Today is Flag Day. Be sure to display your American flags.

Moments before 5 pm yesterday, Attorney Cory Langhofer filed a nomination petition complaint against US Senate sandra dowling 2Republican Candidate Sandra Dowling with the Clerk of the Superior Court in behalf of Paul Mueller. The complaint claims Dowling has insufficient valid signatures to be placed on the Aug 28 ballot challenging Established backed Sen Debbie Lesko, who was recently electedDebbie Lesko to replace Congressman Trent Franks, who resigned his long-term position last winter. The complaint lists 16 objections to Dowling’s name appearing on the primary ballot. Late last night, Dowling commented, “I submitted more than 3000 signatures to the Arizona Secretary of State—65% more than the number required.  I welcome her (Lesko’s) challenge because now she can see what we learned in the signature gathering process—residents of Congressional District 8 want a different representative to serve them in the United States Congress!” -ft

Bruce Piepho - 2Yesterday afternoon, Pima County’s LD14 Fourth Vice-Chairman Bruce Piepho withdrew Supt of Public Instruction candidate Dr Robert ‘Bob’ Branch’s invitation to participate in a LD14 debate with challenger Frank Riggs due to Branch’s objections to Piepho scheduling Mommy Lobby spokesman Jennifer Reynolds to make a presentation just prior to the candidate debate. A thread of e-mails were exchanged between Branch and Piepho the past few days as Branch expressed  concern about Reynolds presentation prior to the debate noting Reynolds is allegedly one of Riggs campaign team. Piepho says  the decision was his alone, as he did not  take a vote of the LD14 Executive Board prior to excluding Branch from the two-candidate debate.  Photo below – Branch, Riggs, Reynolds - ft

Barbara Medal 2Activist Barbara Medal: To Maricopa Precinct Committeemen just an FYI for you to ponder. First do you know that as Precinct Committeemen you can attend the MCRC (County Party) meeting? It is well worth your while to try to attend this monthly meeting, at least once, that occurs (usually) on the first Tuesday of each month. Next month due to July 4th it will probably be on July 10th .

First off, it was you ‘PCs’ that voted for the County Party leadership at the January 2018 meeting so they work for you, represent you, and yet you have no idea of what transpires on your behalf. Did you know that as a Precinct Committeeman/woman you are not allowed to speak, ask questions during the meeting or make a statement? (Thank you Frosty for giving us a voice) Likewise at the State meetings which state committeemen/women are not privy to attend nor are even aware of what happens at these meetings. Our LD chairmen attend but seldom do they report much of anything to us. Nor do they have meetings very often.

It was an interesting meeting Tuesday June 5th though, for some who were unaware of the difference between a Federal voter registration form and our Arizona form. Many of us who have actually done voter registrations have been aware  for the past few years that the Arizona form is the one we always use as it addresses the legal citizenship issue whereas the Federal merely asks for a check in the box to declare legal status with no further verification.

One last thing, vet candidates ask them the tough questions. Do you know which of them supports DACA or where they stand on the border, amnesty? How about school safety has there been any attention to the fact that our AZ schools have not put in place any protocol to protect our precious children. We are sitting on a time bomb it can happen here. Unfortunately while we piddle around not addressing the school boards administrators and alerting everyone we know of this issue that our children are not safe at school from any deranged mental case that wants to fulfill his homicidal Ideation and kill innocent people. We may well be soon holding a prayer vigil for a tragic loss of life that could have been prevented. Our inaction will be deadly.

zack taylor 2Zack Taylor, Chairman www.NAFBPO.org: It has become clear that the talk of sanctifying DACA and new talks of Amnesty are fueling the current illegal immigration surge including bogus refugee claimants. Obviously our Government is complicit as it prolongs the dialog on DACA and Amnesty from the moment President Trump blinked on DACA repeal while his administration was faltering on Immigration Enforcement at the border. Those errors must be corrected for the good of all Americans. Emotions and Snowflake thinking aside, to secure the border DACA applicants must go home and amnesty talk totally defeated. Activist Stephen Sivigliano: Carefully read the below letter from my congressman.  He's trying hard to rein in the deplorable work and lies of klanned parentlesshood, without actually banning abortion.  That would require the citizens to demand abortion be banned, since congress, as is, won't do it.  With Paul Gosar as Speaker, at least the above plans would get done.  Call your congressperson, and demand Gosar be voted Speaker, before it's too late.

Dear Mr. Sivigliano,

Thank you for contacting me regarding funding for family planning and women's health organizations.  I appreciate your thoughts on tpaul gosar 2015his issue and welcome the opportunity to respond.

With a Republican-controlled House, Senate and Presidency, our united federal government is poised to act on a bold conservative agenda, including right-to-life issues.  The previous administration seemed fixated on ensuring the lion's share of federal funding went to groups that provide abortions. This appalling approach must be corrected in the 115th Congress under the leadership of Congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump. Federal funding that is directed to health care must be appropriated wisely, in a way that meets the pivotal healthcare needs of our country while respecting our core values and the right to life.

Unfortunately, as it currently stands, funding for women's health and family planning services are disproportionately directed to Planned Parenthood. This is a problem because, institutionally, Planned Parenthood performs a large percentage of all U.S. abortions each year, but falls short in providing truly vital services including mammograms and cancer screenings.  Further, the approximately 665 Planned Parenthood locations nationwide prove inaccessible to thousands of women and families, especially in rural areas. Planned Parenthood facilities are outnumbered 20:1 by the 13,500 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) across the country. In Arizona specifically there are only 10 Planned Parenthood facilities, and zero in the Fourth Congressional District. This is compared to the 132 FHQCs which serve every area of the state and every population. Despite this incredible disparity in service area and accessibility, Planned Parenthood soaks up significant amounts of Title X federal funding appropriated for low-income family planning programs.

Congress and the President must work to redirect funding from Planned Parenthood to organizations which will provide more comprehensive care for women and families - namely, FQHCs and RHCs. These organizations provide a more inclusive array of services at far more locations than Planned Parenthood does without infringing on the consciences of Americans who object to the use of their tax dollars to fund abortions. Additionally, these facilities are required by law to accept Medicaid beneficiaries, so low-income Americans would be guaranteed access.

Thankfully, taxpayer-funded abortions have been outlawed through the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funds from being used for abortion and related services. This measure has been successfully attached to the annual Appropriations Bill since 1976. Its longevity is a testament to the popularity of the idea that pro-life Americans who find abortion objectionable should never be forced to pay for it.

In the 115th Congress, my colleagues and I have improved on that tradition by passing H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017 through the House. I was proud to vote in favor of H.R. 7, which if signed into law, would make permanent the prohibition of the use of federal funds for abortion and abortion services. It would prohibit facilities owned or operated by the federal government, and federal employees operating within the scope of their employment, from performing abortions.

Passing H.R.7 is an important first-step in this fight, but it does not go far enough on these issues. While Planned Parenthood is not able to earmark the federal funds it receives specifically for abortion services, they still receive federal funds. As a result, taxpayers are still effectively funding abortion against their wishes because the operational cost of Planned Parenthood's healthcare and abortion services are fungible. This means that federal money can be used to cover costs elsewhere within Planned Parenthood so that other funds can be reallocated for abortion.

Consequently, I support terminating all federal funding to Planned Parenthood. As such, I am a proud cosponsor of H.R. 354, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2017. H.R. 354 would place a one-year moratorium on all federal funding for Planned Parenthood until such time as Planned Parenthood agrees not to perform abortions. The measure would reroute federal dollars to the approximately 13,500 FQHCs and RHCs around the country and provide $235 million in additional funding to community health centers. I believe this is the only solution for Planned Parenthood's irresponsible and disgusting actions in past years.

My colleagues and I are also using the Congressional Review Act (CRA) - a statutory tool available to the House and the Senate for the purpose of rolling back overreaching regulations - in order to slash through the thicket of destructive last-minute Obama Administration regulations. H.J.Res.43 uses the CRA to cancel the "Compliance With Title X Requirements by Project Recipients in Selecting Subrecipients" rule which prohibited states from defunding organizations like Planned Parenthood for any reason if they provide family planning services under the Title X Family Planning Program. This rule flagrantly undermines the discretion of states and localities to determine which organizations are most humanely and effectively using federal funds for family planning, while simultaneously reducing incentives for organizations to improve the quality of care.

Again, I appreciate your thoughts and concerns.  It is an honor to serve Arizona as part of its congressional delegation.  Your suggestions are always welcome, and if ever I may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.  To receive the latest legislative updates and news you can sign up for my e-newsletter at gosar.house.gov.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

phil woolbright 2JP Candidate Phillip Woolbright:“The Comeback” - Popular songs are written with goals and objectives for the listeners, many are motivational and full of encouragement, others tell your story. Six years ago Phillip Woolbright was thrust into a devastating world of false accusations and innuendoes. None of the concerns were true and all were motivated by hurt and guilt of another. Serving as a Justice of the Peace has been one of Woolbrights’ greatest achievements and a place he feels led to return to. The Chorus to the pop song “Comeback” sung by Danny Gokey holds a message for all want to return and achieve more: “This is your time your moment, The fire the fight your golden, You've come so far keep going, Oh here comes the comeback “ Vote for Phillip Woolbright for Justice of the Peace, stronger having gone through the experience, wiser by experiencing the corruption first hand and devoted to advocate change for the future.

Kelli Ward - physician 5Senate candidate Dr Kelli Ward: Rep. Martha McSally has an F-rating with conservatives. In fact, she scores even lower than Jeff Flake. Help me defeat her and take back Arizona's Senate seat for conservatives. Chip-in and help me win right now.
