REPUBLICAN BRIEFS

Condolences To The Family Of Fountain Hills Republican Activist Arlie Denomme who has passed away. She was a former board member, the 2012 Republican of the Year awardee, community activist and wife of current board member Harold Denomme.  Service details are not available at post time.

Tidbits: The rental fee has gone from $3K to $7K for the venue site for the Maricopa County Republican mandatory meeting. Years back PCs passed the hat to help collect funds to over the rental – that’s no longer possible -- so they passed out envelopes for donations as donors must now fill out their name, occupation, etc. according to one of the PCs who has worked the event for a number of years. LD23 PC Shelia Muelhing had so many candidates and vendors that she brought in just short $1K of covering the total cost. Now that was some under taking!

DianeOrtizParsonsActivist Diane Ortiz-Parsons: Thank you for the accolades regarding the handling of Credentials and  the mentioning of my husband, Steve singing the National Anthem. I have been a part of the MCR meeting for the last 13 out of the last 18 years. I want all of your readers to know Lisa Gray assembled the best team I could imagine. Cindy Casaus provided an assortment of food for all the volunteers.  Cathy Schwanke chaired the volunteers and assembling of the packets. Jeni White not only trained the proxy checkers, but she also wrote a program that streamlined the process. Folks said Jerry Clingman organized the smoothest parking lot transition. Kay Reardon was my right hand with credentials. Sheila Muehling chaired the most substantial number of candidate/ vendors of any meeting, I have ever attended and was close to paying for this event through those vendors. Ian Murray presided over the electronic voting saving us a lot of money not ordering ballots or hiring the county recorder's office to oversee the election.  Barry Wong and  Eileen Mueller spent countless hours on resolutions and bylaws respectively; the TARs and YR's helped organize the food trucks and helped whenever needed. When I asked for extra volunteers LD's 12, 17 and 18 came through. The setting up and taking down of the area went exceptionally well. There were over 100 PC's helping to make this meeting successful together with LD Chairmen, and all the MCR Leadership. Whether you or others think you are a Constitutionalist, Moderate, Centrist, ALRA, ASRA, Patriots, Establishment, Libertarian, Conservative, we worked together to have the best run meeting  I have personally witnessed in 30 years! Congratulations to Chairman Chris Herring. May we continue to work together as Republicans to keep Arizona Red in 2018. Editor’s Note: Thank you for providing a run down on the various committee chairs. Again, thank you to all the hard working volunteers. -ft

Rose Sperry 2Yavapai County PC Rose Sperry to Randy Miller: "Randy, I too have stood up and tried to hold accountable those that are serving us contrary to what we elected them to do. And it hasn’t gone well for me either. There’s just no better way to put this: Our party has a problem. It has been infiltrated and hijacked by an ever-growing number of people posing as Republicans. Since their principles are diametrically opposed to republicanism, we have no recourse other than to conclude that they have infiltrated us deliberately, in order to neutralize the effect of any constitutional conservative's effort. Their purpose, revealed in their every speech and action, is to silence conservatives—apparently by whatever means necessary. And if that means voting you out of a position that’s what they will do. The fact all “genuine” constitutional conservatives must face is that RINOs have succeeded in infiltrating our party, in great measure by using our best qualities against us and by demeaning us at every turn in their private meetings. As RINOS, they know that conservatives care about doing the right thing. That is why so many RINO and Progressive talking points stress things like “That’s not who we ARE!” They are appealing to perhaps the key element in our natures, that we want to be good, we want to do right, we don’t want to harm anyone, or offend, or slight anyone. They use this against us by accusing us of doing the opposite! Always, the purpose is to get us to silence our own message, our principles and values, and any chance we might have of overthrowing their unjust domination of our party.

Every day we see the elite Rinos in our meetings being portrayed as the Best of the Best by those other Republican PC’s in Name Only. But far be it from them to investigate how these people earned their “respectability” status. Never will they go there because it may point out their failure to recognize that they’ve been duped!  Sort of like the Democrats that know they’ve voted for the wrong candidate, but damn if they’ll admit. It’s easier to go along to get along rather than to eat Crow! It's gotten to the point where the grassroots are beginning to repeat Hillary Clinton’s shameful phrase, “At this point, what difference does it make.” But, we will hang tight and remain committed because with Patriots defeat is not an option."

rob haneyMaricopa County Republican Committee two-Term past Chairman Rob Haney - a strong supporter of Joe Arpaio as sheriff, but told The Wanderer on January 10 that he is “very disappointed” by Arpaio’s entry into the senate race. Haney supports Ward. “Arpaio is prone to political missteps when he ventures outside of his law-enforcement role,” Haney said. “In the 2002 Arizona gubernatorial race, he shocked the Republican base when, in a television commercial, he ‘endorsed’ far-left, liberal Democrat Janet Napolitano, who was running against pro-life former Republican U.S. Cong. Matt Salmon. Arpaio claimed he was only defending Napolitano against false charges from a third candidate, but many Republicans saw Arpaio’s claim as a distinction without a difference since he did not endorse Salmon. Salmon lost by a squeaker and, to this day, many Republicans hold Arpaio responsible for the loss.” Haney said.
“In the 2014 gubernatorial race, Arpaio endorsed then-Arizona State Treasurer Doug Ducey, who is a strong backer of Sen. John McCain. Arpaio had informed former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, who was also running, that he was not endorsing anyone in the race. Arpaio then endorsed Ducey,” Haney continued, adding: “Thomas had worked closely with Arpaio to attack the illegal-alien invasion in Arizona. Thomas supporters saw this as a betrayal in the fight against the alien invasion since the establishment and their Arizona Bar Association legal allies attacked Thomas in the same manner they had Arpaio. The establishment destroyed both of these fighters against the alien invasion and taught all politicians that they had better not oppose the invasion or they would suffer the same consequence. No politician in Arizona has picked up the battle flag to challenge the invasion since,” Haney said. “Arpaio now will fill the spoiler role as so many Republicans have done in past races. He will split the conservative vote with Ward and give McCain supporter Martha McSally a clear path to winning the Republican primary. He has taken the wind from the sails of the Ward campaign and all of the publicity that might have gone to Ward will now focus on Arpaio. If Arpaio wins, he will be 86 years old when he takes office. Would we have a senator we could look forward to supporting in future elections to hold the seat? Very unlikely,” Haney said. See

tom morrisseyTom Morrissey, Past Chairman AZGOP: Kris and I visited LD14 in Benson on Saturday and as demonstrated in the other areas of the state where I have spoken before Constitutional Conservative gatherings -- there is growing dissatisfaction with the Establishment in OUR party.  And, there was a tremendous enthusiasm and awareness of the truth present, which is obvious with all the groups we've had the pleasure of visiting with, so far.  Senator Gail Griffin also spoke to the enthusiastic audience of patriots who were very receptive to what she had to say. I will be speaking to the Colorado River Tea Party in Yuma this week. I enjoy traveling around our great state once again and being able to talk about Steven Seagal and my new novel "The Way Of The Shadow Wolves".

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Diane Douglas Supt of EdIncumbent Supt of Public Instruction: It’s hard to believe it is 2018 already but what better way to kick-off the year than with Saturday’s MCRC meeting. It was another great day for Republicans! I always enjoy these meetings and the opportunity to catch up with long-time friends and to meet new PCs – thanks for stopping by our table to say “hello!” Thanks to the MCRC Executive team and all the volunteers who made the day a success. Congratulations to those elected as Members-at-Large. Thanks to those who have served us in that position over the past few years. Also, to my volunteers on Saturday – I couldn’t do it without your help and support!! It is an honor to serve you as Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction. In my opinion, there is nothing we do as a state that is more important that educating our youth. Not merely to make them worker bees or college applicants but rather to make them successful citizens of our state and nation; to protect and perpetuate our great republic! As we kick-off campaign season 2018, I deeply and humbly appreciate the support I have received over the past three years and look forward to continuing to serve you.
