kissing the Sheriffs Butt again! You can take that to the bank.

Clair Van Steenwyk Responds to Randy Miller: 1-25-18 Briefs “Most people don’t agree on everything, however I do research the issues that I speak & write about and understand some don’t agree with me, but not reading anything into them just see things from my perspective. I’m passionate about these issues, believe Randy might have difficulty with the Lincoln / Douglas Debates among others, read very biting. I ran companies with more than 400 Employees with daily contact with most, and successful negotiating Multi Million Dollar Contracts with Major Food Chains in America, including Wal Mart & Costco. Business isn’t a playground, I worked making money for the owners and securing jobs for those employed by doing so, sorry some have problems with my passion, it’s how I’m wired.  My passion he calls Porcupine, is his Political Hit Piece. Mr. Miller’s porcupine statements could be directed at our last Presidential Candidate presently in office, as I recall debates and personal comments on the Campaign Trail, however wasn’t offensive to most, but rather refreshing to call a Spade a Spade, as I have against Flake & Franks, exposing Records vs. Rhetoric, but knew it offended many in the GOP, proven to be Correct. My running for 2 seats was perfectly legal at the time and unfortunately Sen. Cavanaugh’s Bill preventing it assures us no Congressman will, as must now resign to challenge a Senator and won’t give up a Career risking losing, this law actually restricts Open Ballot Access. Finally playing with others, I’d say we’ve had decades of all these Career Politicians in DC & Phoenix Playing with one another, both DC and AZ are deeper in Debt and lost Freedoms as well. These so called go along to get along Compromising Career Politicians have put us not only in Debt but at risk Militarily, this should be rewarded by Voting them out, however don’t believe it will as they all have the Kiss Up Talent needed for decades so voters play it safe by Electing the Career Politicians that got us in this mess. GOP Leadership hates confrontation and being exposed for what they are, and I’d never want someone covering my back who can’t say things to my FACE.

US Senate candidate Dr. Kelli Ward: As Congress attempts to tackle immigration reform, President Trump is once again putting America first. The Trump administration recently proposed $18 billion in new funding to expand the wall along the southwest border and protect Americans from illegal immigration. Watch this teaser for Kelli's Jan 28 ABC interview.

US Senate Candidate Dr Kelli Ward on White House Immigration framework proposal: “The White House cannot fall into the trap laid by amnesty politicians like Sen. Jeff Flake and Rep. Martha McSally. The need to secure America's southern border and end the inducements leading to illegal immigration is now more important than ever. For this reason, I respectfully but strongly disagree with the White House’s immigration framework.” Continued at framework-proposal

Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. – ft
Itasca Small, PC/SC LD25: THANK YOU, to All SCs who joined Joe Neglia, Tim Horn, Jim Dutton, me and others, in our ACTION to reclaim the integrity of the AZ Republican Party in the conduct of our State Mandatory Meeting on January 27th! As the legitimacy of our tactics became evident, you stayed with us! We voted to defeat the first three special preference bylaw amendments! Then, when my points-of-order had exposed the procedural violations of the voting, my Fellow-LD25 SC, Jacque Wilson, spoke-out at Warp-Speed to second my reiteration of Jim Dutton’s rejected Motion to Table! Thus, precluding “Presider” Al Gage’s attempts to deny the motion’s validity. Then, You, our Fellow-Members of the Body, knew the right thing to do! And, WE, the People, voted to table the amendments to end the out-of-order proceedings! For Our Liberty under God!
Activist Archie Dicksion: The Saturday AZGOP Mandatory was more of the usual chaos. A number of people got there early to gather signatures to allow my anti-proxy resolution to be considered from the floor. We were approached by some lady, who basically said we had to stay in the parking lot to gather signatures. We managed to get the necessary number of signatures. The meeting agenda definitely needs some major changes.  The seven (7) speakers consumed over an hour with little or no meaningful information. Brnovich, Gosar and Biggs provided some useful information; the rest was a waste of time. The meeting was to run from 9am to 3 p.m. with lunch shoved in somewhere. It would appear that party business should come first - then political speeches. As I recall, there’s a total of 1,254 total state committeemen. Only 581 were present in person, 385 were there by proxy and 285 were total no shows. Thus with the no shows and proxies combined over 53 percent of all state committeemen did not actually participate in the meeting in any meaningful way. The question is, how many of those proxies would have actually attended if my resolution and been in effect and adopted into the bylaws? Probably some, but not all. In my humble opinion, the Arizona Republican Party is in danger of  defeating itself  if they do not make some changes soon.  A state committeeman has only one meeting per year to attend. Less than 50% attended. If you do not intend to attend, why seek election. At the MCRC meeting earlier this month, 43% of all votes cast were by people not present.  A party that cannot count on its members to attend meetings and perform at least some work for the party simply cannot continue to survive. The reports are that President Trump, contrary to his  campaign  promises, is now going to urge and pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants. That is probably on the downside of the actual number that will be given amnesty and citizenship.  Guess who those people are going to vote for?  There are many hardworking party workers, but we simply must purge the party of those who are precinct committeemen and state committeemen in name only for purposes of allowing someone else to carry their votes. In any event, all proposed bylaw amendments were either defeated by vote or by a motion to table. The resolutions calendar item was never considered as the time for room occupancy had expired.
LaPaz County Chairman Russell Sias on Saturday's AZGOP meeting: We beat back all but the housekeeping changes. Joe Neglia was really sharp in calling out of parliamentarian A. Gage. The bylaw committee changes were broken out by item.  Most, except the housekeeping stuff, were voted down.  The bylaw issues were last, although, we sat though many candidate speeches against illegal immigration.  Sec Gabby Mercer did herself well, as she spoke against the imposed limitations of not being able to do the job she was elected to do.  She made the point of being denied access to party info.  Neglia forced allowing her report - she was going to get skipped over.
I sat within a few feet of the microphone that Kathy Petsas used to whine against those who spoke against the bylaw motions.  Neglia controlled the manipulations of the Parliamentarian who clearly wanted to support the bylaw change motions to pass her committee changes in total.  Once they were broken out into individual discussions, it was pretty much a done deal.  None passed of any significance.  Meeting ran so late they (rentors) wanted the building cleared. Few left early. The last half dozen motions or so, never even got considered, much to the consternation of Gage and Petsas.  She was visibly upset that her changes didn't go over, attempting several times to override opposition speakers, and interrupted Gage at times as well.
The crowd was pretty much suspicious of the cabal.  Proxies were not popular, nor were they proudly carried about as in years past.  Voting was via a website, www.simplyvoting.com, User IDs and passwords were provided in the credentials packet of campaign flyers.  I never received the mailed-out call letter. Voting via the website allowed for a proxy carrier to vote all their proxies as a single vote count.  The way the vote carrier went, was the way the proxies went.  At least that is what appeared to happen as far as I could see.
Nothing was said about my bylaw change proposal, but it was clear that Archie's (anti-proxy) and my proposal created an underlying current of mistrust.  Probably 20 people, whom (I do not know), stop me with positive comments.  Obviously, Frosty's Briefs, (with my picture) made a significant and positive impact for our cause.  Not a single negative comment was made to me.
It was a contentious meeting.  Respectful, but angry crowd. I think posting our opposition position to the cabal, making a public spectacle of their manipulations was a good one. I think our public exposure saved the day.  All in all, a good day! I have a recording of much of the meeting, at least the important parts.  We won, and big, I think.  Now, we need to wait and see how they change the bylaws with their "housekeeping" changes.
Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: One can only appreciate that LaPaz County Chairman Russell Sias had the time to put into his endeavor (bylaws proposal).  Too bad we don’t have more like him. The cabal, a group of people united in some close design together, usually to promote their private views or interests in an ideology, state, or other community, was not as effective as they had apparently hoped to be – including the non-elected executive dictator, the parliamentarian, an incompetent state chair, RINOs and sadly, too many laid back county chairmen.  Russell’s summary bears this out to the Town Crier . Remember the last Executive meeting where A. Gage threw his weight around and it looked like the state committeemen played dead because of Roberts Rules of Order ignorance.  Now it appears that Joe Neglia was able to call his bluff.  Good for Joe! And Sec Gabby Mercer is till in the dark after all this time.  And just who in the hell is there to help her??  The County Chairmen???  Don’t anyone count on it! Apparently the membership was not to be cowed down!  Lines, Petsas, Kenny, Gage and others should have had enough sense to realize that method of amendments to the bylaws was clearly written so that any proposed amendments was not to pass through a committee!!  Leadership competence??? The secretary has been asked for the results on votes.  Hopefully she will reply and then we will compare the update of the bylaws with the present one.  Remember, “C. Applicability of Bylaws These bylaws apply fully to the county committees of the Arizona Republican Party”.

1-27-18 Briefs

Anti-Proxy Resolution Author Archie Dicksion is asking for state committeemen to sign his petition starting at 7 am in the parking lot as they arrive at the AZGOP Mandatory meeting this morning, in an effort to get his resolution onto the floor for discussion. Dicksion will be in the small parking lot with the barriers at the front of the church. Contact: Dicksion at 949-233-0009

Those Trying To Obtain Enough State Committeeman Signatures to get their issues brought to the floor at tomorrow’s AZGOP Mandatory meeting need to remember that at least 20 percent of state committeemen, representing at least four counties at the meeting, have to sign the petition to get an issue on the floor. The AZGOP has 1,245 state committeemen statewide.

ALERT: AZGOP Set To Weaponize The Bylaws Against Pcs

AZGOP has OUTDONE Themselves For The Mandatory Meeting - Take a look

Notes From Readers

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: Here are the results to the questionnaire for the 15 county chair and 5 former chairs.

1. Are you satisfied with the way the AZ GOP is being handled?  Yes______  NO___4_     Don’t care (no response) _16____

2. Do you think the AZ GOP bylaws need updating?   Yes ___4__     No ____     Don’t care (no response) __16___

3. Would you be willing to met with the other chairs just prior to the Mandatory Meeting to discuss items above?  Yes __2___    No ___1__     No response __1__

4. Would you be willing to chair such a meeting?  Yes __3__     No__1___

5. Mandatory meeting, when it comes to ‘other business’ would you be willing to move that the results of the chair’s meeting, if there was one, be discussed?  Yes__2___     No __1___     No response__1___

There you have it!  Summary!  First, looks like the AZ GOP is controlled by a non-elected, high paid Executive Dictator who apparently ignores the current by laws as evidence by mailing an unsigned call letter bypassing the party secretary, what looks like a leaderless state chair that showed no backing of a censure by the State Committeemen of Senator McCain who later ran and won reelection, and now we have only 4 of the 20 chairs, and former chairs, willing to step forward and represent WE THE PEOPLE.  If the questionnaire had of been requested by the non-elected, high paid Executive Dictator, just how many chair would have responded? Consider, the chairs were elected by popular vote of WE THE PEOPLE.  That means that they represent the values of the majority of their constituents.  When the chairs seemingly don’t give a damn and not even bother to answer a questionnaire, one must assume that also represents the value or feeling of their constituents.  Therefore, we have to assume that WE THE PEOPLE don’t give a damn.  Who the hell cares???? We’ll see what happens at the mandatory meeting today!

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: This is what one gets when a political party is run by a non-elected, high paid Executive Dictator, a self aggrandizement, non elected parliamentarian, laid back county chairmen, and a non-plus state chairman!   The bylaws thing has been ‘snafu’ from the start.   From the  Arizona Freedom Alliance, “our recommendation that everyone vote NO on ALL bylaws questions.  There are some very bad ones in that list that look OK until you examine the actual language which most people won't do” vote no on any/all votes on bylaws

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Editor’s Note: Please keep opinion pieces to 400 words. If extended, they will be subject to editing. – ft

US Senate candidate Kelli Ward: The White House cannot fall into the trap laid by amnesty politicians like Sen. Jeff Flake and Rep. Martha McSally of Arizona. The need to secure America's southern border and end the inducements leading to illegal immigration is now more important than ever. For this reason, I respectfully but strongly disagree with the White House's immigration framework. Nothing should be on the table until the border is fully secured, otherwise, we will find ourselves in this same situation again in a few years. In granting amnesty in 1986, President Reagan trusted Congress to secure the border, which they failed to follow through on. This time, we must ensure the border is secured first. I stand by my proposal that only temporary status should be on the negotiating table until five clear steps are completed: funding and construction of the border wall, ending the visa lottery system, eliminating chain migration, defunding sanctuary cities, and instituting a mandatory e-verify system. I certainly appreciate the president's sincere desire to get a deal done, but he was elected largely on this issue, and I am confident that if he remains firm on what he campaigned on, he can achieve the reform we need without planting the seeds for future immigration problems."
