6-18-18 Briefs

Opinions expressed by readers are not necessarily those of the Briefs. Commentary running over 400 words is subject to editing. Briefs posts candidate announcements, but does not endorse candidates, nor do we post endorsement statements. - ft.

Editor’s note: It is Briefs policy not to post unsigned letters. However, In this case the writer’s commentary is reflective of numerous letters/phone calls Briefs has received on GOP issues the past several years from those who are afraid to speak out because they fear losing positions/reputations due to GOP hierarchy retaliation. -ft

Reader: I Am EXTREMELY Disappointed that the Yavapai County Republican Committee (YCRC)JT Mesnard LD17 - speaker of house and J.D. Mesnard attacked voter elected LD1 Rep David Stringer for simply stating the TRUTH. 6-17-2018 Briefs His words were blunt, but NOTHING is untrue about what he said.

David Stringer LD1 The GOP will not allow the truth to be spoken when it comes to illegals, immigration and amnesties. They won’t even call amnesty ‘amnesty’. Immigration policy since 1965 has been planned, designed and implemented to create a Democrat voting majority. The left and the Open Border Globalist cabal in the GOP signal with "diversity" and charges of racism, xenophobia, comparisons to Hitler etc... whenever the status quo of cheap labor and creating a Democrat voting majority in this country is threatened.

Speaking the truth also must result in punishment, being ostracized and vilely labeled as Mesnard and the YCRC have done to Stringer for simply stating facts on what illegal aliens, immigration and repeated amnesties have brought to this country. What they are doing to the duly ELECTED Stringer with their virtue signaling and vitriolic attacks are no different than what we see Flake, McCain, Pelosi, Schumer and MSNBC and CNN regularly do to the President.

Stringer had the temerity to challenge the status quo Democrats, GOP donor class and Open Borders Inc. by speaking some uncomfortable truths. Therefore, he MUST be pilloried, drawn and quartered, and burned at the stake for heresy against the cult of "diversity", open borders and foreigners firsters. All because Stringer has given voice to The Forgotten Americans.

Frosty, you posted How_To_Destroy_America by Frosty Wooldridge who promotes open discussion of environmental and U.S. national sustainability issues, and reduction of immigration to replacement level in the past. It says pretty much the same thing Stringer said at the Yavapai Republican Men’s Forum luncheon. The MAJORITY of Republican VOTERS agree. The problem is the GOP hierarchy and their donors do not.

The GOP tends to choose their donors over the voters (which is why they go after President Trump so viciously). DC is AGAIN pushing amnesty - which the voters have rejected. Republicans oppose importing more foreign workers and they want legal immigration slowed to a trickle.

Stringer took up the challenge the voters expected of him and the GOP long knives come out as they do against Trump while our culture and nation erodes into the third world.

I am not in Stringers district I will gladly work for him and make donations to help him weather this storm, I have a feeling there are many others who would too...Then watch the Open Borders Inc. GOP come out and attack us too. It’s time to stop letting them scare or intimidate us for wanting America and Americans first; let’s draw the line here. Stay Strong David. Stick with what you know in your heart, stand with the voters and pray for God to Bless the United States of America. – Briefs Reader

Rose Sperry 2Rose Sperry, Yavapai County SC, Myrna Lieberman, Yavapai County SC, and Marianne Ferrari LD20 SC -- A pattern is emerging which certainly looks like an orchestrated effort to unfairly disqualify multiple conservative candidates in the 2018 primary elections. If that is the case, it sure looks like they’re using a scattershot of different methods to do it, but the result is the same: Conservative candidates are being placed at a disadvantage:

trent franks[1] When candidate forums were being held in the race for Trent Franks’ formersheriff richard mack House seat, candidate Sheriff Richard Mack—well-loved and solid conservative—was refused permission to participate…twice! Our opinion: There was no justification for banning Sheriff Mack, who is highly respected. Was someone trying to keep Mack’s strong pro-Trump, pro-Constitution message from reaching interested voters?

Brenda Barton LD6[2] Official challenges have been lodged against the petition signatures Sandra Dowling 2of tried-and-true conservative Brenda Barton and Marine veteran Sandra Dowling. Both candidates are conservatives above reproach. Our opinion: Both their petitions will pass muster—no problem! But who knows how many less-informed voters might be swayed by the accusations, alone?

Doug Ducey 2015 2[3] Five of the seven executive committee members of the Yavapai County Jonathan Lines 2Republican Committee have voted to speak for some 170 pcs, without their consent: In the name of the entire committee, they joined Governor Doug Ducey, AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines, and House Speaker J.D. Mesnard in separate calls for incumbent David Stringer to resign for so-called “racist” comments that were not racist, at all! David is a respected conservative and solid Trump candidate JT Mesnard LD17 - speaker of houseknown for being honest and aboveboard. Our opinion: There are 8 GOP leaders speakingDavid Stringer LD1 just like Democrats. That is a problem. Calling someone “racist” for frankly addressing the disastrous consequences and costs of the ongoing invasion of our country by   millions of illegal border crossers is the Democrats’ favorite smear tactic. They’ve so overused it that nobody believes them, anymore. In our experience, real Republicans don’t stoop to cries of “Racist!”  In fact, it’s plain shocking—and, frankly, incomprehensible--coming from the mouths of eight Republican leaders!  Or. Are. These. Eight. Really. Republicans?

AFA Team: Some, as citizens in a nation of laws, have come to embrace rhetorical discourse as a way of avoiding the obvious truth right before our eyes. Never has this been more evident than this past week when david stringer - YAVYavapai Rep. David Stringer committed the cardinal sin of telling the truth about the state of our schools here in Arizona.  The issue on which he spoke was the problem of integration, in a balanced manner, of our public schools and the difficulty of that.  "There are not enough white kids to go around," he said.  He's right, of course.  Rabid Establishment Republican lawmakers and AZGOP Chair Jonathan Lines 2Jonathan Lines, immediately saw an opportunity to get their names in the paper in an election season and called for Stringer's resignation.  Nonsense.  If anyone needs to resign it is those like Lines who do not portray issues accurately nor understand the "existential threat" that challenges us through illegal entrants into this country. These are the kids we educate on the backs of taxpayers.  White kids, if you will, are being pulled out of under-performing schools and sent to private schools, charter schools or are being home schooled. Our schools are being overrun by illegal crossings of kids who then are enrolled in our schools.  Why not just face facts about this YUGE problem and attack the problem instead of the messenger?  We at AFA hope Rep. Stringer stands his ground and that others have the guts to stand with him.  Jonathan Lines, who ascended to the AZGOP through dubious means, should go stand in a corner for not supporting the facts and Rep. Stringer for telling the truth.  Better yet, it is he who should resign! - The AFA Team

Version 2Arrowhead JP Craig Wismer: I’m writing this on a Friday night having earlier today completed a full calendar of Civil Traffic Hearings in the Arrowhead Justice Court.  Civil Traffic Hearings are probably the most common reason people set foot in a court of law, so I want to spend some time explaining to you how they are conducted.

When someone is issued a citation for a violation of civil traffic laws, they will be required to make their appearance in court for an Arraignment Hearing.   In the alternative they may choose to enter a plea with the court in advance in lieu of appearing in person.  In either case defendants are given the option of entering either a plea of Responsible or Not Responsible to the charges.  If they plead Not Responsible the case will be set for a Civil Traffic Hearing.

At the hearing, the officer will give testimony as to the basis for citing the defendant for the civil traffic violations noted on the complaint (most people know this as the ticket).  The officer will be permitted to call witnesses to testify on behalf of the state (this doesn’t occur very often) and offer exhibits for admission into evidence.   Exhibits most often take the form of equipment calibration records, accident report or a copy of the defendant’s Motor Vehicle Record.   Once the officer concludes his or her testimony the defendant will be given an opportunity to engage in cross examination, that is ask questions after which the presentation of the State’s will have concluded.

The focus of the hearing now shifts to the defendant.  Just as did the officer, the defendant may testify, call witnesses and offer exhibits for admission into evidence.  Unless the citing officer is licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona, he or she will not be permitted to cross-examine the defendant, however, the officer will be allowed to offer rebuttal testimony, that is respond to or refute testimony given by the defendant after which the hearing will conclude.

If the state is to prevail the judge, having reviewed all the evidence presented, must be of the opinion that it met a certain burden of proof, that being proving its case by a preponderance of the evidence.  Think of it as a slight tipping of the scales in favor of the state.  If the judge is of the opinion that the state prevailed, he or she will enter a Judgment of Responsible against the defendant.  Because the case was disposed at a hearing, the defendant may appeal the judge’s decision to the Arizona Superior Court.  If the state doesn’t prevail a Judgment of Not Responsible will be entered in favor of the defendant.

· Illegals-Status-Enhanced-By-Ability-To-Expand-Dem-Voter-Bloc/  Though the left intentionally misuses the words, illegal aliens are not “immigrants” or “migrants.” Immigrants enter the U.S. legally, using our generous system that takes in over a million yearly. Migrants are the swallows that come to Capistrano each March 19, but even they return home to Argentina.
