2-9-18 Briefs

Rep-Paul-Gosar: Obamas-Fast-And-Furious, Benghazi, IRS-Scandals-All-Connected-To-DOJ-FBI-Corruption-In-Trump-Probe/ “…Gosar is calling on the American people to step up and push their members of Congress to help get to the bottom of this all once and for all. “That is a demand, a demand for your representatives to be involved and answer up in regards to what do they know, how do they know it, and how are they are pursuing it to get to the bottom of justice,” Gosar replied when asked what people can do to help him and others fight back. “That’s I think the biggest key, when you have a member of Congress out in your neck of the woods in your hometowns ask them specifically: ‘What are you doing to make sure that justice is served?’ We cannot be a country that stands without equal application of the law. President Reagan said it very, very well: When a law is broken, we got to stop blaming society. We need to start holding the lawbreakers accountable. Perfectly apropos for today. That’s the biggest key: Stay in touch, I know there’s lots of stuff coming and it’s hard to keep it organized, but that’s what your elected officials are for is is to make sure it is presentable to you and to make sure that they’re actually following up with justice because the more people we have in Congress following up on this the better. And you know what, it’s election time so I always tell people you get a lot more attention from some people come election time from some people that fail to do it over a couple years.”

Notes From Readers

Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. – ft

Activist Archie Dicksion: The Government Committee of the House of Representatives of the Arizona State Legislature held a meeting yesterday at which time they considered House Bill 2012 relating to the use of proxies by political parties. The Bill was approved along party lines and now goes to the Rules Committee for consideration. I am not sure when it will come up for consideration on their agenda but probably in the next week or two. I will keep you informed. There were a number of persons that appeared to speak on the bill with only one person, Kathy Petsas speaking in opposition. It appears the main question was why limit the number of proxies from unlimited to only 2 per person. In any event, we had a victory today.

Maricopa County Treasurer Royce Flora: The Arizona Republic attempted another hit piece on my office the other day.  As usual very little in the article was correct.  It is clear they don’t even have a rudimentary understanding of the topic.  First the easy stuff.  Here is what they got right, some of my statements. We expect to make over $60 million in interest earnings this year

· "I have no interest it talking to the Republic,"

· "Treasurer Flora does not trust The Arizona Republic and will not talk to them," his assistant Karen Smith said in an email

· "You'll make something up," ( and they did)

· "I consider The Arizona Republic to be a (political-action committee) for Democrats." (This was close but what I actually said was “illegal PAC.” This is probably because the Republic can’t use the word “illegal.”)

The rest was speculation and opinion from someone with no apparent understanding or credible background related to the issue.  A cursory review of our website highlights their inability to do basic research.  This would typically be the starting place for any serious research at even the grade school level.  They don’t even get the amount of property tax collected correct.  For that reason I have instructed staff to put an easy to understand graphic on our website showing our interest earnings growing each month.  I view the article as proof of my quotes to them.

Gina Swoboda, Election Integrity: URGENT: A very bad, very dangerous bill has been introduced in the State House: HB2206, Early Voting, Voting Centers. This bill will allow Democrat County Recorder Fontes (and all 15 County Recorders), to utilize Early Voting procedures for ALL BALLOTS even those cast at the polls on Election Day. Even for voters who have not signed up for PEVL.  This is what Fontes did in the jurisdictional elections and we ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT THIS. This is an end run around a direct vote for ALL MAIL ELECTIONS which they know will not pass. Under this legislation, ballots cast on Election Day will NO LONGER be tabulated at the polls. This is also an end run around Voter ID, as ALL VOTERS ballots will be treated as Early Votes, i.e. placed in an envelope and a signature on an affidavit used as Proof of Identity. Please call and email ALL of our GOP legislators and ask them to vote No if this bill makes it out of committee. House: House Roster

Senate: SenateRoster Read bill here: bills/HB2206P Email with questions. Thank you!!!!

Area 5 Director/244 Bison PC Captain Brenda Dickinson: Recently, the Yavapai County Republican Committee Education Chair out a notice that Yav Gop will be having a Precinct Committee Meeting on Thurs, Feb 15 at 5 pm. at the Rowle Simmons Adult Center on Rosser St. in Prescott.  Hopefully you received notice of this meeting.  If not, you might consider getting on the Constant Contact list of Yavapai GOP.  This is the first of four meetings to be held this year for the PC's.  Kimberly Yee will be our first speaker.  We are offering 1/2 a table for each candidate for $25.  At this time, we do not have an exact number of PCs who will be present.  There is a potential for a few hundred people to attend.  If you are interested in attending and would like to have a table, please contact Brenda Dickinson at (928) 925-1549.  Due to the fact that an agenda for the evening is being planned, time is a premium for any additional speakers and may or may not be available.  Please forward this message to any other candidates that might be interested in attending. We hope you can attend. Contact:

Crescent Precinct PC's Clair & Jean Van Steenwyk are in favor of limiting Proxies to 1 per PC and prefer none at all, as we've watched over the yrs. people carrying handfuls of proxies to meetings for some who never even bother to attend LD meetings. We liken this to the Ballot Harvesting that goes on in AZ Elections unchecked and believe that to has caused some rather questionable results. We live in SCW and most who reside here are fairly active adults as proven by all the clubs, gyms and other activities they spend time participating in, so know if they'd want to be active in the LD as PCs they would be, however most decline the responsibility just as the voter turnout indicates and lack of knowledge most have of their elected officials or even knowing who they are, this is indeed unfortunate but it is what it is. We don't carry for others so believe if this practice is ended we just might be able to remove the RINO Influence in the GOP meetings county and state.

YavGOP Education Chair Donna Tanzi, Education: Our revival of PC Meetings is fast approaching and this reminder is to make sure you are present at the Feb 15th meeting. Please make note we have moved the meeting to the Adult Center, located on Rosser St. in Prescott. How about the State of the Union Speech by President Donald J. Trump? Impressive and so very strong, I thought. Phrases that embellished his pillars such as "the beauty of America's soul, set aside the differences, our new American moment, we can achieve absolutely anything" and last but not least, "American grit" kept me glued to the TV. You couldn't help but laugh as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer as well as the whole Democratic Congress scowled and made the most telling faces, while they remained on their derrieres. Congressman Luis Gutierrez essentially stormed out of SOTU, obviously upset about the President's tenacity and commitment to fixing immigration. Imagine a President wanting to fix immigration. My, My! USA, USA! To keep this long awaited momentum, now is the time for Precinct Committeemen to engage in informed political activity, and meet our current candidates. YavGOP will do our best to make sure you get the facts and we expect you will enjoy engaging your community in much needed dialog. Contact: Donna Tanzi, Education Chair

Gina Swoboda, Election Integrity: Finally, some good news!! An EXCELLENT bill has been brought forward by our state legislature: SB1466. This bill will go a long way to restoring checks and balances in how our elections are run in AZ. SB1466 (voting centers, board of supervisors), instructs our Board(s) of Supervisors to designate polling places and method of tabulation, only BoS may designate ballot centers, early ballot dropoff locations. The county recorder must have resolution from Board of Supervisors to establish additional voting locations. EXCELLENT!! Lobbyists are actively working to kill this bill. Please call & email our legislators and ask them to vote YES on SB1466 to restore election integrity. House: House Roster

Senate: SenateRoster Read bill here: SB1466P.htm.  Email with questions. Thank you!!!!

US Senate candidate Dr Kelli Ward: I know you agree with me – and President Trump – that border security is a top priority for Congress. Specifically, the construction of the Wall. Yet both of our senators from Arizona continue to block true immigration reform, which necessarily includes construction of the president's Wall along our southern border. In fact, the Wall Street Journal reported that Sen. John McCain and Democratic Sen. Chris Coons are going to offer a “path to citizenship for DACA participants, but now “ prior to Friday’s budget deadline. In other words, immigration politics – not the true border security demanded by Americans – is being used as a negotiating point to fund the government itself. The sad fact is that we Arizonans have come to expect nothing less of our senators... Sanctuary Senators Flake and McCain have been leading voices against the type of immigration and border security reform we so desperately need. #NeverTrumper Jeff Flake has openly mocked the president, calling his support for the Wall "just a bit, you know, out there." He also said that Trump should rethink building a "fence" between the U.S. and Mexico. That is why I need your help right now... You see, unlike Sanctuary Senator Jeff Flake and my opponent Martha "McAmnesty" McSally, I believe it's Congress's duty to work with the president to fix our porous border and build the Wall. Like you, I believe that Congress's first priority when it comes to immigration is keeping the American people safe – something that is simply impossible without building the Wall. I bring the contrast that Arizonanas are looking for in their next Senator… I simply will not repeat the dangerous mistakes made by Sanctuary Senator Jeff Flake when it comes to immigration. Flake supports protecting illegal aliens under Obama's unconstitutional DACA program – I do not. Flake supports "amnesty" for nearly 1.8 million illegals currently within our borders – I do not.Flake opposes building President Trump's border wall – I fully support the Wall's construction. Patriot, help me run this race to victory and defend America First immigration policies in Washington.

Dr Michael Ward, US Senate Candidate Kelli Ward’s Husband: Yesterday, Nancy Pelosi spent hours on the floor of the House defending DACA...And now Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is giving his chamber all of next week to debate this issue... and without an actual bill on the floor! With the issue of immigration heating up in Washington, we can only hope that common sense prevails and the right decisions will be made.
This is why it's so important that we send Kelli to Washington...Unlike Sanctuary Senator Flake, I know Kelli will put America – and Americans – First when it comes to immigration and border security... and she absolutely will fight for the construction of the wall. Thanks for standing with Kelli in this critical time.
