Happy Easter

Attn readers: Briefs will not be posting on Easter Sunday. -ft

Scroll Down To American Freedom By Barbara Espinosa and enjoy all the Easter research she did the past few days.

Ronna_Romney_McDaniel_2018RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: Look at what President Trump has done in this year. ISIS is on the run. Our military is being funded. He cares about our borders and our laws. He cares about our judges, making sure they abide by our Constitution. And then just look at the deregulation and the tax cuts. Two-thirds of Americans are seeing bigger paychecks because of President Trump. So, every Republican should be looking at what President Trump did. He is a bold leader, and it is going to take a bold vision to win in these mid-terms. And we are going to need to get out there and make our case. We are starting to see those numbers close. The RNC has raised double the DNC. We are in all of these battleground states we know we have to keep these majorities because we have something to fight for. America is on the Comeback and We Cannot Go Back to the Schumer-Pelosi Dark Ages

The Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL) is raffling off the iconic Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Mangum revolver with a 6.5" barrel like the one carried by Inspector Harry Callahan in the Dirty Harry movies.  Included with "the most powerful handgun in the world" (circa 1971) is a velvet lined presentation box. $10 per ticket, go to click here to go directly to the raffle website.

Judy Burges 2Senator Judy Burges: Horne News reports that, "Trump’s approval rating hit a 100-day high this month. A total of 42 percent of Americans support Trump and the job he’s doing in the Oval Office. And the sweetest part is the poll was commissioned by the foremost purveyor of fake news: CNN." She says, “Yes, yes, yes I love giving the left heart burn.”  Burges, a long-time West Valley legislator, terms out this year. She has opted not to run for re-election. She has served as both a representative and senator… and definately will be missed when she retires.  Her husband, the late Robert Burges, who was an LD4 Chairman, prior to the boundary changes.

CD 9Dave Giles CD9 candidate Dave Giles: Valentine’s Day Massacre: Six weeks after a horrific shooting claimed 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, national media are still featuring stories.  “These atrocities at our schools are not the America I grew up in.  We need to keep our children and teachers safe while supporting the Second Amendment.  I am very proud of these young people,” Dave Giles, CD9 candidate, remarked

ELECTED OFFICIALS COMMENTARY

Martha McSally 3Congressman Martha McSally: Big news. In response to my questioning during last week's House Armed Services Committee hearing, Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson went on the record and committed to keeping the A-10 flying “at least until 2030." This is the first time that any Air Force Secretary has gone on the record publically to support keeping the A-10 fleet operational into the 2030’s. Two years ago I was fighting to prevent the A-10 from being mothballed entirely. Now, the A-10 is an asset the Air Force is committed to keep in the air for the next twelve years, at the least. This commitment is a significant win for military readiness, close air support for troops fighting ISIS and Russian aggression, and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Click HERE to learn more. I also successfully included $103 million to restart A-10 wing production in the funding bill that passed the House last week. Click HERE for a list of the wins for Arizona in the bill.

Clint Hickman, #4 Bd of SuperBoard of Supervisors Clint Hickman: Our District is large and I do my best to cover as much ground as possible.  I've enjoyed meeting with neighborhood residents to address a concern in their area and helped appoint two Senators - Sine Kerr and Rick Gray.  I have shared information about county updates and have made myself accessible in Wickenburg, Sun City and Sun City West. I met the new CEO of Nikola Motors, a company who will be bringing jobs to the West Valley and attended a meeting with Maricopa County Industrial Development Authority who promotes economic development through low-cost financing and community investments to learn what new projects may come to the West Valley.  I participate in the El Rio Steering Committee, a planning group who oversees what may happen with on the El Rio and the progress being made.

CALL TO ACTION

Latest Legislative Activity From Jose Borrajero

Latest Call-to-Action:  azrrt-call-to-action-az-legislature-week-beginning-mon-032618

Latest How-They-Voted Report:azrrt-how-they-voted-report-week-ending-fri-032318

Dave Kopp President, Arizona Citizens Defense League - Speak or Be Spoken For: Have you heard the latest news from Governor Doug Ducey? In response to intense pressure from those pushing gun control, he said, "We are building an aggressive plan that address all these issues around school safety. Arizona can lead the nation in tackling this - and in a way that is non-partisan. We've done this on other issues, and we can do it again." Ducey's plan, which was released a week ago, is looking pretty un-American and allows people who own firearms to be treated like criminals. His proposals would allow for firearms confiscations based on hearsay. We have been fighting bad proposals like this one for years, and each time they get closer to their goal.To put it simply, Ducey wants limitations on your rights. This is just one of his many ideas on how to weaken the American citizen and give those who want to disarm you the upper hand. Ducey tried to push these changes through with zero regard for procedure, but luckily, some responsible members of the Legislature have their priorities in order. Ducey's proposed plan will likely be split into several small bills, and you have the power to stop them. Will you donate $10 or more to support our cause and DEMAND your rights stay intact? Arizona's state government MUST continue to be pro-rights. Your voices and actions are more important than you might think. In addition to your donations, we are asking you to take the next step as responsible citizens and email your legislators to tell them exactly what you want. They need to hear it from you. Tell them "No gun control in Arizona. Not now, not ever!" The success or defeat of every bill relies on the actions of those it will affect. Your voice matters, it makes all the difference. Donate TODAY! Email your legislators TODAY! Take action TODAY!  Thank you,

NOTES FROM READERS

Opinions expressed by readers are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing

bill reillyFormer LD22 PC Brian Reilly: This is a reply that I received from President Trump regarding my seeking clarification about his position on the Second Amendment. When I wrote to President Trump, I expressed my concerns about his public statement regarding gun confiscation and due process.  I think in the heat of the moment, he misspoke.  All people, who realize that the Second Amendment is the cornerstone of the entire Constitution, can rest assured that President Trump will defend the 2A and our God given rights as recognized by the U.S. Constitution. We're fortunate to have Donald Trump as our president. His letter makes it very clear that he will continue to support and defend our Second Amendment right to Keep and Bear Arms. This came out the day after I received Trump’s letter: Trump Doubles Down: 'We're Going to Protect Our Second Amendment'

Letter from President Trump regarding 2A March 28, 2018

Alex MeluskeyActivist Alex Melinsky: Thank you to all that came out in support of Contract with American’s Veterans (CAV) and other Veterans groups at the Western Conservative Conference this past week.  A special thank you to Floyd Brown and Lori Klein Corbin for their generosity to our volunteers and veterans.

Dale GohrDale Gohr of Clarkdale - Trump Wake-up Call Regarding Signature on Disastrous Spending Bill: I have been and remain an ardent supporter of yours - albeit that does not mean anything like “Walking in Lock-Step”. I have criticized some of your comments and will in the future whenever I believe the situation justifies a disparaging remark. I can excuse some of what I consider gutter talk because I somewhat understand the New York street fighting mentality, and the horrid frustration you must put up. That said: I do not see any viable excuse for allowing the RepublicRats and/or DemocRats to push you into a corner and have you capitulate by yielding to their lackluster incompetence and petty political pandering. i looked for you to Back Them Down by telling them “To get off their lifeless donkeys and do what they are being paid to do, which does not include the passage of legislation that none of them have read or understand”. I expected you to have the courage to tell the Washington Establishment that if they are going to pass this bill they would own it; because they would have to “Override Your Veto”. To stand there saying you will “never sign another bill like this” and claim your signing is because of Military Payroll is far too hollow. In my opinion, you have done the greatest injustice to The United States of America that I’ve seen since ObamaCare. Allowing the likes of Charles Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and the rest of that Ilk, to drag you into the Swamp is dangerous and if you let Robert Mueller get you into that Quicksand Bog that he is trying to get you into; You will have even more trouble because Mueller has no restrictions on his investigations. He could indict you for spitting on the sidewalk and probably cause you to serve prison time for it. Another thing Joe Biden’s rants are insignificant; acknowledging them is counterproductive. Mr. President: My wife and I are steadfast supporters of you, your agenda and the “Make America Great Again Movement,” we believe we have a way to eliminate a massive amount of Illegal Immigration Problems at no cost; if someone will actually evaluate it. We intend to stay on the President Donald J. Trump bandwagon even though we are extremely disappointed today. We expected a tougher stand, however, we do not see anyone worthwhile to replace you with. Let’s hope and pray that we don’t need to start looking.

Brian 4LD15 Senate candidate Brian Joseph Lesinski: I was asked where I stand on the right to own a gun. First, I am a pro 2nd amendment individual who will and has put myself at risk to protect the rights granted by God, and not man, to have the tools necessary to protect and preserve their individual rights. The 2nd amendment was not added to the U.S. Constitution, so we could hunt or for home defense but was added to provide “We the People” the tools needed to over through a tyrannical and overbearing government that no longer represents the people. After all, we created our current government, and we can change it if needed, but only if we have the means to carry out our duty as good stewards of the principles located in our founding documents. The government understands this, and that is why at every opportunity they try to take away the tools that can take away their power.

Our founding citizens were able to overthrow their government that no longer worked for them because they had the tools equal to or better than the British military. So, if we are to look to the founders for guidance, then we do not need to restrict citizens from military-style tools but encourage policies that put more of these tools in the hands of capable individuals as possible. Most crimes that involved a gun usually are not carried out with a military-style weapon. Using the current Florida mass murder incident if Nicholas Crus used his shoot gun, sold to him illegally by Dick’s Sporting Good, he would have murdered many more people then with the military-style weapon used.

I am old enough to remember going to a public high school where we had students who would hunt before school and have their guns in their trucks mounted in the window parked in the school parking lot. What has happened in the last 20 years that has created these mass murders? Is it a lack of a nuclear family, Hollywood, video games, the perforation of prescription drugs? I don’t know, but I don’t think for one minute it has anything to do with guns, bump stocks or high capacity magazines. If Government truly cared about the needless suffering of its citizens, they would address the real problem of these mass murder incidents that have nothing to do with guns but something else going on in our communities. Sergio ArellanoCD3 candidate Sergio Arellano: Are you tired of Raul Grijalva attacking your way of life? After enduring decades of Grijalva’s attack on your values, are you ready to say No More? Is it time for Raul to go? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then we have the answer for you! Sergio Arellano. Sergio is running to defeat Raul Grijalva. Sergio can defeat Raul Grijalva. This fall we can write a new chapter. We need your support today to make that a reality. We need your support today to officially retire Grijalva on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. A Wounded Warrior, Sergio Arellano has faced many battles as an Infantryman. Whether it was in Ramadi, Fallujah, or Tikrit, Iraq, he didn’t shy away from the fight. Born at Kino Hospital and raised on the south side of Tucson, Sergio is a first generation American. His values are the same values many of you have - FAITH, FAMILY and FREEDOM.

Sergio’s first taste of real politics came after his time in Iraq. As an advocate for wounded veterans, he faced a situation where a wounded female soldier was having a very hard time getting the necessary care she needed from the VA. As her advocate, Sergio turned to Congressman Raul Grijalva to try and intervene on his constituent’s behalf. After multiple attempts to meet with the Congressman where appointments were repeatedly rescheduled or cancelled, Sergio turned to the other representative from southern Arizona, Gabby Giffords and at least got Mr. Grijalva’s constituent the help she desperately needed. Sergio’s exposure to Raul Grijalva and his complete lack of caring for a wounded female soldier spoke volumes about Grijalva’s priorities. Contact: https://arellano4az.com/

Dave Giles CD9CD9 candidate Dave Giles: Democrat Chuck Schumer:  “I’m really excited about our $1.3 trillion dollar spending bill.”  Of course, it’s his bill!  “Can I count on your support in November so I can fight to balance the budget and stop out of control spending?”  Giles queried.
