Action alert: AzCDL Update: We just learned that on Thurs, March 29, that the Senate Committee of the Whole (COW) is scheduled to debate AzCDL-requested bill HB 2211.  We apologize for the late notice - the Legislature tends to post their hearing calendars at the last minute. HB 2211 would add a personal exemption for firearms to the state's bankruptcy statutes.  Currently there is no specific bankruptcy exemption for your personal firearms. We have prepared an email for you to send to your Arizona State Senator urging them to support HB 2211 during COW and Third Read. Click take-action too send your email. Thanks for taking the time to make a difference!

In response to the question, "Do you have anyone  dependent on you?” the man wrote: "7.1 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crack-heads, 4.4 million  unemployable scroungers, 80,000 criminals in over 85  prisons, at  least 450 idiots in Congress and a group that call  themselves politicians." NOTES FROM READERS

Opinions expressed by readers are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing

mark lewis (2)Mark Lewis, Director - Central AZ Project: Enclosed is the ballot measure that has a new approach to 50% renewable energy mandates on voters. See senate hearing This measure will also cost $500 per house and should be considered another type of solar tax mandate. This version of the 50% solar mandate has an escape clause that allows the commission to determine if this massive mandate is too expensive on homeowners they can change it or cancel it. I am disappointed that both 50% solar ballot measures do not include non-carbon nuclear energy as a renewable resource like they do in France. I will ask for changes to allow nuclear at Tuesdays’ (March 27) hearing. In addition, 50% is too high a bar for renewable's they should be limited to 30% if nuclear is not in the mix. We should leave exiting coal power in place until 2050. The net effect of both ballot measures is the mandate to pick winners and losers in energy resources. I support an all of the above energy portfolio like we have now. Both bills will cost rate payers higher power bills of $500+ per year. Both bills will subsidize Asian solar panel makers that have violated US free trade agreements hurting American solar panel manufacturing like those at First Solar in Tempe. HCR 2017 is the least worst solution to our energy needs, and has the most options to stop these massive rate increases for solar mandates. Please support HCR 2017, and lets start talking about this on the campaign trail for Nov. 2018. See utility-writes-its-own-renewable-energy-ballot-measure Editor’s Note: Lewis’s letter came in before the hearing, but due to the back log of letter, Briefs did not see his letters until last night. –ft

Mark Lewis, Director - Central AZ Project to Congressional Delegation: I support your Move to open CRS reports spotlights agency's climate debate -- Using these key congressional research reports to craft state legislation is very important. Please don't let the green agenda take this government research reporting process out of policymakers hands. See Move To Open CRS Reports Spotlights Agency's Climate Debate

Bruce Piepho - 2Bruce M Piepho, Cochise County PC/SC To AZRA Members: Former Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman Lyle Tuttle stated for good reason in reference to Martha McSally:"If you live in CD2, I urge you to get rid of her!!!"  Ah so - she is running not in CD2 but for the senate.  All voters in Arizona should think about voting for the RINO Martha McSally.

Moses SanchezPHoenix Mayoral candidate Moses Sanchez: Every day across Phoenix, thousands of small business owners open their shops and stores to provide value to our community. These owners create jobs for our residents and proudly serve their customers. I am proud to be one of those small business owners in Phoenix that creates jobs and opportunities for our community. My daughter Shannon and I have built a digital marketing business from the ground up, starting in 2013 with just the two of us. Now, we are proud to have built a staff of 12.I know what it means to manage a budget, sign both sides of a paycheck and deal with overbearing regulations. And I'm running for Mayor of Phoenix because we need someone with business experience at City Hall Send a Small Business Owner to City Hall! Just like when I started my business, this campaign is starting from the ground up. But with your help, we are continuing to grow and spread our message of sending a small businessman to shake up the status quo at City Hall.Join our campaign and help me bring my business experience to City Hall. I will fight for you, for Phoenix families and for the thousands of small business owners that represent our community.

Martha McSally 3Senate candidate Martha McSally recorded this video just for you to listen to before midnight on March 31st. It will only take a minute to watch and we hope you will do so right now. We've got so much enthusiasm here on the ground in Arizona, and we are so close to hitting our goals for the quarter... please watch Martha's short video message right now. – McSally WAR ROOM

Senate candidate Dr. Kelli Ward is a true conservative, grassroots candidate for Senate in Arizona.kelli ward 2018 a She is in a tough primary fight. Democrats and the retiring Senator Jeff Flake are attacking her! Kelli Ward is running for Arizona Senate to help true conservatives fight back against the establishment. Jeff Flake, the retiring never-Trump GOP Senator does NOT want Kelli Ward to win.  Jeff Flake would rather see Democrats take this Senate seat than a true conservative and supporter of the President. It's clear Kelli is the best choice to uphold conservative values.  – The War Team
