GOP Centrists Face Decision Day On Dreamer Petition Republican centrists will have to show their immigration cards on Tuesday after a month of gamesmanship within the House Republican Conference.  If the centrists demanding votes on legislation to protect “Dreamers” who came to the country illegally as children can get 218 signatures on their petition, it will force a vote this month that Republican leaders have sought to avoid.  If they do not, they’ll miss a deadline, punting the issue to July and taking their foot off the accelerator. full story

Lyle Tuttle April 2018Former Maricopa County Republicans Chairman Lyle Tuttle: wes harris 1Wes Harris is correct: "The moderates have taken over AzRA and the members have fallen in line like lemmings regardless of the illegal way they the pirated the organization and the laws they broke doing so." Wes, not all of the members have fallen into line - some of us refused to have anything further to do with them, and have resigned.  I hope those remaining members clean their glasses and take another look at just what transpired and then decide if they really want to join with such people. The huge fracture in the AZGOP has trickled down -- John McCain will win one for the liberals at this rate!  Shame on us!

zack 22Zack Taylor, Chairman, www.NAFBPO.org: We have been advising Congress and anyone else that would listen that the threat of transnational crime in relation to opioid overdose deaths is the threat to fear, not prescriptions from Doctors or Pharmacists.  Why they choose to focus on Doctors and Pharmacists as the source of the problem is an obvious deflection campaign to draw attention away from this border insecurity threat that should be obvious to anyone paying attention.   opioid-fentanyl-dwarfs-heroin-cincinnati-drug-supply-killing-more

franks riggs 3 aFrank Riggs response to Scott Powelson: I appreciate the "Former scott powelsonLD 13 PC" drawing attention to my congressional and professional record 6-11-18 Briefs although I suspect he's a stalking horse for one of my opponents.  Here are the facts:

1) My congressional voting record can be researched here: https://www.congress.gov/member/frank-riggs/R000252.  I received the following recognitions and awards for my service in Congress:

The Heritage Foundation: “Representative Riggs spearheaded many cutting-edge initiatives like school choice and charter schools.”

Received “Excellence in Leadership Award” from Children’s Educational Opportunity Foundation & National Center for Policy Analysis

Spirit of Enterprise Award – U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Guardian of Small Business – National Federation of Independent Business

Eagle Award – Associated Builders & Contractors

Bulldog Award – Watchdogs of the Treasury, Inc.

Special Recognition Award – Center For Criminal Justice Studies

2)  As a member of Congress and the House Appropriations Committee, I helped craft legislation dramatically reducing federal funding for K-12 education (and other federal programs) in an effort to downsize and eventually eliminate the U.S. Dept. of Education. Link for that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_government_shutdowns_of_1995%E2%80%931996 When the Senate wouldn't override Clinton's veto, I passed legislation through the House consolidating the 30+ federal education programs into a single block grant to the states and co-sponsored legislation to prohibit spending federal education funds on national testing long before anyone had heard of Common Core.

3)  Common Core is no longer a federal mandate.  The current federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act prohibits the federal government, through grants, contracts or other agreements, from taking any action against a state that exercises its (sovereign) right to choose its own standards.  However, Common Core is now a state mandate and the state standardized AzMerit test is aligned to Common Core.

4) I'm proud of the fact I served on the board of Charter Schools Development Corporation (CSDC) and was its EVP from 1999-2001 and its CEO from 2004-12.  CSDC is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution that helped 12 nonprofit Arizona charter schools build campuses educating 5,000+ students in grades K-12. I was also the founding president, in 2003-04, of Arizona Connections Academy, a nonprofit, statewide, accredited online school.

5)   I'm the only Republican candidate for Supt. of Public instruction who's held legislative office and has a proven pro-life, pro-family voting record. As a U.S. Congressman, I was "A" rated and endorsed by National Right to Life for my congressional voting record in the 104th and 105th Congresses.

Elected Officials Commentary

Paul Gosar 2016Congressman Paul Gosar: I am proud to join Congressman Andy Biggs and other great patriots in asking the court to rule that the federal law does not require the federal government to arrest and deport a criminal alien “immediately” after the criminal is released by the state or local government or else not at all. Currently, some jurisdictions are releasing hardened criminals into our neighborhoods and leftists claim the federal government cannot deport them unless they are “immediately” taken into custody when the local governments release them. The leftists know that the federal agents cannot possibly be standing by on call for this and they want these convicted and dangerous illegal aliens roaming your neighborhood. This is ridiculous and not required by the law so we are asking the Court to change this dangerous practice. Click here to read more
