5-8-18 Briefs

The Yellow Sheet created a lot of chatter when it broke its April 11 “Bookkeeping Mistakes Aren’t Cheap” story about the Federal Election Commission (FEC) fining the AZGOP $23,000 for a “mistake” uncovered during the recent 2016 audit. See Arizona Is In Big Trouble - Chew On This

timothy leeThose who have been around for a few years recall that Timothy Lee served as the Jonathan Lines 2robert grahamAZGOP Treasurer for nearly 10 years prior to Robert Graham and Jonathan Lines becoming AZGOP chairmen. (Lines was Graham’s treasurer before Lines became the current state chair.) As you may recall, Lee completed eight audits and reviews during his tenure – with zero, zip, nada fines and just a few technical corrections along the line. It was common knowledge that Lee  knew the ends and outs of the AZGOP budget and books like the back of his hand… and frequently ended his financial reports at the ExCom meetings with, “If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call me.” How things have changed. These days grassroots PCs can’t attend the closed-door ExCom meetings so they don’t get a copy of current treasurer’s report… therefore, they don’t know if there are irregularities.

tom morrisseyFormer AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey pointed out in the 4-13-18 Briefs And 4-14-18-briefs that the FEC audited former AZGOP Chairman Randy PullenRandy Pullen's term when Morrissey stepped into Pullen’s shoes. Morrissey says, “With the exception of a few very minor items, Pullen came through it without any problems.”  Morrissey noted that he, too,  was audited with “no faults found” when Morrissey turned the reins over to Graham. Morrissey said the audits were helpful because it was a “useful guide” during his chairmanship. Lee was the treasurer for both Pullen and Morrissey. Audits routinely occur when leadership changes.

It’s been over three weeks since the “audit fine” story broke and Lines still hasn’t responded to Briefs inquiries as to exactly what ”mistake” the FEC fined the AZGOP for. At least, we know that $10,000 of the fine has been paid – leaving a balance due of $22,000 in an election year when the AZGOP needs every cent it can raise to fight the Dems - who are determined to turn the state blue with the November 2018 elections. Don’t you just want to dig into your piggie bank  and fork over a big donation to the party, considering the fiasco that arose in Feb 2017, when (former treasurer turned chairman) Lines discovered Graham had left a $200,000 legal debt behind that Lines allegedly knew nothing about. We’re told that debt has been paid off, but many are still scratching their heads wondering where that $200,000 came from. - ft

MS-13’s Female Ranks Grow As The Gang Becomes ‘Americanized’ Female victims are nothing new for MS-13, which is infamous in Central America for making young women choose between rape and execution. But in a gang as chauvinistic as it is fearsome, female killers are almost unheard of. The gang slaying of a 15-year-old girl in Virginia — an attack led by another girl — may be a sign of growing female involvement in MS-13 in the United States. In response, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has begun instructing its agents to scrutinize girls and young women as closely as males for MS-13 involvement. Assistant special agent Michael Prado said, “There are female MS-13 members engaged in some extremely heinous and violent activity." Read more »

Activist Richard Hennessey responds to Supt of Public Education Frank Riggs:Frank Riggs 5-7-18-briefs.html

I find it laughable that Frank claims not to know me.

He knew me when he ran for governor and I helped host meet and greets in Chino Valley for him.

He knew me when he ran for Arizona Corporation Commission.

He knew me at the Republican Men's Forum Meeting.

He knew me at the debate the other night at the Senior Center in Prescott.

He wrote a response in the Briefs saying he wasn't going to respond to my simple two lines.

Come on Frank, are you having a senior moment?

Don't worry, when you lose this race I'm sure you'll find something else to run for!

Sun City West Activist Jean Goncalves: Thank you so much Frosty and also a big thank you for keeping us all informed on what is going on.  God bless you!

sheriff JoeTom Morrissey, Former Chairman AZ GOP: I was astonished by Senator John McCain's blatantly UNTRUE comment about Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio when he referred to him as a "convicted felon". "That isn't terribly surprising, given (Trump's) insulting references to unauthorized immigrants and the hard positions the state adopted in recent years to punish and apprehend them, exacerbated by the offensive statements and policies of Maricopa County's notorious former sheriff, convicted felon Joe Arpaio." Senator McCain. What Sheriff Arpaio was "convicted" of was equivalent to a Dog Barking complaint that came out of a Contempt of Court charge.  In my experience as a career law enforcement officer, that "conviction", and not by a jury of his peers, is a misdemeanor.  President Trump showed his metal when he refused to buckle to the Establishment Elite wing of the Republican Party and issued, a well-deserved, pardon to Joe Arpaio. If we are ever to get to the life blood of our Representative Republic we must have truth from those whom we hire through the election process, and send to office.  Without that, our Republic, our culture and very way of life are doomed.  I pray that the old adage "The truth will out" comes to pass.  Please God, let that be, in a time when it is so desperately needed in our Republic.

kelli ward 2018 US Sen candidate Kelli Ward. I'm a mother, a physician, former state senator, and the wife of a retired Air Force Colonel.  I'm running to represent Arizonans and the "America First" agenda in the U.S. Senate. I've had enough of slick politicians who campaign as conservatives, only to shift into big government liberals the moment they arrive in Washington, D.C. I need your support As a physician working, I had to produce results or people would die. I couldn't "pass the buck" the way many in Congress seem to do these days. In my final year as a state senator, I sponsored or co-sponsored 19 bills that were signed into law. Many of these bills shrunk the size of government, reduced burdensome regulations, and helped small businesses flourish.
As a U.S. Senator, I will bring the same level of hard work, commitment, and responsibility to Washington.

· I will not rest until our borders are secured. I know firsthand how important the Wall is to the security of our nation.

· I promise to defend the sanctity of life.  I know that life begins at conception. I will support every effort to defund Planned Parenthood and protect the unborn.

· I promise to support a military that is so strong, no nation will dare challenge us. I know how important it is to support our troops and care for our veterans.

· I promise to always put America's interests first. I fully support free trade, but not at the expense of American businesses and workers. I want to see our economy thrive, and I'll work with President Trump to reduce regulations and taxes to make America the best place to do business! With the primary race heating upMartha McSally 3 Martha "McSpender" McSally is running against me. I am going up against some of the most powerful political forces in the country, and I need all hands on deck to secure a win. We can win this primary with as little as $3 million; we've already raised more than two-thirds of that amount. But in order to cross the finish line, I need thousands of patriotic Americans like you to chip-in whatever you can afford. Please contribute right here. This U.S. Senate race is -- without a doubt -- the most important race of the 2018 midterms. If Martha McSally wins, we will have replaced one 'Amnesty First' Never-Trump Republican for another. It's not enough for Republicans to keep control of the Senate. We must elect principled conservatives who will work with President Trump, instead of stabbing him in the back as so many in the Establishment have been doing.

Doug Ducey 2015 2Gov Doug Ducey: It’s Teacher Appreciation Week. Yesterday morning, Governor Ducey joined “Good Morning Arizona” to discuss his efforts to provide Arizona teachers 20% raises. The raises were included in a budget put forward by Governor Ducey and signed last week.  The budget also supports our teachers by restoring recession-era cuts and adding hundreds of millions of dollars in flexible funding for schools that can be used to update classrooms, buy new technology, and increase pay for support staff
