REPUBLICAN BRIEFS

The Maricopa County Recorder's Office released a report on Wednesday detailing the changes implemented and feedback received for the 2017 all ballot by mail local elections. Some highlights of the report include the explanation for the drastic reduction in provisional voting and the results from online surveys sent to voters who participated in the election. A copy of the complete, detailed survey results are also available to read online. This is the first report of its kind from the office and Recorder Adrian Fontes hopes to release a similar report after each election in his effort to improve transparency and accountability of the office. Political Activist Lolly Hathhorn: “I am having a very hard time understanding the idiocy of Jeff ‘The Flake’ and his speech.  The man just cannot keep his mouth shut.  I guess you can now consider him a snowFlake!  It is no wonder that he stepped down and is not running for re-election.  As far as I am concerned, he is a traitor to the Republican Party and I say good riddance to him and his kind of RINOS.  I just cannot understand why he has to be so disloyal to my President.  I hear that he might run for Pres in 2020.  Who would vote for him?  He can’t get re-elected and he thinks he has a chance to be the Pres of the U.S.??  Must be a joke because nobody in their right mind would think he is serious.  Too bad that there are so many RINOS in AZ.  If a Republican cannot stand with my President, they need to change parties.  I say GOOD RIDDANCE and don’t you come back no more, no more.  I stand with my President, Donald Trump and my Flag.  I kneel for my GOD!  May GOD bless America, my President and may He have mercy on idiots.

marsha hillActivist Marsha Hill :  People, learn to research all by yourself. There are three, and only three, standing qualifications for U.S. Senator or Representative in Congress which are expressly set out in the U.S. Constitution: age (25 for the House, 30 for the Senate); citizenship (at least seven years for the House, nine years for the Senate); and inhabitancy in the state at the time elected. U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 2, cl. 2 (House); and Article I, Section 3, cl. 3 (Senate). The Supreme Court of the United States has affirmed the historical understanding that the Constitution provides the exclusive qualifications to be a Member of Congress, and that neither a state nor Congress itself may add to or change such qualifications to federal office, absent a constitutional amendment. Powell v. McCormack, 395 U.S. 486, 522 (1969); U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton, 514 U.S. 779, 800-801 (1995); Cook v. Gralike, 531 U.S. 510 (2001).

LD21 PC Randy Miller’s thoughts on candidates running for the open CD 8 seat - #2: This is a serious position. With everything we face with corruption and crimes in Washington, we need an independent thinking, un-beholding, knowledgeable person with strength and determination to honestly represent our values while there. Voters need to check out all of these candidates, then decide which one they prefer. Steve MontenegroSteve Montenegro is a candidate for Congress. He continually boasts he is of “Constitutional” mindset and knowledge. I like Steve and believe he is a good man. However, I believe his understanding of the Constitution, and his position as a legislator with political integrity is seriously lacking. I have had several conversations with him while visiting his LD 13. He stood up in front of the group, trying to explain why he co-sponsored the Popular Vote for President and stumbled over questions. I rose and asked why he supports destroying the Republic and our sovereignty and he told us that wasn’t happening. I asked him who was superior, the federal government or the states? He said the federal government. I informed him how he was wrong with constitution references and he then said “Well, we are equal”. Really? Once again, I stood in front of the group and challenged his take on this. Is this who we want to send to Washington? If you are running for legislator of any state and will be taking the oath to support the constitution, then you damn well better Read it; Know it, and Understand it. How can you be in the state legislature for over 8 years (each time promise to defend the constitution) and co-sponsor HB 2456 - Agreement with the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote? Unforgivable! There were 45 legislators who co-sponsored this garbage, shameful. Most were Republican. See them here: https://legiscan.com/AZ/sponsors/HB2456/2016

Then Saturday evening, Jan 13, 2018, he goes on radio with John Rosato and claims he didn’t support this Bill. This isn’t honest. Although Steve had changed his mind, just presenting it demonstrates complete ignorance and a willingness to steal your sovereignty and independence. Not to mention the entire bill was unconstitutional since the Electoral College is IN THE CONSTITUTION and requires a constitutional amendment which no one in their right mind would support. Maybe 2 campaign donations totaling $1830 from Constantine Querard and another $1284 from Querard’s wife Lisa… See followthemoney.org/=candidate

Virginia KorteVirginia Korte announces for Mayor of Scottsdale: I want you to be one of the first to know about the new commitment I am making to Scottsdale – because I believe you should hear it directly from me. For nearly 30 years, I have dedicated myself to helping maintain our wonderful quality of life.  I have always worked to put Scottsdale first. Now I believe it’s time for me to make the ultimate commitment to helping shape the vision and provide the leadership for our city. I am planning to pursue the office of mayor. The election isn’t until 2020.  However, I want to use the time between now and then to listen to as many people as possible before officially initiating my campaign for mayor.  I want enough time to have thoughtful conversations with people about their priorities for the future of our great city. That’s why I have formed a mayoral exploratory committee. I invite you to join me in this process.  You can contact me at korte@kortescottsdale.com  I also encourage you to visit my new “It’s Time” website at www.kortescottsdale.com I look forward to hearing from you.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

phil lovas 2018CD8 candidate Phil Lovas: With just 40 days to go till election day and two weeks until early ballots go out, I wanted to give you an update on my race for Congress.  I am on the ballot with nearly 3000 signatures.  Thank you to those of you who volunteered to help me.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help and support.  The campaign has a lot of momentum with early ballots going out at the end of the month.

I have been married for 18 years, have three children and attend CCV church in Peoria.  I am staunchly pro-life and pro-second amendment.  I supported and spoke at a rally for Donald Trump in 2015, volunteered on the Trump primary campaign in Nevada and Arizona, was named Arizona campaign chairman in 2016 and appointed to a position in the Trump Administration in 2017.  While other candidates now talk about their support of President Trump, the fact is many of my competitors worked hard in 2015 and 2016 to keep him out of the White House.

My voting record in the legislature is consistently conservative.  I voted against the medicaid expansion, against job-killing regulations, for tax cuts and for border security.  I am also the only candidate in the race to cast a vote against national popular vote, which if in effect, would have elected Hillary Clinton.  I was endorsed in previous legislative races by Arizona Right to Life and the NRA.

At the legislature, I fought to hold elected officials accountable to you. When I came to the legislature I turned down a pension because I don't believe politicians should add debt to the state and get a potentially more lucrative pension than teachers, cops, and firefighters.  In my first full year in the legislature, I sponsored the bill which shut down the elected officials pension plan.   I also fought successfully against a plan to spend your money on building a gym for members of the state legislature. And if I am elected, I will turn down a congressional pension and work to end congressional pensions for politicians.  I also support term limits and making Congress live by the same laws they pass for us.   If you have any questions about me or my campaign please give me a call at 602-541-5504.  You can also see me online at www.lovasforcongress.com

Michele Reagan 2017 SOSSecretary of State Michele Reagan Michele Reagan raises $500,000 on first campaign finance report of 2018. Capped by two signature fundraising events headlined by Governor Ducey and GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons, Secretary Reagan raised nearly a half million dollars over the prior year. Secretary Reagan’s reelection campaign not only sits in a strong financial position but has also collected enough petition signatures to qualify for the ballot. “I’m feeling very confident about where my campaign is at the moment. We’ve seen support from the business community, grassroots and hardworking taxpayers throughout Arizona. More importantly is the positive response from voters about my efforts to fight voter fraud, the SeeTheMoney website and modernizing the SOS office” said Reagan.
