6-23-18 Briefs

There will be no  Briefs posting on Sunday, June 24.  - ft

Opinions expressed by readers are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. Briefs posts candidate announcements, but does not endorse candidates, nor do we post endorsement statements. - ft.

Tassie Small Campaign HeadshotsItasca Small, LD25 PC/SC: Interesting that in the 6-21-18 Briefs, Lobbyist/Campaign CQConsultant Constantin Querard aka CQ--apparently speaking for himself and client candidates who didn't choose to speak--took such exception to LD22 State Senate Candidate Clair Van Steenwyk's thought-provoking observations in the 6-20-18 Briefs; precipitated by the spate of petition challenges brought against Conservative Republicans. Cherry-picking certain portions of Clair's comment, extrapolating, painting him with "facts" not in-evidence, and taking unseemly crude stabs, "CQ" showed us how to write clair van steenwykan Alinsky-style rant, in the vein of the 13th Rule for Radicals: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

It's also interesting that Clair so frequently attracts efforts to pick him as a target for destruction. Experience shows that those who take the most flak emanating from Alinsky's Rule 13, are those who are most feared; as individuals for whom an informed electorate just might vote!

Frank ThorwaldFurther, in another comment on 6-21-18 , addressing the signature Sandra Dowling 2challenges referenced by Clair, Frank Thorwald presented additional facts in the case of CD8 Candidate, Sandra Dowling. Dowling had to defend a frivolous challenge--at a reported cost of $8,000--only to have the AZGOP drop its case. As an example of the frivolity of the claims against Dowling, one of the signatures the AZGOP challenged as belonging to an unregistered voter was that of none-other-than Clair Van Steenwyk! [Rule 13, again!] Clair showed-up in court with a plethora of proof of his valid registration!

For those who don't know, the National Popular Vote movement CQ is lobbying hard for threatens our survival as Our FREE Nation under God! The United States of America are NOT democracies! Article IV, Section 4, of the Constitution clearly requires: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, . . ." It is high-time we demand that guarantee be honored, by purging the tentacles of "democracy"--AKA: "mob rule," and "the fallacy of appeal to the people"--from our State and our Nation!

Mrs. Elizabeth Powel: "What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?" Benjamin Franklin: "A REPUBLIC, Madam, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT!" (Emphasis added.)National Popular Vote would take us farther down the road to democratic tyranny/mob rule! EPCOR exemplifies the tyranny of crony capitalism. Please, keep beating

Rose Sperry 2Marianne Ferrari, LD20 SC and Rose Sperry, Yavapai County SC – Our president needs more friends in Congress! They must be true conservatives, to counter all the RINOs in Congress who are grimly holding back the Trump agenda. We are sick to death of watching the RINOs in Congress work in direct opposition Wendy Rogers 2to everything we voted for, when we elected Trump. We have found a solid ally for our president in Wendy Rogers—a true conservative, and a solid Trump candidate who’s running for the House of Representatives in CD1. Wendy is straightforward, honest, and highly intelligent. She’s a practical and clear thinker who’s got the energy, the stamina, and the iron will to stand up for the agenda that the people demanded in 2016. Wendy is ex-military—a pilot who served in the Middle East. She’s knowledgeable about issues related to the military, and to that part of the world. She’s also a successful business owner, so has the very mindset we need to get practical, America-First decisions made in Washington. Wendy Rogers is also a highly focused and determined individual. Let’s face it, that’s what the situation in Congress calls for, right now! Wendy means what she says. She’ll take our side, the Trump side, on every issue, and stand firm. It will be a pleasure to be represented by someone who will act with the well-being of the people, the state, and the nation uppermost in her mind. That’s the kind of person we must have, in these historic and difficult years! Wendy will fight for us. If you're in CD1, Wendy needs your vote. She also needs donations, so she can wallop her opponents with plenty of well-aimed TV ads. Let's give her a huge push all the way to Washington! #MAGA

cathi herrodCAP CEO Cathi Herrod, Charles Krauthammer, 1950-2018 Incisive commentary. Calling it like he saw it. Love of country. Smart. Congenial. Funny. That’s the Charles Krauthammer I knew from the two times he spoke at our CAP Family Dinner. Of all the speakers we’ve had over the last 20-plus years, Dr. Krauthammer ranked in the top five or so in popularity and draw. He’s one of only two speakers we have ever had twice. The other one was the late Tony Snow. The interest in hearing from him in person was that strong. Many of you wanted to make sure to see him in person because you followed his television appearances and his published columns. True, Krauthammer did not hold our worldview or position on the public policy issues we hold dear. His language may have been a bit coarse at times – even before our socially conservative audience. His views were more nuanced on issues like abortion and marriage. But, he respected and valued our participation in public policy and our worldview.

chris brantLD23 Activist Chris P Brant: In what must have been a dated article by Kelli Ward - physician 5Dr. Kelli Ward yesterday, she did not make sense again. Stating that McSally doesn’t support building the wall is a ridiculous falsehood. Unlike Congresswoman Martha McSally, Kelli Ward doesn’t have a job in Washington and so with time on her hands there is no excuse for the inaccuracies. With a little basic research Kelli Ward would have discovered that the fight for the Conservative ‘Securing America’s Future Act’ was led by Representatives Bob Goodlatte and Martha McSally. It most certainly included $25B for the wall. When I posed a question to Dr Ward at last Martha McSally 3Wednesday’s meeting about the Act she seemed confused about what the legislation was about. Before posting the letter today (Friday) with the false statements she could have taken time to study the issue further. Also, I know she may not have seen a television recently but I am surprised Kelli Ward hadn’t heard about the advertisement by Representatives David Schweikertdavid schweikert (2) and McSally that is playing, demanding that the wall be built. Is she now starting a fight with Congressman Schweikert too? In our post-meeting discussion on Wednesday Ward and I again went over the Omnibus Bill vote. Martha McSally fought for the funding for the military (that Ward professes to support) which is why McSally voted for the legislation. An experienced legislator would know that sometimes to get desperately needed funding (i.e. for the military) you have to “hold your nose” when other projects are included. To the great credit of her dogged determination and the great relationship that McSally has with the President, she educated the President on the capabilities of the A10 Warhog and then secured funding to save the plane from mothballs. Something allied ground troop the world over very much appreciate. Editor’s Note: Briefs received Ward’s statement about 4:30pm June 21, and posted it June 22.

Activist Stephen Sivigliano: A recent local news clip about beautiful wedding dresses made out of only toilet paper struck a funny bone in me.  Do they expect the future marriages to go down the toilet after the honeymoon?  After all, when the dress does its job, just like the fabric it's made of, where should it go other than the sewer?  Plus, it leaves no trace behind. After the groom removes it from her, it disintegrates in his hands. The ex-governor of Texas once said, "poor George----he can't help it.  He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."  Maybe we should paraphrase it to say, "poor fake news and/or dimmycrats---they can't help the moronic statements and accusations they make.  They were all born with a fecal microphone in their mouths."  Maybe their apparel should also be made of toilet paper.  After all, they all have potty-mouths.  They are exposing their true nature when they keep attacking the Donald.  Most recently, they are attacking him about his breaking up families policy.  How forgetful they are.  It isn't his policy.  It's Obummer's policy, and he wants to change it, but without simply releasing the criminals out into the public, as Obummer did. When Bush was in office, they blamed him for everything, including the asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs.  The leftists are no longer blaming Bush, and are now blaming the Donald for everything, including that stupid asteroid. They are claiming to own a "blue wave" this November.  Boy, are they in for one hell of a shock!

clair van steenwykLD22 Senate Candidate Clair Van Steenwyk Responds to LD22 PC eric morganEric Morgan. 6-22-18-Briefs Unfortunately Morgan is a little confused about the following statement he made, (Voters are selecting candidates that will advance and represent the Republican Party in the general election. GOP Platform is against the National Popular Vote.

Morgan’s previous comments would mean that Republican voters believe that conservatives support & vote for legislation like the National Popular Vote and PROP 123 etc., would make me wrong about what a Debbie LeskoConstitutional Conservative is. Morgan stated: Van seems to think thatSandra Dowling 2 for his candidate, (Not my candidate just a new person who asked for assistance ), the legal requirements to be listed on the ballot should be waived. Not true, and using the Sal Alinsky attack method on me isn't a good defense, when in fact the problem is stifling candidates as the Debbie Lesko camp attempted unsuccessfully against Dr. Sandra Dowling who had the funds almost $8,000 to fight back and win, but did slow down the campaign for the CD 8 seat which was a politically motivated tactic. Morgan’s stated: Meanwhile, conservative, involved candidates like Ben Toma, Frank ben tomaCarroll and John Heep, and the dozens of Frank Carrollvolunteer PCs of LD22 have worked side by side with for years should be held to a different set of standards. Welcome to the Dark Side, Van.

Let's see I got 1,996 signatures myself and didn't pay for one of them also with some assistance from LD 22 PCs. I know John Heep isn’t running on the slate with David Livingston, for me you’re known by the company you keep, to pretend that I’m saying something I’m not isn’t a good defense or offense, and is as untrue as is to pretend most running are as you say candidates to advance and support the GOP, as the GOP Platform John Heep 2017is against the NPVDavid Livingston LD22

The Sal Alinsky tactic comparing me to Dems is laughable, anyone who knows me knows that’s not true, but once again a great tactic of the left, and I’m not accusing anyone of being a democrat or the dark side just really bad judgment and defending it is even worse, especially with such erroneous accusations made against me, Alinski would be proud of all of these accusers attacking me rather than not supporting those in the GOP who’ve support and voted for the NPV and PROP 123 etc., of which there are many.

jeff flake 3Jeff-Flake-Blocking-Trump-Judges/ This Lame Duck Gop Senator’s Excuse For Blocking Trump Judges Will Set Your Hair On Fire Outgoing GOP Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona is blocking votes on all of President Donald Trump’s appeals court nominees to secure concessions from Republican leaders on tariffs and Cuban travel restrictions. Flake, a Trump antagonist who is not seeking reelection amid floundering popularity with Arizona Republicans, has not openly addressed the matter, though his seat on a closely divided Senate Judiciary Committee gives him significant leverage over judgeships.

The Arizona Game and Fish Dept urges OHV riders/drivers to buckle up on every time they operate the machine. In 2017, there were numerous fatal accidents involving off-highway vehicles that had rolled over, pinning people underneath the machine. Wearing a seatbelt is critical because it will help keep the operator and any passengers inside the vehicle in the event of an accident. Additional key safety practices when operating an OHV include:

1. Wear a helmet. They’re required for all operators and passengers under the age of 18, but are strongly recommended for everyone.

2. Only carry the number of passengers recommended by the vehicle’s manufacturer. Many accidents are the result of people exceeding the manufacturer’s recommended carrying capacity.

3. Never ride alone, and always leave details about your trip (including who’s going, where you’re going and when you expect to return) with a friend or family member who can follow up to ensure everyone made it home safely.

It’s also recommended that anyone operating or riding in an OHV take a safety education course that’s specifically designed to teach off-road motorists how to ride safely and responsibly.

Paul Gosar 2016US Rep Paul Gosar: On Tuesday, Members of the Congressional Western Caucus released statements after the White House's Council on Environmental Quality published an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking indicating its intent to consider revising regulations governing implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Gosar said, "Issued in 1978 and amended in 1986, the Executive's NEPA regulations governing the law's implementation have barely been touched since they were first put in place. Given how much we have learned about how the law plays out in practice since then - and how impactful these regulations are - this fact borders on outrageous. Accordingly, we look forward to working with the White House's Council on Environmental Quality and other relevant federal entities to ensure that NEPA is implemented in a maximally efficient way. This restrictive law has been made far more onerous by executive decisions to bureaucratize rather than streamline its implementation, and it bodes well for our great companies and economy to see the President taking action here." full press release click here

DiCiccio headshotPhoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio: Bulk Trash Collection 201 - Bulk trash collection is a quarterly service provided by the Phoenix Public Works Department as part of your residential trash and recycling service. Debbie LeskoCongresswoman Debbie Lesko: The House passed H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018. I voted for H.R. 2 because it makes over 35 notable improvements to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps. Specifically, this reform-minded bill requires able-bodied SNAP recipients to work or receive job training for at least 20 hours a week exempting the disabled, seniors, and those caring for children under the age of six, or those who are pregnant. These improvements will encourage able-bodied Americans back into the workforce and help SNAP recipients find employment to bring financial stability to their lives. The work requirements in this bill will put Americans on a path towards self-sufficiency, instead of relying on food stamps. H.R. 2 will get people back to work.

Martha McSally 3US Senate candidate Martha McSally: As a fighter pilot with over 325 hours of combat flight time, I have been trained to act quickly and decisively to complete my mission. In warzones, there is no time for posturing, score settling, or showmanship. I have never had time for BS when it comes to serving our country, and that remains true for my "deployment" to DC. I am running for US Senate because I know that we MUST do better for Arizonans, for our military, and for the American people. While we are making real strides in Washington to drain the swamp and get our country back on track, there is still far too much political posturing and partisan BS in DC. I am proud of my record as the first female fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and I am proud of my record as one of the most effective law makers on the Hill. I have maintained mission focus through my time in the U.S. Congress, and I am determined to do the same when I am elected to the U.S. Senate. On the battlefield and in Washington, I don't mince words. So, I'll be blunt here: I need financial support . We have only days left before the end of the second fiscal quarter, and right now I'm tracking about $45,000 behind my digital fundraising goal. My opponent liberal Democrat Kyrsten Sinema has been campaigning for this Senate seat for over three years, and she's amassed a war chest of over $6.7 million. Because of that, we have been forced to set VERY aggressive fundraising targets. If I fail to hit my Q2 goal, it will be reflected in publicly available FEC reports, which are watched very closely by the leaders of the Democrat Establishment. I cannot afford to show any weakness.. See video.

Kelli Ward - physician 5US Senate candidate Kelli Ward: This week the campaign released our latest ad, "Relentless." It showcases Kelli's strong commitment to secure our southern border. Will you help our team get this in front of more voters? Please chip in With immigration front and center in the media, it's crucial we get "Relentless" on the air. – Michael Ward – Kelli Ward’s husband.

US Senate Candidate Kelli Ward: On Tuesday, a U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot along the Arizona-Mexico border. Our porous southern border needs to be addressed and Congress is failing in their duty to stand with the President, build the Wall, and Make America Safe Again with each passing day.
chip-in The 21-year veteran Border Patrol agent was shot near Arivaca on the property of a sprawling family ranch, an area known for human smuggling and drug trafficking.I am familiar with this border ranch. Earlier this year I spent time with ranch owner Jim Chilton and learned a lot about the illegal activity occurring on and around his property. The sad fact is that on ranches like these the only barrier between the United States and Mexico is this: four thin strands of barbed wire...We've got to stand up for our brave U.S. Border Patrol agents and great American ranchers like Jim Chilton — we've got to build the Wall!
Chip-in to help me fight for the Wall and immigration policies that put "America First." Unlike our "Amnesty First" senators, I'll work with President Trump to implement the immigration policies and border security measures that Arizonans and conservative Americans want...

We'll build the Wall

We'll eliminate the diversity lottery

We'll end chain migration

We'll ban catch-and-release policies

We'll defund Sanctuary Cities, and...

We'll implement E-Verify in workplaces nationwide

It's time to Make America Safe Again.
