8-8-18 Briefs

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) would like to see Arizona represented by two strong border security proponents who oppose amnesty by electing both retired Sheriff Joe Arpaio and current US Senate candidate Dr. Kelli Ward to replace outgoing Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain, but unfortunately the current GOP dynamic is most likely to elect pro-amnesty, DC establishment backed, Cantor List Representative Martha McSally to the Senate, according to a release from ALIPAC yesterday… “We would rather have two anti-Amnesty Senators from AZ than two more RINOS replacing McCain and Flake!,” it reads…"We respectfully request that Dr. Ward and Sheriff Joe strike an accord to unify against Amnesty backing McSally by having Arpaio realign his campaign to run for Senator John McCain's seat, which we expect to be open next year due to McCain's health problems which prevent him from continuing in his role as Senator," explained William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "If Arpaio would switch to run for McCain's seat and endorse Ward against McSally, Ward could then back Arpaio for the other seat. Currently, we have two border hawks fighting each other and splitting the border issue vote. We hope they will show the leadership needed to change this potential train wreck into a win-win situation and an Arizona that could soon be represented by both Dr. Kelli Ward and Sheriff Joe Arpaio in the US Senate."ALIPAC feels Sheriff Arpaio should realign his campaign to replace McCain next year because he entered the race long after Ward was already running. Also, Joe Arpaio's national name recognition would be a better match for a nationally backed campaign to replace Amnesty McCain with a true border security advocate like Arpaio in 2019 while giving Arpaio more time to build up the support needed for a successful run. For more information about ALIPAC's 14-year mission to support candidates who oppose illegal immigration and Amnesty and efforts to elect Ward in 2018 and Arpaio in 2019 to the US Senate, please visit www.alipac.us

ICYMI: LD22 Activist Fran Noe has filed a campaign complaint with the Federal Election Commission in Washington, DC (FEC) against Congresswoman Debbie Lesko and the AZGOP for violation of campaign laws/regulations during the CD8 Special Election and the upcoming Aug 28 primary election. 8-7-18-briefs In denying Noe’s allegations, Lesko turned her guns on competitor Sandy Dowling, charging Dowling had violated FEC rules by not filing her paperwork on time. Dowling promptly denied Lesko’s accusation, saying her accountant has until today to file Dowling’s paperwork to FEC because she didn’t have $5,000 in her campaign kitty on July 28. This race will be interesting to watch. - ft

Former Maricopa County Republican Chairman Lyle Tuttle to Larry Sorenson. You are so right!  It is so easy for someone to file a challenge to a candidate's petition signatures - I spent a considerable amount of time double-checking signatures for Sandra Dowling after Debbie Lesko's campaign filed a challenge to many of her signatures.....What A Farce That Challenge Was!!!  At the last minute, just prior to the court date/time, they Withdrew The Challenge!!  It is my thought that they entered the challenge knowing full well it was bogus, but desiring Dowling's campaign to spend time they COULD use in campaigning to confirm those signatures -- what a pitiful action by a worried campaign!!  Is this the kind of leadership you want in Congress??????  Shame on you Debbie!!  You used to be more honest than this -- what changed over the last 3-4 years??? Was it your staff??

Activist Larry Sorenson: Today, my wife asked me to stay home instead of going downtown. I had received the request for folks to appear in support of our President. The event was a speech by Nancy Pelosi to be given at 2 pm. I went down early, against her recommendation, and helped three ladies make up a few signs. At 1 pm I took up a position on the sidewalk near the venue entry and proudly held up my father's American Flag. I smiled and waived at the passing traffic eliciting sporadic honking and thumbs up. At around 2 pm, I was joined by three activists who travel to these events in support of our President. Several police officers stopped by. They too follow these events just to keep an eye on things. The ladies who made the signs up never joined us and the signs were never seen. We four soldiered on but at 70 years of age, with no discs in my back and a horribly sprained knee could only last until around 3 pm. Back at home I cooled off,  took pain medication and composed this note. I will sleep pretty well tonight knowing that when the vile and possibly insane Nancy Pelosi came to Phoenix, I stood there proudly waiving dad's flag in the heat while representing all of the party members in LD 22 and CD 8. You should have seen it.

Activist Marsha Hill: In regard: to applauding pro-life candidates...it's part of the Republican Platform. Phyllis Schlefly made sure of that years ago. A candidate can't be a Republican is pro-choice. Kind of like being a Catholic and believing in abortion. It doesn't work. Thanks to Frosty's Briefs, we have the priveledge of knowing what really is going on in AZ politics. RINOs are uncovered, no-fluffy articles. Where on earth would we get our vital information without Frosty's Brief. We are indepted to her consistant delivery of articles she's given. Some may not be her personal view but she's a long time journalist (a real one).

Activist Stephen Sivigliano; Group shower Sunday night. Now that I have your attention, everyone can remove their minds from the gutter.  The shower I'm referring to is the Perseides Meteor shower, which happens every year around Aug. 12. This is the shower that inspired John Denver to write the line, "I've seen it raining fire in the sky"  when he composed Rocky Mountain High.  Apparently, that happened as he and a few friends were camping out at a very high altitude, around the campfire.” Be sure to take some reclining lawn chairs, snacks, flashlights, s'mores, but leave the binoculars and telescopes at home.  They would be useless.

LD21 Candidate for State Senate Randy Miller: In regards to an article about the court "ordering President Trump" to reinstate DACA - What has happened to our "Three Branches of Government"? Each was designed to ensure one didn't get too much power over the other, and each is delegated specific enumerated powers. This is our check and balances we have lost through activism. Making laws is reserved for Congress under Article I, Section 7, Clause 2. Article II grants the power to the Executive; the President, the power to agree or disagree with a bill and he or she either signs the bill making it law or vetoes it and sends it back. A veto can over ridden with 2/3rds vote from the originating house. The system of executive orders is designed to write policies and orders to executive agencies as to how to implement existing laws and new ones created, not to write laws! Article III, the Judicial Branch "Shall extend in all cases of law and equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States"...This part of Article III, Section 2, specifically states their authority is only under laws of the united states that are in accordance to the constitution. The DACA program is not law created by congress under Article 1 Section 7, clause 2; it was created under executive order, therefore is not law and is not bound by the states or an executive branch to legally enforce and is not a granted authority to the President. For the court to "order" the reinstatement of DACA is not within their authority.

Blacks Law Definition of "Judicial Power"- "Authority, both constitutional and legal , given to the courts and its judges (1) to preside over and render judgment on court-worthy cases; (2) to enforce or void statutes and laws when scope or constitutionality are questioned (3) to interpret statutes and laws when disputes arise." This definition should be explained; Only authority that is legal is that which is granted under the constitution.

Our state legislators are not bound by any requirement to enforce any Federal policy, law not within the Federal delegated powers, or regulation. Let’s elect those that understand the laws of our country and state and that will stand up for the people and be that loud voice that says Stop The Madness. We are destroying our country. I will stand against this and hopefully build a coalition of like minded legislators with the backbone to do the same. It is up to the people to vote in agreement or continue the status quo. https://www.conservativeinstitute.org/…/judge-trump-obamas-…

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Incumbent Secretary of State Michele Reagan: For the past 25 years I have been involved in Arizona Republican party politics. I helped create a Young Republicans Club with Jim Waring and Bill Gates, I have been elected to multiple positions in Republican Women's groups helping to grow our party and served as treasurer of my LD before I was ever elected. I have not seen my opponent at any Republican event over the last 20 years. Win or lose, I will continue to stay involved to fight for our shared Republican values. To that end, I’d like to combat some of the obnoxious misinformation my opponent is spreading.

· Myth:  Michele Reagan signed a Consent Decree making it easier for illegal immigrants to vote. Fact:  Under this Consent Decree, County Recorders are now required to follow up with potential voters who submit the state form to ascertain citizenship status.  Prior to the Consent Decree, County Recorders were prohibited from checking citizenship status on state forms if the potential voter did not provide proof. The Consent Decree ensures that County Recorders are allowed to follow up on all forms, regardless of whether it is a federal form or a state form. This settlement was also approved by the Attorney General’s office, the Maricopa County Attorney and from his own election’s attorney.

· Myth:  Michele Reagan is responsible for long lines during the Presidential Preference Election. Fact:  The county recorder at the time, Helen Purcell, determines with her elections team what they feel is an appropriate number of polling locations for every election.  They are then required to seek the approval of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, not the Secretary of State’s office.

· Myth:  He is an Arizona Businessman. Fact:  Steve neglects to mention that his business is in California He is a California businessman and doesn't employ a single Arizonan.

LD 22 Senate Candidate Clair Van Steenwyk: I’ve contacted many AZ candidates about on the issue of the NPV to ask if they Support it or not, Here’s the latest to response to our question: The NPV has become quite a hot subject in the last few weeks, and almost daily is being talked about in the Briefs, and so far no one is in favor or supporting or voting for anyone running who voted 4 it, and here’s the response from: US Senate Candidate Dr. Kelli Ward: I do not support NPV, not before, not now and will never in the future. Thanks for reaching out! We’re glad to hear back from Dr. Ward, and realize this may offend some of her former GOP colleagues in the AZ House who passed it. It had enough GOP Senate support to pass as well. We hope all who read these comments realize that the NPV should never be supported or voted 4 by anyone who claims to support the U. S. Constitution as it is in direct violation of Article 2, Section 1 Clause 2 and Article V. Ward now joins the others against NPV who’ve spoken to us directly Opposing the NPV; CD 8 Candidate Sandra Dowling, AZ Treasurer Jo Ann Sabbagh, AZ Supt. of Public Instruction Dr. Bob Branch, AZ Corp. Comm. Jim O’Connor, LD 21 Senate Candidate Randy Miller, LD 22's House Candidate John Heep, LD 25 Senate Candidate Itasca Small, I’m certain there are others we haven’t heard back from them. And, yes, some who voted 4 NPV who now say they’d not do so again, funny how when a little light gets shined on a subject many in office change their minds especially in an election year. Any running 4 office who Oppose the National Popular Vote and want to be listed please contact us. We hope this is helpful to all the Voters in AZ, as your vote is your voice and they need to hear it loud & clear in 2018 early voting. Brandon: Wendy Rogers political director: I need to keep Wendy on the air. We must expose the Democrat leftist Tom O'Halleran for who he is. We must show that this district is going to go Republican in November by showing strength now. Will you contribute right now? Time is critical. We must act now in order to stop the radical left.
We are going to win this seat.
But only if we keep Wendy on the air. Please give today.

Supt of Public Instruction candidate Frank Riggs: I was asked this question on my campaign website: "While your duties, should you be elected Superintendent of Public Instruction, will cover a wide range of responsibilities perhaps none is more important that ensuring the safety of the students and teachers in their classrooms. What is your plan to make our schools safer?" My reply - "As a former police officer, I intend to use my law enforcement expertise to make our schools safer and more secure. Schools are ‘soft targets.’ I will ask local law enforcement agencies to conduct a security survey of every school campus to make site-specific recommendations to better secure the campus. I performed crime prevention duties in the course of my law enforcement career and conducted many such residential and commercial surveys for homeowners and businesses. At a minimum, schools should have a single controlled point of entry. All other doors should be locked with panic bar exit devices. Likewise, all classroom doors should be securable from the inside.

“We should encourage local law enforcement agencies to provide school resource officers (SRO's who are sworn, trained and armed law enforcement officers) as the Glendale Police Department has done for the nine public high schools within its jurisdiction: glendale-adds-police SRO's or local patrol units need to be present at times of maximum vulnerability, i.e., before and after school (during dismissal and busing) and at after-school activities when students congregate. Experienced SRO's can also act as teachers and counselors. Local patrol units should ‘adopt’ the schools within their ‘beat’ or patrol area and make frequent stops and inspections at the schools. We can also utilize former/retired military and law enforcement personnel as uniformed security, especially in urban schools and in rural communities, where law enforcement is spread thin and response times can be slow. These individuals may be armed if they've had the proper tactical training and annual qualification that I underwent as a police officer. I know from my firsthand law enforcement experience that a uniform presence is a proven deterrent.

“Every school needs training on dealing with an active shooter. All schools should have at least one emergency preparedness training session per year.Classroom teachers need formal training on recognizing troubled students, and school administrators must cooperate with law enforcement and juvenile justice authorities to identify and intercede with students who show any propensity to do harm to themselves or others. I hope this gives you an idea of some measures we should and must take to make our schools safer.

Incumbent Gov Doug Ducey: Please check your mailbox! If you're an early voter (and about 70% of Arizona voters are), your mail-in ballot will be arriving soon.  This year is a crucial election, and we need your vote to keep Arizona moving forward. Please remember to vote Doug Ducey for governor and return your ballot ASAP. We recommend mailing your ballot back before Tuesday, August 21.

US Senate candidate Kelli Ward: US Sen Rand Paul... Ronald Reagan Campaign Manager Ed Rollins...US Reps Steve King, Dana Rohrabacher, and Paul Gosar...What a lineup! I'm thrilled and grateful to have conservative champions like these supporting my campaign to replace Sanctuary Senator Jeff Flake in Arizona. The stakes couldn't be higher right now... we're running against two candidates who refuse to publicly debate and one who is a closet #NeverTrumper trying her hand at being a “campaign conservative." Of course, I'm referring to my opponent Martha "McAmnesty" McSally... And I'm grateful to have you in my corner as well. We know that Martha McAmnesty isn't the person to succeed Sanctuary Senator Flake in the US Senate. We know she’s going to pick up the torch right where Flake leaves it at the end of his term -- and I even suspect she'll be worse than Flake in office. (Her abysmal record in the House already speaks volumes...) We have less than a month until the votes are in... and we need to make every moment count! That's why I'm asking you to generously support our campaign today...I want to remind you: The momentum we are building is terrifying the opposition and the DC cartel at large. They know we mean business, especially when national conservative heavyweights like Mark Levin are standing by our side! chip in

ELECTED OFFICIALS COMMENTARY

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko: Keeping Americans safe and providing for the common defense is the primary role of Congress. I was pleased to support the NDAA for FY19 this week which authorizes funding for 77 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters that pilots train for at Luke Air Force Base in our district. Additionally, the NDAA provides our men and women in uniform with a well-deserved pay raise of 2.6%, the largest in nine years. Rebuilding our military and restoring our readiness capabilities are challenges that cannot be solved overnight, but this legislation sets us on the path towards a strong, capable defense. See more…congress-must-provide-for-the-common-defense

Congresswoman Martha McSally: Fellow American — as a fighter pilot with over 325 hours of combat flight time, I have been trained to act quickly and decisively to complete my mission. In warzones, there is no time for posturing, score settling, or showmanship. I have never had time for BS when it comes to serving our country, and that remains true for my "deployment" to D.C. I am running for U.S. Senate because I know that we MUST do better for Arizonans, for our military, and for the American people. While we are making real strides in Washington to drain the swamp and get our country back on track, there is still far too much political posturing and partisan BS in DC.I am proud of my record as the first female fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and I am proud of my record as one of the most effective law makers on the Hill.I have maintained mission focus through my time in the U.S. Congress, and I am determined to do the same when I am elected to the U.S. Senate. But my Democrat opponent, Kyrsten Sinema, has been campaigning for this Senate seat for over three years, and she's amassed a war chest of over $6.7 million to use against me. On the battlefield and in Washington, I don't mince words. So, I'll be blunt here: I can't compete with the fat checks from liberal elites that are flooding this race — which is why I need your immediate help. Fellow American, the Democrats truly believe this seat should be given to another liberal who will vote in line with their radical agenda instead of what's best for the American people. They are willing to do, AND SPEND, anything to make sure I am defeated in November.
