Sourpuss Nancy Pelosi must have been most uncomfortable during the Tuesday evening SOTU. Some think she was cleansing her teeth with her tongue. Others think she must have been sucking on a lemon… but Briefs thinks she and her whole miserable/angry looking, non-clapping, play with their phones, glued to their seats Dem delegation was constipated. And from their post-speech commentary, they still are!- ft

Political Parties In Arizona.  The designation entitles those parties to automatically appear on the 2018 general election ballot for federal, state and legislative elections.  The Arizona Green Party, still considered a “new” political party under Arizona law, is likewise recognized for official political party status through the 2018 election cycle. A political party is entitled to continuous representation if either the party’s candidates for presidential elector in the 2016 general election received at least 5% of the total votes cast for presidential elector; or the party had at least 0.66% of registered voters statewide as of October 1, 2017.  The Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican Parties have met this criteria and therefore will retain their status as continuously represented parties this cycle. The Arizona Green Party is a “new” political party and retains its recognized status under different provisions under Arizona law.  The Green Party will be recognized through the 2018 election cycle, after which it will be required to either meet the criteria for continuously represented parties or file a sufficient number of petition signatures with the Secretary of State in order to be recognized for the 2020 elections.

The Arizona Project will meet with Project Arizona founder Jacek Spendel, whose vision was to introduce Eastern European young people with Western culture, enterprise, and liberties.   This program relocates 5 or 6 students to the United States to immersed them in a concentrated, short period of time to study and learn about American culture. AP will host six Eastern European students - three from Poland, two from the Ukraine and one from Croatia Monday evening at 6:30 pm., at 3375 E Shea Blvd in Phoenix.  CD candidate Dave Giles will provide pizza for the meeting. Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel’s statement celebrating February as Black History Month: “This February, during Black History Month, we honor the many contributions that African Americans have made in communities across the United States,” said Chairwoman McDaniel. “These great Americans have shaped our nation with their work in civil rights, government, science, the arts, and more, and they continue to enrich our diverse Party. This year, as we celebrate the bicentennial of Republican abolitionist Frederick Douglass’s birth, may his legacy remind us of the Republican Party’s enduring commitment to freedom and opportunity for all.”

Notes From Readers

Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. – ft

Former AZGOP ChairmanTom Morrissey: This link great beyond words will take you to an article written by a Canadian, regarding the state of the Union Speech given by President Trump. It is interesting, uplifting, and full of common sense and well worth the read.  Pass it on to any Liberal and wait for the smoke to emanate from their ears. Eh?

LD25 PC/SC Itasca Small: I’m saddened by Francine Romesburg’s rambling, internally contradictory piece about her good friend, Clair Van Steenwyk. I believe in research, too. I looked-up “Meloncholy” and “Choleric.” Melancholy: a gloomy and depressed individual! No way, I said! I looked-up Choleric and found a description of a few traits that might fit Clair, amidst a plethora of others that certainly did not! I noted the disclaimer: “It is important to understand that temperament cannot be accurately assessed just by observation; temperament analysis via the Arno Profile System is necessary to accurately identify a person’s temperament.” Cavalierly labeling a person is irresponsible, foolish and dangerous. In this case, a highly qualified candidate’s opportunity to serve We, the People, could be damaged by the stabbing words of a “friend.” Yes, Clair sees the world from a unique perspective. As do we all. Perspective is not opinion; it forms as an operation of the epistemological nature, source and limits of knowledge, as one observes, experiences—and, yes—conducts research. Opinion is what one concludes based-upon the perspective formed. Gaining knowledge builds a repository of facts one files in the mind. Francine is so overwhelmed by Clair’s vast repository, she can’t see the trees in the forest; when he shares his perspective, it’s not opinion. All she sees is intellect leaving her behind when she refuses to listen after he has listened and heard her. Clair is one of the most intelligent, insightful people I’ve ever known. His mind flies at quantum speed as he accesses and applies the information stored there. He hears, and knows instantaneously where the logic and the flaws are.

Those who listen with an open mind, willing to acknowledge that he might know something valuable, find a wealth of useful knowledge and astute evaluation of Life. Those who dislike him won’t hear him when he hears them. He sometimes seems not to listen, because he understood what you said before you finished speaking. He has no time—nor hammer—for beating dead horses— Those “Others” with whom he connects—including the homeless and needy on LA’s skidrow & Hollywood Blvd and at the Chrisitian Halfway & Coffee House, and the Mexican Villagers he ministered to—know that in Washington, he would most-assuredly be lightyears ahead of any of his career politician and wannabe opponents in the CD8 Race!

CD8 candidate Sheriff Richard Mack: Despite being twice elected Sheriff in Arizona, having a longtime dedicated national following, and having the second largest number of signatures of any candidate running for Congress the 8th Congressional District Special Election – the Arizona Republic newspaper shut out Sheriff Richard Mack from participating in their online debate last week.  Now it appears that decision not only violated the newspaper’s preset qualifications, but may have violated Federal Election Commission law which could trigger an illegal corporate donation to those candidates that did appear. See mack’s-letter-to-the-arizona-republic with all of the details of how they violated their own rules and the potential FEC violation can be found here: Mack stated, “It is outrageous that the Arizona Republic held a rigged debate where they ignored their own rules as to who could even participate.  Now I know that it may have also violated FEC law.  Hopefully this will show voters the lengths to what the “lamestream” media and their cohorts in the Republican Establishment will do to keep me out their forums and debates.  They know that I will reveal the real record of Debbie Lesko, Phil Lovas, Steve Montenegro, and Bob Stump in the Arizona Legislature.  We are supposed to be the political party that is against picking winners and losers, but they just can’t help themselves. Long before I was elected Sheriff, I fought to protect the Constitution from those who would seek to usurp it,” Mack continued. “I realize the political elite want to rig the system, but like President Trump we in Arizona have to ‘drain the swamp’ in the GOP as well.” Mack gained national attention when he sued President Bill Clinton over the Brady Gun Ban winning in the US Supreme Court.  Since that landmark Supreme Court ruling Mack has written six books and appeared at over 150 conservative political rallies nationwide. He has stood against the incursions of the Federal Government and has fought for civil rights from Hawaii to Bangor, Maine. He is the Founder and President of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) and is in the NRA Hall of Fame.

Supt of Public Instruction candidate Frank Riggs: We do a huge disservice to many K-12 students by suggesting they must go to a four-year college or university. Anything less than "High School to Harvard" is often defined as failure! The U.S. Department of Labor reports there are 5.6 million unfilled skilled job openings in our economy, and nearly half of America's skilled workers will retire in the next decade. In Arizona, we have a skilled worker shortfall of 10,000 in the construction industry alone. As Mike Rowe of the TV show "Dirty Jobs" points out, our economy will suffer without a trained and skilled workforce, yet we have a growing skills gap in jobs that pay a good wage and offer a long-term career: "Unfortunately, the skilled trades are no longer aspirational. In a society that's convinced a four-year degree is the best path for the most people, a whole category of good jobs have been relegated to some sort of 'vocational consolation prize.' Is it any wonder we have 1.3 trillion dollars in outstanding college student loans? Is it really a surprise that vocational education has pretty much evaporated from high schools?" We need to ensure that all high school students with an interest in pursuing vocational, technical and career-related education have that opportunity through school-based educational courses; work-study internships, apprenticeships and mentorships; and dual enrollment courses at our community colleges where they can obtain college credit and work towards an occupational certificate. I understand the importance of technical education for our students who demonstrate an aptitude for learning vocational and career-related skills. As Supt. of Public Instruction, I will work to expand opportunities for students to learn and pursue fulfilling careers through the most relevant technical education and hands-on training.

US Senate candidate Kelli Ward: Martha McSally is a Swamp sellout. That’s right: Martha McSally is all too happy to serve the Swamp so long as the price is right. this is why she maintains an F-rating at the Conservative Review.
… it’s also why the DC lobbyist class loves her.  The Swamp knows it can count on Martha McSally to trade her precious vote for their corrupted cash. Friend, this is exactly what is wrong with DC… and why I need your help. You see, far too many principled conservatives have been defeated for refusing to pledge their allegiance to the Swamp in exchange for campaign funding. I am in this race to win… but I will not compromise my principles along the way. That’s why I am counting on you, my friend, to help me run to victory. Chip-in to help me defeat Martha McSally with all of her swampy support. We can’t afford to replace “Fake” Jeff Flake with pretend conservative Martha McSally – she is bad for Arizona, bad for America, and does not deserve a promotion. It’s time for the people of Arizona to drain the Swamp, not fit it!

Congressman Andy Biggs: “In a time when Americans need to know that they can trust the government, it is ironic that our top law enforcement officials seek to protect their own from indications of corruption. The men and women who constitute the rank-and-file of the Department of Justice and the FBI are doing a wonderful job. Their credibility must not be undermined by protecting those who have attempted to manipulate our laws. Americans must be given the opportunity to see the memorandum without exactions or redactions. They must know who has betrayed our trust.”
