In this new role, Cherry will be responsible for communicating with state agencies, local governments and the education community who rely on the Arizona Treasury to protect and grow taxpayer money for the important functions they serve. In addition, he will provide public information to Arizonans about the role and performance of the office, along with economic and financial information that impacts investments and the state budget. "I’ve been blessed with a long and rewarding journalism career and I'm proud of my extensive on-air work that helped save millions of dollars for the hard-working people of Arizona," said Cherry. David Stringer LD1Rep David Stringer (R-1) today was named chair of the newly-formed Ad Hoc Study Committee on Criminal Justice Reform by Speaker J.D. Mesnard (R-17. JT Mesnard LD17 - speaker of houseThe committee will investigate the root causes of Arizona’s incarceration rate and issues related to prisoner reentry that contribute to recidivism. Rep Tony Rivero (R-21) has been named vice-chair, and other members of the committee are Reps Ben Toma (R-22), Kirsten Engel (D-10), and Tony Navarrete (D-30).

The committee will immediately begin work with an organizational meeting at 2:30 pm., Wed., June 6 in Tony Rivero LD21House Hearing Room 1. The committee will meet twice monthly over the next six months at the State Capitol. All meetings will be open to the public.ben toma According to the United States Department of Justice, Arizona currently has the 4th highest imprisonment rate in the nation and a recidivism rate that is above the national average. The incarceration of roughly 40,000 prisoners in the state prison system costs Arizona taxpayers nearly $1.1 billion per year, or roughly 11% of the state budget. This is a higher percentage than all but a handful of states.

“Public safety is the first duty of government,” said Stringer. “Yet Arizona’s prisons house many non-violent, low level offenders who need mental health and substance abuse treatment. Only a small percentage of these prisoners actually receive treatment while incarcerated. We need to look at more cost-effective ways of dealing with this population to facilitate their reentry into society and reduce recidivism.”

terry Goddard - DOutlaw Dirty Money Co-Chairman Terry Goddard says a final push for signatures is underway for a ballot initiative that could give Arizona voters the opportunity to transform the state from the “Dirty Money” capital of the United States to the national leader for transparency in political spending. The effort has about 140,000 signatures in hand and is expected to collect another 100,000 thousand through paid petitioners. A total of 225,000 valid signatures are required to qualify. The goal is 300,000 to make certain there are enough to withstand any challenges. The deadline is July 5th. Goddard said, “We cannot afford to be overconfident in getting enough signatures.  We are depending on our more than 2,000 volunteers carrying petitions.  This campaign is literally in their hands. We have every chance of success if volunteers come through as they have been.” The “Stop Political Dirty Money Amendment” would amend the Arizona constitution to require public disclosure of any contributor who spends $2500 or more to influence an election during a two-year cycle, even if those contributions passed through intermediaries. Sat., June 9th is an Arizona Sign a Petition Day where petitions will be available for signing. Volunteers will also be able turn in their signed petitions. See statewide locations https://outlawdirtymoney.com/sign-a-petition-day/ .

Currently, Arizona has the unfortunate distinction of being ground zero for dirty political spending. During the 2014 election cycle, out of $28 million in non-candidate spending for statewide candidates, an estimated $18 million was dirty or “dark money,” giving Arizona the nation’s highest participation of dirty money, as a percentage of total election spending. If approved by voters, the Stop Dirty Money amendment would give Arizona the distinction of having the most transparent law in the nation in terms of political spending.

At yesterday’s news conference, Goddard – a former Phoenix Mayor - was joined by former Phoenix Mayor Paul Johnson an Independent, and former Republican nominee for Congress and former Paradise Valley Mayor Vernon Parker. Support for this initiative crosses political lines. Supporters include conservatives such as former Republican Arizona Attorneys General, Tom Horne and Grant Woods, in addition to Arizona progressives such as former Phoenix Mayors Phil Gordon and Greg Stanton, and Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego. ronna mcdaniel - RNCRNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: President Trump's Agenda is Working Across America -- We saw Republicans turning out in droves in six of the seven battleground House seats yesterday, that Democrats were counting on to flip the House. More Republicans turned out than Democrats, and the seventh one was just by a little bit that the Democrats turned out. That 'blue wave' yesterday became a ripple, and I'll tell you why, because the Trump agenda is working across this country, unemployment at a record low. People are feeling better, wages are up, and they want to see the comeback continue, and they're not going to hand the nation over to the obstruct and resist Democrat party of no.

timothy Schwartz-Timothy LD30 1 VCLD30 Activist Timothy Schwartz: Frosty's Briefs has been reporting that Jon Seaton has been spotted at Republican Party headquarters behind the executive director's chair.

Many reading these series of postings may not realize who Jon Seaton is, and the jon seatonAZGOP communications director is not helpful as she uses wordcraft and spin to cleverly disguise Seaton's true identity. But I remember who Season is, and it's important for me to reveal to you who he is! I've included an article below for that purpose, because even though the article isn't recent, "the internet never forgets". When you find Seaton's name, take careful note of the nefarious activity Seaton was involved in. It's time for revolt! Time for all conservatives to demand that Jon Seaton be immediately and permanently removed from party headquarters! Yes, this is a call to action! Make calls, write letters, refuse to take no for an answer. https://www.politico.com/story/2014/12/john-mccain-arizona-tea-party-113849 (Editor’s Note: This is a repost because some of you reported that the link, although alive, didn’t show live on your screens yesterday.)

LD9 Chairman Brad Johns: The Pima GOP has secured a booth at the Juneteenth Event on June 16th.  Ophelia Parker is coordinating and staffing our PIMA GOP booth. She is looking for help to man the booth. Please email Ophelia at byFaithOSP@msn.com or contact via phone at 520-797-2470 if you would like to volunteer. We are also opening this community involvement opportunity to all candidates and clubs.  Also, I understand that Kuuleme's band may be scheduled to perform.  Please see linked flyers for information on the event and an explanation of the Juneteenth Annual Festival.

McSally TrumpCongresswoman Martha McSally stood beside President Trump as he signed a Veterans Affairs (VA) Mission Act that will implement a much needed overhaul to the health care programs available to our veterans. Because of Martha and her conservative colleagues willingness to fight for those who fight for us, veterans will get the timely, better care that they deserve. Martha spent over 26 years fighting for our country in the U.S. Air Force, now she's fighting for veterans and their families on Capitol Hill. This bill will streamline and simplify the VA's existing programs to ensure our veterans get the quality of care they deserve - the care they earned in service to our nation. For far too long our veterans have received subpar care and a VA that was marred by scandal and political games at the hands of the Obama administration. President Trump is fighting to finally FIX these shameful flaws, and Martha is standing shoulder to shoulder with him in the fight. Our active and retired military deserve a healthcare system worthy of their great sacrifice, and Martha will not rest until they get it. – Team McSally

Kelli Ward - physician 2Sen candidate Kelli Ward’s husband: Earlier this year, Kelli sent out a notice on how Martha McSpender ranks among conservatives. Her ratings were terrible in February... but revisiting her scores now show she is performing worse than ever. While McSally maintains her 39% F-rating at the Conservative Review, she has lower numbers at the Heritage Foundation and a record low at FreedomWorks. Heritage now shows McSally with a 55% rating — down 3% since our last update — and gives her a lifetime score of 49%. The drop is due to Martha McSpender's support of two massive government spending bills: the Bipartisan Budget Act and the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018. And Freedom Works? Well, it looks to be McSally's worst year yet... she gets a whopping 23% rating for 2018. All of this stands to show conservatives the real Martha McSally — her voting record just doesn't square up with her fake campaign conservatism. That's why I'm urging you to chip-in and help Kelli defeat her in the primary. The good news is we're polling in FIRST place... but we must keep the momentum up to secure a win! Thanks for standing with us. - Dr. Michael Ward, Husband and #1 Supporter
