1-4-18 Briefs

Sina KerrIn An Endurance Marathon that lasted nearly four hours last Thursday evening, Sine Kerr, Joanne Osborne and Royce Jenkins evolved as LD13s choiceJoanne Osbsorne - goodyear city council of three candidates to forward to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for potential selection to replace LD13 Sen Steve Montenegro, who has resigned to run for the US House of Representatives. Kerr won the first round shortly after the meeting started at 5 pm., but it took five additional rounds of voting before Jenkins was named the third candidate around 8:30 pm. Board of Supervisors Chairman Clint Hickman explained that the Special Meeting for the senate candidate nominees was called during the holidays in effort to get the newly selected senator in place in time for the opening of the new legislative session. Although no date is set for the board appointment, it reported that the board is considering holding an emergency meeting to fill the slot this week.

michal carbone 2That meeting was immediately followed at 9 pm with the election of Michael Carbone as the new LD13 chairman – replacing Ben Boon who resigned and moved out of state. Wally Campbell, former LD13 Chairman, was elected as the 2nd vice chair, replacing Chardone, who had resigned to run for the chairmanship. Matt King, first vice chairman, who chaired the meeting, announced the Chardone was not in attendance at the election, due to a family vacation over the holidays.

Activist Cyndi Love: I am writing you because candidates and others are reaching out to me confused about the Campaign Workshop sponsored by the Election Integrity Committee this Sat, Jan 6, 2018.  It was my understanding that Vera and I were having this event at the Scottsdale location I have already secured and paid.  However, Vera has not been in contact with me concerning our joint venture.  Since I have now learned from others,  that this same event is now taking place in Anthem, I need to clear my name and protect my credibility. Please post the statement below in "The Briefs" as soon as possible! Thank you so much for all your help. If you have any questions, please call me at 480-365-8090. May God Bless you with the BEST year ever!

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: BYLAWS!!! Bylaw | Definition of Bylaw by Merriam-Webster Define bylaw: a rule adopted by an organization chiefly for the government of its members and the regulation of its affairs. For those truly interested in a viable political party, capable of success or continuing, a couple of questions.  When has the AZ GOP bylaws last been amended, and is/has the current AZ GOP bylaws been violated???  Chairman Russell Sias has done considerable research on the subject.  The current AZ GOP bylaws are so antiquated, outdated, autocratic, and violated that rather than proposing a simple amendment according to the bylaws, an amendment to many items are proposed, necessitating a ‘re-write’, or update, to the AZ GOP bylaws. A tremendous undertaking.  There are hundred, and hundreds of Precinct Committeemen to whom these bylaws apply, and that should not be taken lightly.   Like with the state and federal legislatures voting on bills, has one ever seen 100% on any vote?  It is expected these amendments will be presented to the AZ GOP State Committeemen at the January 2018 mandatory meeting.  A 100% ‘yes’ vote is considered unlikely.  However, for those who are considering to vote, don’t ‘pick fly shit out of pepper’!  There will probably be some things in the new re-write that a member may not really agree with, but consider the gravity of it,  Don’t vote ‘no’ just because of it doesn’t seem to suite!  Consider the overall bylaws!  For your perusal, Chairman Russell has provided a ‘side b y side’ comparison of the bylaws.  Consider in your mind whether or not the ‘re-write’ is better or not than the current bylaws, and puts  THE party into the hands of WE THE PEOPLE, instead of a select few!.  Please support Chairman Sias, he has been one of the most tireless leaders in our AZ GOP. For those of you receiving this email who are not State Committeemen, please this message on to all the State Committeemen that you know.  Thanks!

rob haney 2Rob Haney, a retired chairman of the Maricopa County Republican Party, told The Wanderer that Never Trumpers still have plenty of fight in them to oppose and try to harm the president: “I believe the establishment cabal of Never Trumpers view 2017 as a very successful year. With the corruption of the Department of Justice, the Never Trumpers have skillfully, albeit dishonestly and illegally, maintained momentum in their drive to destroy the Trump presidency,” Haney said.
“With Sen. John McCain’s diabolical assistance, they were able to pin the completely fictitious and never-ending Russian collusion conspiracy on Trump.
“There is no record of Obama- or Clinton-supporting officials being prosecuted for their illegal activities. We can only hope that justice will be served this time rather than congressional hearings where ‘I can’t recall’ or ‘I plead the Fifth’ are the only results obtained,” Haney said. “It now looks like the release of thousands of messages from the Trump transition team by the General Services Administration will keep the Russian collusion investigation going through the 2018 midterm election. With this continuing investigative strategy, the Never Trumpers will make the public so sick of hearing about the Russian collusion that they will vote Democrat just to show their revulsion with the investigation for which they have been led to believe that the Republicans are responsible,” he said.
“Ironically, they will be correct, because Attorney General (Jeff) Sessions could have prevented the whole fiasco, had he not been so intimidated by Sen. Al Franken’s questioning in his appointment hearings that he made the decision to recuse himself from the Trump campaign investigation,” Haney said. Had he not done so, Sessions could have refused to appoint a special prosecutor. Could you imagine a Democrat attorney general in similar circumstances making a decision to recuse himself?
“The Never Trumpers do not have to remove Trump to destroy his presidency. They can destroy it by handing the U.S. Congress back to the Democrats, and they are well on their way to accomplishing that goal,” Haney said. “You can call the Republicans many things; fools and RINOs come to mind. But you can’t call them smart or fighters. They are best known for folding like a house of cards.”
